What's great about it: Big display, adjustable volume, good price, easy to set up
What's not so great: It doesn't tap my shoulders to wake up, J/K
Waking up to refreshing, life-giving music is SO MUCH BETTER than an ear shrieking, body rattling, electronically disastrous wake up alarm tone. I like this CD alarm clock radio. Thanks Sony!

What's great about it: Easy to set up; good sound quality; bright display; and nice to have a choice of alarm sounds
What's not so great: no back-up battery
I am reviewing this unit for what it is; it is an alarm clock. Based on previous reviews I read before making my purchase, I think some people thought this was a docking station or entertainment system. As an alarm clock, it offers everything you need. The display is big and clear, the sound quality is good and the radio reception brings in most stations. Others have found an issue with the volume control knob and make it sound as if it's hidden in the back of the unit. It isn't. If you look at the unit as if it was a clock, the front is 6 o'clock and the back is 12 o'clock. The volume control knob is at 2 o'clock. I have no problem reaching it. Lastly, some are concerned that it doesn't have a battery back-up. First, how often does your power really go out?; and two, if you need the security of a back-up alarm, use the alarm on your cell phone. Most of us have cell phones and even the basic models have an alarm. Based on other reviews, I almost didn't buy this product. But now I'm very happy that I did.

What's great about it: Large clock numbers
What's not so great: Audio sound
The large numbers are a very good feature. The sound is okay for a small radio but is nothing special. I would have preferred to have the auto-turn-on of the radio stay on for 90 minutes or two hours, but that's a minor inconvenience.

What's great about it: Large numbers, CD player, good sound, easy to tune and set the alarm, inexpensive price.
What's not so great: Nothing.
We purchased this radio clock as a replacement for one that was over 10 years old. We are extremely pleased with this clock, the radio works great, is easy to tune, the CD player is a nice added bonus and the alarm has never failed us. The large numbers are very easy to see in the dark and the brightness is not overwhelming. Unless you absolutely need a clock radio with a connection for an IPod, this is the clock for you. Great features and performance for an inexpensive price. I would definitely recommend this product.

What's great about it: Easy to read numbers. Easy to operate.
What's not so great: No battery backup.
I purchased the alarm clock a couple of months ago. I was looking for an electric clock that had fairly large numbers and was easy to read. Most of the alarm clocks I looked at with the larger numbers were battery powered only so they were ruled out during my search. This clock so far has kept accurate time, has been reliable, and most important to me, has large enough numbers to see easily. My only complaint is that there is no battery backup. There were several reviews from others that had the same complaint so I knew this before I purchased it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: didnt try it long enough to know
What's not so great: no battery backup, 40 dollars
its an alarm clock without battery backup! who thought of that idea????? well im heading back to return it now! it seems to be ok, other than the battery thing, it is a must and i assumed a standard to have a battery backup on an alarm clock! 40 bucks and they missed that important feature.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: EZ CD access; Big numbers
What's not so great: Awkward tuning for the radio
Handy for the CD. REALLY BIG numbers...very easy to see at night.
Awkward radio station tuning but I probably change the bedroom station about twice a year. Sound is all you'd expect from a clock radio.
After all "this ain't no disco".

What's great about it: Clock digits big and clock brightness controls good
What's not so great: No backup battery on clock/alarm, poor radio tuner, poor CD player and no preset radio buttons.
I selected the radio because of the in line port but forgot about other important options that I really miss; for example: a back up battery for the clock, a digital tuner (the tuner is not very good) and preset radio stations. Also, there is frequently a low buzz when playing CD's and CD player is very sensitive (it gets hung up on scratches on the CDs that my other CD players seem to be able to skip over and continue playing). Two good features- the clock digits are big enough to see and the dial brightness settings actually reduce the brightness low enough not to interfere with sleep.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Use this in my kitchen, have it on all day/night. Clear sound, good speakers, easy to read and operate. I love that it not only is a radio and cd player but can also play an Ipod on it as well. Best 3 in one.

What's great about it: Great for the price (under $40)
What's not so great: Sounds is okay; get what you pay for.
I purchased this for my daughter's room - huge numerical display, alarm, cd player, am/fm radio and cord that she connects her MP3 to so that she can take advantage of the speakers. Sound isn't that great but the ease of use can't be beat. Perfect for the bedroom.

What's great about it: Very easy to use, good sound quality, and size makes it fit out night stand easily. Very satisfied with the radio.
What's not so great: Nothing.
We had an older model Sony Dream radio/cd that lasted for years. But the new model is far better in ease of use and has excellent sound quality. Easy to set the alarm to get up and plays cds with great sound quality. Would certainly recommend this to anyone who needs a very good quality clock radio with a cd player.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is such a neat clock radio, plus it has a built-in CD player! For a small clock radio, the audio sounds great. I haven't found any that can compare with this one, so I highly recommend buying one of these. I just love it!

What's great about it: Easy to use -- easy to set clocks & alarms, easy to turn on/off, versatile.
What's not so great: I wish it would dock a Sansa mp3 player!
I was surprised how easy it is to set the clock and alarm, and that the unit looks much nicer than I would have thought--compact, elegant. I listen to npr a lot, so I am pleased with the excellent FM reception. I love that I can use my Sansa mp3 player as an accessory by input plug (wish I could dock it). Battery backup would have been nice.
This is much easier to use than any other CD alarm clock I have encountered. I have always had great experience with Sony electronic music devices in terms of reliability and excellent sound, so I expect to be satisfied with this product for a continue for a long time to come.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Nothing comes to mind
What's not so great: Controls are re-tarded. No repeat/shuffle feature.
Have an older Dream Machine for my daughter and we love it. Got this one for my son and was very confused and disappointed. Who makes a CD player that doesn't have a Repeat or Shuffle feature?
Also the volume and tuning dials are around the back and impossible to use easily. This will be going back to the store as soon as we get there.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: mostly intuitive clock and alarm setting
What's not so great: manual radio tuning; manual volume knob -- both hidden at back
its a sony, good quality sound. dual alarms that are reasonably intuitive to use while fumbling in the dark. but the killer is the volume knob. have to pick up the unit and turn it around to figure out which is the volume knob. great if you never change the volume but inaccessable while lying in bed. give this one a pass.

What's not so great: Sound quality, controls poorly located, and disrepute to Sony's name.
I bought this for my wife to replace a decade old radio. The sound quality was second to no sound at all-literally. We turned it off after our extreme disappointment.
Additionally, the controls are quite poorly located. You must reach to the back side to adjust the volume and turn or tip the radio to the side to see the station you are adjusting it to.
I am not use to being disappointed with Sony products. I am leaving to return it now.
