What's great about it: good looking, efficient, inexpensive
What's not so great: fan is a little loud but not bad
For the price that I paid for the microwave it looks great, works well and It was a great value. It is a little bit loud because of the built in fan but nothing I can't deal with. Very pleased with it!!!

What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: Short life
Sad that we purchased 14 mos ago but just got around to installing 6mos ago and it has died. But since it is now out of manufacturer warranty, all costs are out of pocket. Avoid this brand, it is defective. The heating tube is out, the table turns and all other functions work but it won't heat your food items.

What's great about it: cheap
What's not so great: poor quality, worse customer service
not even 18 months, magnatron has died. Light works, fan works, turntable spins, but no cooking. GE customer service is trained to do one thing: upsell repairs that cost more a new product. They do not troubleshoot, they are not there to help. They are there to sell.
When I called customer service, they were friendly enough, and very slick. Scheduled an appointment without telling me any of the terms. When I called back, and asked specific questions, then I learned it would be $100 just to schedule a 'diagnosis visit' If you need repairs, this $100 fee is not deducted from the repair total. Then, there is parts and labor cost. The GE customer service rep refused to quote me the cost of the magnatron, or the estimated labor cost. Wouldn't say how much work was involved, wouldn't tell me what the part cost, and refused to escalate me to a supervisor. When I insisted, the rep hung up on me and I was too angry to call back again.
Never, ever again. I will never buy another GE product, ever. Are you listening GE?

What's not so great: Poorly built and has a history of breaking very early.
After only 14 months of occasional use this GE microwave stopped working. The magnatron tube failed. This is the part that actually makes food heat up. It's the equivalent to the engine of a car. I called GE and they said that the one year warranty had expired so they will not provide a replacement or cover the cost of repairs. I was told by the customer service rep that GE can send a repair man out at the cost of $90 PLUS the cost of parts and labor. In the end, it would cost just as much to replace the microwave than it would to repair it.
As if I were not aggravated enough , a small amount of research showed that GE was well aware that the magnatron tubes on these units were prone to failure. Instead of trying to correct a critical defect with their product, GE chose to simply tell me and many others who had the same problem that there is nothing they can do so either fix it, or buy a new one. I chose to buy an new one get this piece of garbage out of my home.
The simple solution to the problem would have been for GE to recognize their product has a defect and fix it when it breaks. If the magnatron tube were replaced by GE, I would have been completely happy. Instead, they played the "out of warranty" card in order to justify not taking responsibility for producing an item that they knew was defective.
Do not buy this microwave or any other products from GE. They clearly do not stand behind their products or respect the people that spend their hard earned money to buy their cheaply built appliances.

We really enjoying the new microwave. It's so pretty and now that it is above the stove,we have regained valuable counter space in our small kitchen. It is quick and very user friendly. It's a tad bit loud, but you get used to it very quickly

Replaced a GE spacemaker that "died". like the replacement, easy to use, a bit noisier that previous appliance. Miss the feature that I could mute the end of cycle and reminder NOISE. can't do that on this one. doesn't attract the fingerprints as bad as previous model, smaller capacity, but enough for us. over all very pleased with the appliance. appreciate the staff at Best Buy in Golden, they are very knowledgeable.

Purchased this micro less than 2 years ago. Just stopped heating up for no reason, called a repair person and was told it would cost just as must to purchase a new one. Like another reviewer i alread equipt our new kitchen with stainless GE products. Won't purchase anymore of their products unless they replace it, which ive been on hold waiting for a costomer service person for 25 mins so far

What's not so great: short life
This microwave lasted only 18 months. Would not recommend purchasing this microwave or any other GE product. Very disappointing. The GE stove we bought along with this microwave is also broke. The broiler stopped working.

