What's great about it: great for children and young teens
What's not so great: takes a lot of time to get all of the mini games
"pretty cool game! I enjoy it, but would say it is more for the ages of six to fourteen. I think the mini games are fun, but you need a lot of time to unlock them all. great for parties, and will keep kids from being boared. I would recomend it as a good birthday gift."

What's great about it: lots of minigames, good multiplayer
What's not so great: boring sounds and music, lame minigames, boring maps, bad graphics, bad singleplayer
"I bought Mario Party 8 because I love Mario Party games. In Mario party 8 there is a variety of minigames, unfortunately the minigames really stink. The controls are good but all the games controls feel repetitive and boring. The graphics are under average compared to some games on wii. The sound effects and music sound like every other Mario Party game in existance. It's still fun to play with a friend on the couch but singleplayer is bad. This time they attempted a linear story mode that is horribly boring. The maps are boring and don't even come close to mario party 6's or 7's maps. This is one of the shorter reviews that I have written because I don't want to talk about a horrible game for more than a couple paragraphs. On a scale from 1-10 (10 being the highest) this game gets a 3.9"

Game that gets everyone involved

By BCRaven05
|
What's great about it: Lots of mini games
What's not so great: Not the greatest solo game
"This game is fun with many mini games that utilize the wii motion controls. It is not as fun to play by yourself, so you will need family and friends around to truly enjoy the game."

What's great about it: Anyone can play this game
What's not so great: can get a bit boring if played over and over but still fun
"I bought my wii and didn't have many games at all.. wanted something I could play with friends when they visit.. Little did I know I would also be able to play with my 3 year old son too! My son enjoys this game as much as I do and he loves playing the "bad guys game" as he calls it..
This game doesn't take much skill at all but yet is interesting enough to keep parents and grandparents interested in it!
Nintendo did a good thing with the wii to get people up moving around.. but this game doesn't get you moving around.. can sit on the couch and play this one with ease.."

What's great about it: Fun for all ages
What's not so great: Haven't found one yet
"It is games like this that make me glad that the Wii exists. Mario and The Wii combined continue to surprise me at the fun interactive games they keep coming up with. There are so many mini games to play that you will never get bored. It is especially fun to play the 1 vs. 3 games when the 1 is ahead of every body else."

What's great about it: Really fun with more than one person
What's not so great: After you beat the superstar, the game isn't fun
"This was the second game I bought and I loved it until I beat the SuperStar. Now, it's only fun if you're playing the board games with someone else. It's actually pretty easy to beat the Superstar as well."

What's great about it: Interactive with multi-players
What's not so great: Gets repetative with just one player
"This game is fun and cute, and playing with more than one player is pretty entertaining, but if you're by yourself, it gets pretty boring after a while. I would play it with my younger cousins when they come over, but other than that, it's probably just going to sit on the shelf."

Lots of fun for the first few times
04/28/2008
By jhunwung
|
"Mario Party 8 is more than fun for the first few times you play it however it only supports up to four players and it requires that you have the same amount of Wii controllers as players. Moreover, the graphics are somewhat disappointing and there is no 16:9 aspect ratio support. If you are looking for a game that you can pick up occasionally and play around with some people then this is it, however, if you're looking for something to play casually then you should go looking somewhere else."

Great for company!

What's great about it: Many mini games, Variety, Gameboard experience allows never ending gaming, lots of characters
What's not so great: Monotone characters, game made for younger ages (16 and under)
"There are lots of mini games perfect for company and keeping the younger relatives busy! Since the game is like a board game, it can be played over and over again! Games are pretty simple and basic so I do not recommend spending the full price if you over the age of 18 or so. If your under the age of 18, this game is perfect for you!"

What's great about it: Child-Friendly
What's not so great: Not for adults!
"I purchased this game on the day it came out, and it was fun for the first week.... maybe! After that, I found myself not wanting to play it at all! A child could be easily amused with this game for months, but an adult would go crazy with the same monotone sounds of the narrator and characters. Perfect game for your children, but not for you!"

What's great about it: Good Selection of Mini-games and Different Things to try
What's not so great: Could have more characters
"Mario Party 8 is a great game to play with your friends or family. Playing by yourself is still fun but if you want a lot of fun and a challenge grab a couple of people and hit the party tent."

What's great about it: Fun to play with friends and family!
What's not so great: Not enough playing boards
"It had a few new characters which gave it a wider selection, but it only has 5 boards. I love playing this game with friends and family but playing the same boards over and over can get old. I still feel Mario Party 1 for thr 64 system was the best. But it's still lots of fun."
