Very Decent Performers

What's great about it: Sound quite good, especially for the price What's not so great: Screw heads are a little soft.
"These sound very good, more so when taking price into account. I installed them in a plasterboard ceiling, being sure to remove any backing paper from the underside of the fiberglass insulation. Other than that, there was no other special treatment in the ceiling cavity. Nice bass response, mid and hi-end just fine as well, and a smooth and "full" sound. The tweeter can be "aimed", which might be a plus in some installations. Speakers are equipped with the now-standard plastic "clamps" for mounting. Note that the phillips screw heads can be chewed up fairly easily if you're using a screw gun, so set the clutch to "loose" at first. Otherwise no complaints. The speakers even come with a wire "loop" to help you remove the grilles if necessary. This review is purely subjective (I did no direct comparisons), but I have listened to a lot of ceiling speakers and these are just fine for the price. Good for whole-house sound, surround speakers etc. Might even be good for front speakers in a TV room, but I usually go with bookshelf or larger enclosures for these."

Good surround speakers

What's great about it: excellent sound and easy installation What's not so great: none
"I'm using these as surround speakers for my home theater system and I have them powered by an Onkyo TX-SR605 receiver. I bought them because I was scared to go low-end but didn't want to spend a bundle on speakers that would only be used for surround. I had already wired for surround and the template that comes in the box made installation very easy. The tweeter is aimable which was nice and I had both speakers mounted in under an hour. After mounting them I used the auto-calibration feature on my Onkyo and it recognized them as "medium" sized speakers based on the range of sound they could reproduce. They really sound good as surround speakers and I've never once wished that I'd spent more and haven't been disappointed with the sound reproduction at all. They have easily handled their role as surround speakers and do a good job of reproducing a fairly wide range of audio. I plan on buying two more of them this month to make the jump from 5.1 to 7.1."
