What's great about it: Works flawlessly
What's not so great: Takes a little work with vista 64.
"Took a little work, used the reviews here to get going ;o). This link from another poster is very helpful: http://forums.linksys.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=Wireless_Print_Servers&thread.id=4170 Now I have 3 laptops (all vista 64) & 2 desktops (1 vista 64 and 1 XP Pro) printing from all over the house to 1 printer!!"

What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: Wasted hours trying to set it up, but had no luck.
"I was trying to set this up with my 2wire router from AT&T DSL, but the setup software kept saying "Connect Fail" when I was finalizing the setup (step 15 on the Setup CD). I tried setting it up with WPA TKIP with no luck. Then, WEP Shared with no luck. Then no security at all, but still received the error. The only time it worked is when I ignored the setup and left the ethernet cable in the printer server, but that defeats the purpose of having a wireless printer server. I'm heading back to Best Buy to return it now."

What's not so great: Has problems with 64 bit Operating Systems
"We roll out this print servers to our customers. Many of our customers use older printers and this Print Server works to make older printers with USB cable to be wireless. We have saved customers who are retired countless $$$$."

DOES WORK WITH 64BIT VISTA

What's great about it: hide printer easily, small size
What's not so great: tricky install
"Contrary to the reviewers here, this server DOES WORK WITH VISTA 64. You need to seek out the exact way to install the server here:
http://forums.linksys.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=Wireless_Print_Servers&thread.id=4170
you can't help it if the device is tricky to install and the effort to make it work is less than what it takes to get the job done. It should be easier, i agree, but if you want wireless printing, you have to do the due diligence to get it working.
The device works flawlessly, my printer can now be hidden somewhere else, freeing up space on the desk."

What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: No real vista support and no 64bit compatibility
"Bought this based on that it was supposed to be compatible with Vista but found out it is not supported under the 64bit version. After reading many support boards it doesn't work real well with 32bit either. There is no software available for 64bit so the normal setup will not work. I tried several work arounds but had no luck. They should at least state on the box that the software doesn't support 64bit OS systems. I will be purchasing a HP print server for a replacement and spend a few more dollars and get 64bit support."

What's great about it: It works most of the time
What's not so great: limited capabilities
"Doesn't work for mac. There's a workaround to "supposedly" get it to work but after a couple days of pushing code, it doesn't so i gave up. Only 1 computer can be connected at a time, if you want to print on another computer you have to wait for the 1st one to not only stop printing, but also disconnect from the print server. It seems ok if you only had 1 computer that was running windows. But overall there are much better options than this"

What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: Software does not install correctly and Linksys support could not find a solution.
"The software installation does not run correctly, Linksys support could not find a solution after 3.5 hours of try this, try that, try something else. No solution on Linksys site. Only will work on one machine and can not link multiple printers from multiple computers. Very poor product."

What's great about it: not much
What's not so great: installation software is eratic, slow, if it works at all
"The device installed on one Vista machine and then refused to install on another Vista machine and on an XP machine. There are no fixes on the Linksys site, and Linksys support was unable to help. It seems to work only if you are connecting one PC, and there isn't much point in that. That isn't a network. I sent it back."

What's great about it: Easy to set up and configure, compatability with printers
What's not so great: Client software must be installed on other systems.
"The Linksys USB Wireless G Printserver worked great right out of the box. I used it to connect my mother-in-laws Epson Stylus CX-4800. The print server recognized the printer immediately and I was able to apply the security layer for the wireless network without any problems. It did take two attempts though to recognize the printer when first connecting with Wireless only. Since then it has worked great. They are able to have the printer down stairs while working and using the laptop upstairs. The reception strength and print speed makes it worthy, plus you don't have the cables running around the house. The only drawback was that the client software had to be installed on any computer that you wanted to use for configuring printers or print jobs. Besides the one issue a great product and highly recommended."

What's great about it: worked the first time.
What's not so great: Expensive.
"I bought this product to move my printer away from my computer, as I moved it to my living room us use on my projector. Since I had the printer drivers already installed on my machine I just followed the Directions on the cd it came with. I had no problems installing this software on my network, and my XP machine sees it just fine. Overall I am happy with the product. Guess I will have to wait and see how big a pain it is to change printers when I come to it :)"

What's great about it: Easy/quick to install, works great on vista and xp 32 bit OS
What's not so great: Does not work on vista or xp 64 bit OS and packing does not specify this
"I had no problem getting the server installed. Though it was a pain to drag my big laser printer into where the modem was to hardwire them all up to setup the wireless. Took me about an hour of trying to set it up on my x64 vista system till I contacted Linksys online CSR. They advised me it is not compatible with x64 systems and there are no drivers or software to support it. I suggested they put this info on the box and reviews. I hope they have by now I havent checked back since I purchased it. I did however get it to work flawlessly on my 32 bit vista home laptop. Sadly over 1/2 the PC/laptops in my house are x64 =("

What's great about it: Scans and prints over network and wireless.
What's not so great: Requires lots of configuration to work correctly.
"I purchased this item to connect a Lexmark Z7550. When I ran the cd and followed all the directions but found that the print server wasn't getting an ip address and had to hard reset the server. After that, it started working. I installed all the software and rebooted. After rebooting, the profile that I used to setup the print server took forever to load. I would only recommend this to someone if they absolutely need it."

BE AWARE- VISTA

What's great about it: Is wireless- to a point
What's not so great: Doesnt work with all windows vista computers
"I have two HP Computers both running vista. The desktop, the software took over an hour to get it to install, and then I had to restart several times for it to take affect. The laptop would not even start to install the drivers. When I called Linksys support, they kept telling me to make sure the printer was on and kept trying to make me feel like an idiot. After doing a search of my problem on the web, I found that its hit and miss with windows Vista. According to Linksys website, there is no known problems with Vista and the print server. But while talking with Linksys, they told me that it was not recommended as they had not tested the print server with Vista. Be aware- this product may or may not work with Your vista Computer."

What's great about it: Easy Installation
What's not so great: none
"I used a D-Link DPR-1260 print server for 2 years and for some reason, the unit would not work one day. I replaced it with the Lynksis product. So far the product works well. I installed the unit last night. I followed the directions and the installation process was very smooth. This Lynksis product has much better installation instructions than the D-Link product. In the future, I will stick with Linksys products."

What's great about it: Functionality
What's not so great: Installation
"Once my firewall was configured properly, installation was a breeze. I was not pleased with the knowledge of the tech support at Linksys due to the fact they told me the first print server was defective. Once I loaded the MAC into my allowable devices on my router, and used the IP address which was assigned by the router, installation went smoothly. Using the default IP that Linksys kept insisting I use, was the root of my grief. I have one Vista and one XP machine on the network and both perform well. The scanning function is a let down on my HP all in one, although it will work if you connect a machine to the print server first then initiate the job from the desktop rather than on the printer. I only wish it had more USB ports to connect additional devices."

What's great about it: easy setup, reliable, good utilities
What's not so great: none
"This product is perfect. It's easy to install and easy to maintain over time. I've used it as a wired and wireless print server. The utility to reconfigure the print server when you change your network around works perfectly. And the other utility to connect your computer the print server works well too. I wish all networking products would work like this one."

What's great about it: Easy to setup, easy to use
What's not so great: Difficult with multiple on same network
"I set 2 of these up in a small office for 2 seperate printers and 2 different PC's. The setup for the most part was very easy. First one installed in minutes, the second, not so easy. After lots of head scratching and switching back and forth a few times, got them both to talk on the network and be seen by both PC's."