The oven seems to be operating as anyone would expect a microwave to, but there are some annoying quirks about it that didn't exist in the last GE model oven we had.
The Good:
--Easy to install
--Oven is relatively quiet (excluding the exhaust)
--Works well
The Bad:
--The exhaust fan is EXTREMELY loud. And it only has 2 speeds, low and high. A medium would have been nice.
--The door is hard to shut. Most oven doors shut with a light close. This one takes some force, and I find it swinging back out toward my face all the time.
--The range light is very dim. Even on high it's only as bright as the "night" setting on our last GE oven.
The Good:

What's great about it: Easy to use, saves space.
What's not so great: Vented outside, it is very loud.
We were in the market for an over the stove microwave/vent, but were not ready to purchase one. Turns out, the vent was required for C.O. and we had to get it. I was happy to see that Best Buy had a smaller 1.5Cu. ft. unit at a much more affordable price. It's wonderful to have and a must for limited counter space.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This has been such a wonderful microwave. The microwave that was over our stove went out, and we replaced it with this GE/Stainless, and it was the best choice for our entire family! It has many great features that you would normally only get from a higher end model. Great product at an even Greater price!

What's great about it: Exterior design, stainless, easy read pad, price
What's not so great: Positioning of range light, low wattage
This unit has the exterior appearance of microwaves which cost triple what we paid (under $300 with taxes). The stainless design is modern and the key pad is simple and easy to use - it's not a mass of buttons like on some other microwaves. This is not a high output oven and does not have the convection feature, but it serves our purposes just fine. We have one minor gripe, and that's the positioning of the light underneath. Instead of being located in the center, it's all the way to the rear where it illuminates the wall instead of the range top cooking area. We noticed that models from several other manufacturers have the same design.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Purchase a GE Profile Microwave Oven/Hood for a kitchen remodel. The oven was professionally installed on 7/3/2009. Came home on 9/2/10, 14 months later and the oven was beeping. Touch pad was readying, (Service may be required - control Pad Shorted Out) found it interesting that the the product diagnosed itself. Anyway, don't believe in extended warranties. When I purchase an appliance, I would expect it to last at least 5 years. 10 years would be the expected life expectancy. Unfortunately they don't make appliances like that use too. I am very disappointed, NO MORE G.E. for me. Unfortunately this oven was purchased during a kitchen remodel, purchase 3 other GE appliances. Fingers crossed they last longer than a year.

What's great about it: The look and how quiet it is when heating food. It was easy to put up.
I wanted everyone to know that I really enjoy my new GE Stainless Steel Microwave. All the "Review's" I read were all pretty bad and I want everyone to know that I really like mine. It was extreemly easy to put up. I like how quiet it is and efficient. The only thing I would of liked to improve it would be to have the light more towards the front of the microwave. It will definitely be harder to change the light bulb when I have to do that. Other than that -- it's great!

What's great about it: style, display, turntable on/off, steel rack

I didn’t understand all the negative reviews until I got it home. It’s a great style, the display is good, it has the turntable on/off option, has the steel rack for stacking, it has a very bright light compared to the others in the under $250 range, and the fan was a little loud but not too bad as others had written and it doesn’t stay on like others had said. Installation was easy, this was the second over the range I have installed. I chose not to wait for a friend to help me, due to either my lack of patience or just my excitement to have a new microwave, and mounted it myself with no problem. It’s a little awkward and I recommend two people but alone is feasible. I turned on the fan and it was loud. There isn’t much of a discernible difference between high and low either. They are both loud, louder than it seemed in the store even though there is much more noise in that environment. Also, the light was not nearly as bright as in the store. Then I discovered there was only one light bulb on this one when the display had 2 bulbs, and the light output still was not as bright per bulb. I went back to the store and discovered the model # was slightly different. My receipt stated model JVM1540SNSS, the store display had a mfg tag of JVM1540SN1SS (notice the 1) and my mfg tag had JVM1540SPSS (notice the P). Either way, it was different than the display model. Just be aware that what you’re getting isn’t necessarily EXACTLY as displayed. GE took out one light bulb, possibly changed the fan and who knows what else. If you don’t mind the noise or the dim light, it’s nice, however I have no long term info or cooking quality reviews. I was aggravated about this so I went back and bought the Whirlpool WHM1163XVS; no rack or turntable off button, but it has great reviews, it’s quiet and has a real high and low fan. Plus you can program the light to turn on/off at certain times.
