I Have always had the best of luck with Sony products, and this CD player is no exception. This is a great portable CD player, I stick it in my tune belt and mow the lawn, or run, or workout downstairs or at the gym, couldn't do without it.
What's great about it: No skipping, sound is great
What's not so great: everything is great, can't say anything bad about it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this portable cd player because I was tired of how horrible MP3, AAC, sound like.
If you are looking for something that dounds better than an iPod, do not buy this.
I plugged in my Grado Labs 325is and on the first 3 seconds of the track I realized what a terrible mistake I made.
The sound is horrible! Tried 24k gold cd and... my compress ipod sounded better.
Do not buy for sound quality.

Off the charts studio sound quality, digital Mega Bass sound system, sturdy build quality, attractive appearance, shuffle, repeat, and bookmark program play modes. Just another excellent product from Sony. The Sony Walkman CD Player D-EJ011 is without question the absolute best portable CD player that Best Buy sells. This portable player offers an extensive feature set. Those features include a 1-bit D/A converter for awesome sound, headphone 3.5mm output jack, skip-free electronic shock protection, digital volume control, LCD display, battery level indicator, automatic shut-off, hold switch, CD-R/RW playback, play, pause, stop, forward skip, and reverse skip CD transport controls. The Sony Walkman CD Player also utilizes a user selectable Automatic Volume Limiter System (AVLS) volume distortion reduction system. All of my CD’s sound wonderful on this portable with clear vocals and well defined bass performance. I have not been able to make this portable CD player skip during playback under any circumstances with the shock protection enabled or disabled. This Sony Walkman CD player is a great companion for the morning jog, long walks, trips to the beach, late night at home private listening sessions, or when you’re sitting poolside taking a sip from that refreshing cool glass of iced tea. Please remember that in order to achieve audiophile quality sound reproduction from this unit, you should disable the electronic shock protection system during non-active use. The supplied ear-clip headphones offer very decent sound quality. However, the audio playback of this unit can be improved upon in my experience with an upgrade to the Sony Extra Bass MDR-XB500 headphones. These Extra Bass headphones produce copious amounts of detailed dynamic bass when combined with the playback accuracy of the Sony D-EJ011 Walkman CD Player. The Sony Walkman is powered by 2 AA cell batteries or can be powered with an optional AC-E45A AC power adapter. I recommend either Energizer Max or Duracell Ultra batteries for maximum audio performance and battery life for this portable CD player. The Sony Walkman CD player D-EJ011 does not offer a FM/AM tuner, MP 3 CD playback, or remote controller. Good Luck. Enjoy.

Worked great for two days and then would just quit in the middle of a song. I returned it for a refund.
What's great about it: Not too much.
What's not so great: size and dependability

great player, super good sound, easy to pack under my jacket and In the winter I add earmuff earphones for those really cold walks.

Overall this is a decent cd player. It has great features. My only complaint is that the player will stop playing and turn off for no clear reason.

I received the expensive sony cd walkman set that included the car tape so it can be played in the car. I got it as a x-mas gift and simply loved it, used it ALL THE TIME!!!
Highly recommend the extra cost well worth it!!

Typical to Sony CD players the sound is great. I also bought this one because my old Sony CD player could not play CD-R/RW discs. I was GREATLY disappointed when I opened the package and saw how small the control buttons are. I do not like the idea I'll have to pull out glasses just to see the button. The old design was MUCH better. It would be perfect with new sound and features and old button controls.
What's great about it: Sound is great and it plays CD-R/RW discs
What's not so great: The buttons are WAY too small and you have to slide the open button
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this item back in Dec '07 @ BB. Knowing Sony is suppose to be "top of the line" brand, I was surpised to discover that after a year went pass, it started shutting off often, didn't think of it @ first, thought maybe it was my CDs but i read other reviews and they have the same problem. I paid $40 for this thing, @ least it coulda gave me till Dec '09 to start acting up! I'm throwing this thing in the trash and buy me another one but it won't be this brand again!
What's great about it: Sounds good
What's not so great: Keeps shutting off!

I bought this to while away the 40 minute bus ride to work. It's a great little machine. Simple and straightforward, compact and easy to operate. The battery life is good. I'm at about hour 10 and still going strong. Actually the battery insertion is not the easiest, and the earphones that come with it are not very good; mine were broken on the second day (mysteriously, a wire poked through the earpiece) so make sure you have your own. But as I said the player works great, and the battery life is good. As for the battery insertion - actually the battery removal, take the innermost battery out first.
I would recommend this to a friend!

As a portable CD player this model is a good buy. It is quite sensitive however and can't handle even minor scratches which play easily on full size CD players or on a computer. This may be a feature of all portable CD players.
What's great about it: good sound; good skip protection
What's not so great: doesn't handle mildly scratched disks well

Very disappointed in this SONY product. We purchased several to be used in a school and the player would turn off unexpectedly. We changed the batteries and the "Hold" button was on but still we had trouble.
What's not so great: The cd player turns itself off, despite battery changes, "hold" feature and other attempts.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My friends love to use the CD Player. It is very durable. It is a great CD Player for only $30.00. I would RECOMMEND it to anyone who wants a basic CD Player.
What's great about it: STRONGLY built
What's not so great: It got a few scratches that are hard to see.

I really like the Sony Walkman CD player. Great sound. Volume limiter setting cuts volume to 1/2. Great for when I let my Daughter and Son use it.

I love my Sony CD player/Walkman. I performs very well under the stress I put it through. I always carry it on its side in a pouch. It has never skipped. I also love the lock feature, especially for carrying it in a pouch. The lock feature prevents it from turning off or changing tracks if you accidentally bump a button. Also, the remote feature is wonderful. I can put the walkman behind me and vacuum, mop, or anything I want. With the remote I do not have to take it off and take it out of its pouch in order to change tracts or turn it on or off. I love it!
I would recommend this to a friend!
