"I have enjoyed using Sony Camcorders for awhile. When I have gone on vacation in the past I have used my dad's Sony camcorders. I have wanted a camcorder for awhile, but have been holding out for the ultimate. I did now want to buy a camcorder until I figured what I got would not be outdated too soon. I bought this camcorder as my first and I am very pleased with it! The zoom is great, the night shot is great! I love Sony and am glad I could buy a Sony! Of course the 308 has more features, but for my basic needs this Sony does it all!! Thank you Sony for always coming through!!"

"I received this camcorder for my birthday. The optics are stunning and the 2000x Digital Zoom is fun to play around with. The Night Shot Plus makes this a force to be reckoned with as its a night vision camera as well. I love Sony, and I refue to buy nothing else."

A Great Gift

"I received this camera as a college graduation gift from my parents in May. Since then, I've used it several times. I've used it to videotape family get togethers, a trip to the zoo, a day at the race track, and a really nasty looking thunderstorm. The touch screen is a really great feature that I was not expecting from a camera in that price range. I feel like I have a lot of control over my movies because of the nice editing features. The only disappointment that I have come accross is that I cannot figure out how to edit videos using a mac. The editing works fine on my PC, but I'd love to import my videos into Apple's video editing program and I can't figure out how. All in all, though, I'm very happy with my graduation gift. Great camera."

"I did alot of research to find a camcorder in this price range to get the most for the money. This camera had the highest optical zoom which was important since I take a lot of nature videos. Used it on our Weeki Wachee vacation it was great. I am still learning all the editing features and extras. But would definitely recommend."

"We purchsed this camera to record our son's events for his senior year of high school. We have recorded several football games and the zoom is great. The night mode is perfect for the football setting. We look forward to using it throughout the year. Our son plans do use it for several computer class projects. We recommend it to everyone. My mom is planning to buy one now that we have used our camera and enjoy it!"

"I bought this camcorder on 9/3/07. After careful reviewing the competition and a budget I picked this one. I love it, the night mode is awesome, it has a great zoom feature and the only downfall is that the battery lasts 90 min but even thats ok. If you use it for what it is, a camcorder, you will be very happy with this purchase."

worst customer service experience ever

"i bought this camera for my wife as a gift. it worked fine and my wife loved it. after not using it for a few months, we went to use it for our daughters concert at school. the battery was dead. my wife spent a few hours on the phone with sony and did everything the csr told her to do and check. seems the charger wasn't working. even whe camera was plugged into the outlet through the adapter it would not work.
after getting the "runaround" we were told that the parts were under waranty but the 90 days labor was not in effect, so in essence we were told we would have to send it in to be checked @$90 an hour to see if that was the problem and then they would send a new charger.
we only had the camera for about six months and used it a few times and are now expected to pay to have it looked at by sony. they should just send us a new charger. we should not have to pay for a defective item that came with the camera.
if we purchase a charger from sony it is around $100 and the cheapest we found is a universal one for around $50.
we feel that the customer service from sony was especially the worst we have experienced and will never purchase another sony product....should have bought the magnavox instead."

"I got this camcorder just to do family videos and for that purpose it is perfect. It records my children and that is basically what I wanted. I like the size and the ease of use. The touch screen is so easy anyone can do it. It is so much easier to carry a tiny spindle of dvds instead of bulky tapes. I took it on vacation with me to Mexico and it did a really great job. It is not a high end professional camera by any means but what do you expect for 400 dollars? The digital still picture quality is good enough but I recommend you also take a higher resolution digital camera. I have the sony w80 and it worked out great for the picture taking part of the trip both items are so comapct they fit in one small camera bag together. The only thing I would change is the ability to use it for a webcam also but thats ok I have one of those too. I highly recommend Sony products. They have great customer service if you ever need it."

"When I first got the camcorder I thought it was a nice feature to have a camera in it. the advertisement had said that the pictures were good quality. But I found out that the pictures that I printed were not good. taking pictures using a tripod is better than taking a picture freehand but both ways still don't come out as clear as i hoped it would. But if you are a person that just wants to use the camcorder is will work for your needs. The nightshot plus is awsome and it is a very good feature to have the dvd discs instead of casset tapes, I totally recomend to get a dvd camcorder. Since I am going on a cruise at the end of august I hope this camcorder will work for me. but i will still take a regular camara with me just in case..
I will let you know how this camcorder worked for me when I get back!!"

Battery ONLY 100 minutes

"I read everything about this product and this seemed like a really good camera espically with all the features but what really sold me was the fact it says that it has a battery life up to 9 hours. Well when I got home and opened up the package I found out that the battery life is only up to 100 minutes and you will need to purchase an extra battery if you want it for 9 hours. So even though you read that the battery life is up to 9 hours its not true unless you want to spend an extra $100.00."
