SynopsisTwo Pokémon have mystified locals in the region of Sinnoh, appearing in the region's myths and folklore. The one called Dialga is said to possess the power to control time, while the other, Palkia, allegedly can distort space. Recently, Team Galaxy, a sinister organization up to no good, attempts to rule the region by exploiting these Pokémons' powers. Now, you must travel to Sinnoh to complete your puzzling Pokédex and ultimately save the region. This latest edition features brand-new role playing gameplay true to the Pokémon tradition. Marking the dynamic debut of Lucario, Munchlax and Weavile from the can't-miss Pokémon movies, Pearl gives you a shining glimpse at the expansive Pokémon universe. Along with its gaming counterpart Diamond, Pearl pits you as either a girl or boy trainer in this awesome new adventure. Use your Nintendo DS's dual slots to transfer Pokémon from the Game Boy Advance Pokémon games and enjoy cross-platform fun. You can even link up with Pokémon Ranger to access additional content.

Pokemon Pearl Version
07/19/2008
By DSWii
Pros: Interesting storyline, many things to do, and more
"The Pokémon are back in this brand new hit! You’ve probably heard of the Pokémon games of the past, such as Emerald, and LeafGreen, but Pokémon Pearl is like something that came from the future! It takes place in a whole new region called Sinnoh, filled with Pokémon you’ve never seen before, such as Buneary and Glameow. Similar to Emerald, there are fabulous Pokémon contests in Pearl. These contests now have the three categories of visual, dance, and acting. Instead of poke blocks, there is a new food called Poffin. There is also a wonderful new system located in Jubilife City called the GTS, which stands for Global Trading Station. To use it, you need a Computer, and either a wireless router, or a Wi-Fi connection plug. You have to have at least one gym badge before you can have any access to it at all, but luckily for you, your first gym badge is awaiting you at Jubilife City. When you use the GTS, you are shown to a special room in which you can put a pokemon up for trade, and you can also seek a pokemon you want. Note that on the GTS, if there is a particular Pokémon you want, but haven’t seen it, then you cannot search for it or ask for it. You can also explore the vast underground tunnels of Sinnoh, and dig into the walls of these tunnels for treasures with your trusty pickax and hammer. The underground is also the home of your secret base, you just choose where to put it. There are also a few instances where you help a trainer find their way through a cave, and they follow you around and restore your health right after they have helped you win a double battle! There are over 150 brand new Pokémon, making the Pokémon Species population add up to a grand total of 492! There is much more to this game, but this passage is already large enough! All Pokémon fans absolutely must have this Pokémon Pearl work of art proudly displayed in their Pokémon Hall of Fun!"
"This is an awesome game with an overall improved look over the previous generations. I have so much pokemon that I cannot fit them in my roster at all. Unfortunately, with the way Nintendo runs their special Pokemon promotions, it is totally impossible to catch 'em all."

Great Game
04/18/2008
By flightmanfrom new york
Pros: Hours of fun, tons of extras after you complete the game Cons: inobtainable pokemon
"Over all this is probably my favorite pokemon game ever. The game has a great storyline that provides hours of entertainment. The game does start off fairly slow but it does get better as you go. Also many new legendary pokemon that are fun to battle with. One of my only complaints is that some of the new legendary pokemon are not available unless you use some form of cheating. Overall it is a great game but I do not like how some new pokemon are not available to people who do not want to cheat to get them."

another winner!
11/20/2007
By Sundressfrom Portland, OR
Pros: hours and hours of entertainment Cons: a little repetitive, slow at times, confusing
"I have never been into pokemon but I've always been a fan of the games. You don't need to be a pokemon expert to enjoy the games and everything you need to know is taught in the games. I was very excited about the release of these two new games last april. I've been playing ever since then. Unfortunately i'm in college so I don't have all the time in the world to put into playing this game but according to the timer on the game I have put over 26 hours into playing and I've only got 4 badges. It's still entertaining after putting that much time into it.
The wifi battles and trading is probably my favorite new feature. It allows me to battle with friends even though we now live pretty far away.
These games just keep getting better!"

Pokemon Pearl
10/10/2007
By superlamerfrom Bay Area, CA
Pros: wi-fi (gts) connectivity Cons: stricter rules re: playing with traded characters
"What is amazing about this new generation of Pokemon games is that one can access Nintendo's WiFi service and obtain different Pokemon via trades with users from all over the globe, versus from trades with local users (those standing next to you with their own game and ds). The only problem to this is that you may only trade for Pokemon that you have already "encountered" in the game somehow (battles, wild, et al.).
Going in hand with that limitation, it is frustrating that there are relatively few characters that one can encounter early in the game that are worth battling with / raising. aside from the starter pokemon, one can really only choose Shinx as a worthwhile Pokemon with whom to battle.
Along with the early strong Pokemon limitations, one can not really battle with traded Pokemon (via GTS, e.g.), because Pokemon won't listen at certain levels until certain badges are met. When you start the game, you can only fight with traded Pokemon up to level 10 until you beat the second gym leader. This is ridiculous, since the 2nd gym leader has Pokemon in the levels 17-19. So in order to beat the second gym leader, you can only really do so with characters ibtained not through trading but from your own game. Have fun with Shinx/Ponyta/starter... every other Pokemon early on is "lame."
An excellent game, nonetheless, but the above cons are really frustrating."
