What's great about it: extensions
i got this for free with one of my jvc camcorders and love it ive been wanting one for a few years but never had the extra cash to pay so much for one. theres 2 different extensions on the legs, u can tilt it on a angle where the cam corder sits, you can take off the attachment that screws into the cam corder, the only brittle part is the crank but u really dont even need to use that unless u really need a extra few inches it still feels pretty secure. it folds up pretty nice and easy to take out

What's great about it: Got it out of the Open Box Area
What's not so great: Brand name's percieved quality.
It is a Tri-Pod, nothing fancy about that.
It holds a camera, and does it with ease, comes with a carry bag, what more can you ask for.
I went in to buy a hand held digital video camera to make some videos of car stuff. I knew from working with a friend that having a tri-pod would be a good idea, so I was going to buy one no matter what. This one was in the discount area because it was an open box, so it was five bucks cheaper than the non-open box. Nothing could be wrong there.
The Associate checked it your, she said the thing that often goes missing with open box tri-pods is the camera mount. This one had two, it had the tri-pod and it had the case, SOLD!

What's great about it: Comes with a nifty carrying case and an extra quick release plate
What's not so great: Flimsy
I loved it when I first opened it and set it up, but I used it once and it broke. The tension spring that goes on the base under the quick release popped out the first time I took the camera off. I collapsed the entire thing and put it in a bag to carry it to my car. When I got it out of my car and pulled it out to put it away in it's own case both the adjustment handles had fallen off. One of them apparently rolled out of the bag when I laid it down because I can't even find it. There were no instructions that came with it. The adustments didn't work well even when they were still attached. Movements were choppy/sticky even with it loosened, and when tightened it didn't completely lock into place.

What's not so great: ok sturdy
Bought this to use with my laser level. Sets up easy, the levels make it easy to level the laser and it's fairly sturdy. The elevation crank is a little stiff but for the dollars and what I'm using it for it's great.

What's great about it: lightweight
What's not so great: possible long-term durability issues?
Bought this as part of a Canon HD camcorder package deal. If buying separately, would have likely gone with a more expensive model. However, after using it, it's sturdy, easy to use & very lightweight. Due to it's lightweight design, however, not sure of its long-term robustness. I will say that this was likely the best part of the aforementioned package deal!

What's great about it: Price, quality, carry case, extra mounting plate, ease of use
What's not so great: Nothing ....Great tripod !!
I bought my daughter this tripod and a camera for christmas. Its lightweight, I liked the fact that it came with a carry case and extra mounting plate. I have used it a few times and found it easy to set up, and very stable.
I recently purchased a camera for my younger daughter and purchased this tripod for her also.

What's great about it: Easy to use, not fragile. Cool color finish
This does all the basic functions. I have enjoyed the tripod. They have super expensive ones, but there is no need to spend the extra money unless you need voice commands or some other stuff that is above the bar.
Get this if you need a tripod and don't need bells and whistles you wont ever use
A+

What's great about it: Price, Weight, Carrying Case, Two Camera Adapters, Portability
My last tripod suffered an unfortunate accident, as I use them primarily at the gun range (I doubt even a $500 tripod can withstand a direct hit from a few pounds of tannerite)... This Dynex is what I chose as a replacement. I needed a cheap tripod to help with basic point and shoot photographs and video. For what I bought it for, this tripod is excellent! Just remember that it is a $40 unit, and not made to be used, in my opinion, for anything more than a recreational photography aid. As others have said, the controls can be a bit sticky, making panning video shots a bit tricky. This doesn't bother me as I usually set it up and leave it be. It will also occasionally blow over in strong wind. This is expected, and I bring along something heavy to anchor the unit with. I have encountered this with every inexpensive tripod I've owned.
I've gone through about half a dozen tripods, so far this one has been the best. It came with a carrying case, and two camera adapters. The additional adapter was a pleasant surprise as I am normally switching between cameras (photo/video) when I'm using the tripod.
I would recommend this tripod for the average user. But once again, don't expect $500 quality and durability from a $40 entry-level unit. Treat it with the same care as the camera equipment that gets mounted to it, and it will last a long time. The best part for me, if it takes a stray bullet, or gets inadvertently set up too close to the tannerite again... I can go pick up another for only $40.

What's great about it: It works, it was price efficient
What's not so great: I'm not a pro so I can't tell if it's anything special.
This was my first tripod purchase so I cannot compare it to other brands or others that I have owned but what I can say is that I did a little research before settling on this one and it's turned out to be a completely adequate tripod.
I didn't need any fancy features, just something that would work. I use this tripod to hold my video camera for recording my new family (7 mo old twin girls and my wife). My first use was to record opening Christmas gifts and it worked beautifully and I've used it twice since with equally great results.
The controls are a little stiff and I am not sure I am even using them 100% correctly but it's still been a great tripod for its purpose.
I'd recommend this to any beginner videographer for sure!

What's great about it: everything
What's not so great: nothing
this was one of the least expensive options for a tripod. Not sure what the other tripods have that makes them so superior or pricey, but this one works great, it's easy to set up and break down, it's plenty tall enough, and comes in its own case.
