I was able to get a great deal on this game at a local Best Buy store and am really happy with the purchase. Its a pretty easy pick up and play game but it also has incredible depth due to the challenge of the higher levels. I don't know if I'd pay full retail price for the game but its a great game and I'd probably buy it again for anything less than $50.
What's great about it: Fun, high quality guitar, good song selection
What's not so great: Guitar is wired, $80 is a bit steep.

We bought this for my nephew for Christmas, he has a PS2. He'd been wanting it for a really long time. We have it for XBOX 360 and knew it was a blast to play! The whole family loves to do this, it's alot of fun. There's a ton of great music and if you have the online capability set up with your system you can purchase songs for this also! We are big gamers and would recommend this to anyone!
What's great about it: Fun, challenging, new skills learned, great music!
What's not so great: none

GUITAR HERO TWO WAS A GREAT GAME, AND YOU CAN PLAY THIS GAME FOREVER, I LIKE THE FACT THAT THIS GUITAR IS ABLE TO WORK FOR GH3 ASWELL. THIS GAME NEVER GETS OLD AND HAS GREAT CLASSIC SONGS LIKE 'CARRY ON MY WAYWARD SON' I RECOMMEND IT

I loved this game it is an awesome simulation. Me and my friends play this a lot. The only bad thing is i did not know many of the songs and i beat the game very fast.

I purchased guitar hero II for 360 about 5 months ago, the game works great and so does the guitar. hours of fun. not to mention i purchased it online and it was at my house no more then 4 days later. very quick. overall i would recommend this product to everyone!

Since we all can't be rock stars, but we all want to feel like one, Guitar Hero II allows you to bridge the gap between reality and fantasy. Built as a simulator for 60s, 70s, 80s, and recent rock music; GHII is a great example of a simple game that brings hours of enjoyment. While the true enjoyment is for the rock lover is all of us, kids will enjoy the feeling of playing a guitar, and have a great time doing so with minimal difficulty in the easier levels. Adults will enjoy reliving a younger time as the music selection spans 4 decades of music, and will finally allow you to either play for the first time, or go back to those days of your garage band that never quite made it. On the Xbox360, there are additional downloadable songs to continue the enjoyment, as well as tracks from little known & underground bands. However, the true enjoyment comes from just playing.
What's great about it: Great music, awesome experience for young and old
What's not so great: Higher difficulty only for the dedicated & talented

I recently bought an Xbox360 for Madden 08 and the upcoming Halo 3 release. I can play Madden for a while but it wasn't holding my interest. I wanted a fun game to come home after work and play as well as be enjoyable for guests. This was definitely the game for that. The game is so enjoyable that time just simply flies by while playing it. I've had friends coming to my house just to play it. The best aspect is the game can be enjoyed by all types of player. Great for families.
Pros: Great gameplay, great music, fun for all, Cooperative game play(One plays lead guitar, other plays bass or rhythm), Face off mode multiplayer.
Cons: No Live Multiplayer.
Don't let the extra cost of the controller deter you from this game. You will throughly enjoy this game and be able to play it for many hours

It has been a long time since I have played, and reviewed, a good game on the XBOX 360 – and Guitar Hero II has brought me back to sing, or strum its praises. Guitar Hero II on Xbox 360 is the best iteration of the hit music rhythm game yet, and it brings a fun, non-shooter game that everyone can play on the XBOX 360. With over 65 songs, and planned marketplace content for download a week after the games release, this game is awesome. You can not help but to catch yourself moving around and jamming in your living room. Add another guitar and a friend to rock out as a pair and reach the achievements and greatness in true multiplayer fashion. The only thing this game lacks is HD next-gen graphics and online multiplayer, though they might take care of the multiplayer online issue through an update. RedOctane and Harmonix put their best foot forward with this release. It's a bit pricey at $90 and doesn't have the wireless guitar that I wanted, but it is definitely worth picking up.

This game is really fun to play alone or at parties, especially with 2 guitars! The songs are ok, but I would've liked to see more popular songs. The included guitar looks cool, but I wish it were wireless. I say, wait for GHIII, and get the new wireless guitar!

This is probably the best game purchase we have ever made. My house is always full of teens waiting for their chance to star. It is fun for even the beginner - yet the challenges never end. Highly recommend this one - can't wait for more guitar hero games!!

This game has lots of features for continued enjoyment, song list is extensive (some familiar, some new) The difficulty levels encourage progression in skill level and are set at reasonable intervals.

Guitar Hero II(GH2) is an excellent follow up to the smash hit Guitar Hero.. The 360 version adds HD graphics & sound to keep the game fresh looking, also to give the game some longevity, you can access downloadable content through Xbox Live Market Place. You can download themes, icons and best of all Old and New tracks for the game. It's a great buy and a must have for fans of the series! Can't wait for Guitar Hero III!

I like this game because i am a fiddler and a cello player, and it helps me stretch my fingers out. It it cool, and looks good in hdtv. This is a great game. I recommend it to anyone!

Well now here is where I differ from the rest of the people that reviewed this game. Although I "Recommended" the game with 4 stars, I certainly don't think this game is "Outstanding". On the Xbox 360 you have the option of downloading new songs (for a little real money) and you have the achievements that are fun to get. I think one of the major things this game is lacking is the online multiplayer. This game is a lot of fun as it is, and I am lucky to have a fiancé that enjoys playing with me as well. But since a good number of the achievements are for co-op it would be a lot better to be able to play this over Xbox live. This is the one reason it lost a star in my eyes.
As far as game play goes it is certainly a lot of fun, it has more then 70 songs including newer ones and older ones. In this game a great deal of them are however covers of the originals and not sang/played by the original artists. They are still fun to play though. The difficulty levels do give the game some nice replay mostly because until you beat easy it is very difficult to play medium and so on through all 4 levels of play.
Guitar Hero II also has a lot of unlockables that you can "buy" in the in game store with the money you earn during your tour. (The easy difficulty does not give you any money) You can "buy" new characters and guitar "finishes" (basically skins). Also, new songs by no-name artists probably made specifically for this game that you can play in the campaign mode but not earn money for. There are also new guitars to unlock and buy in the store. To earn money you need to play songs, every 3 stars or higher song gives you some money (also if you replay a song and get a higher star you will get the difference because higher stars give you more money).
In conclusion, this is a very excellent game and I strongly recommend it to all. Just make sure if you are in to getting all of the achievements in games that you have someone good at video games to play with.

Guitar Hero II for the XBOX360 is a great game that is surprisingly addicting and more fun than I expected. This game was received as a silly gift and has become a fun, group activity, when entertaining. Highly recommended.

I know that many people know what this game is about. If you are an Xbox 360 owner, I strongly recommend this game. It has tremendous replay value, probably more than any game I have ever played. While I wish there was online multiplayer, I can still have some fun playing and practicing songs over and over again.

GHII is the most addicting game on any console! On the Xbox 360, it is especially good because of all the bonus songs not available on the PS2 and the graphics are much better. Overall, an extremely fun game to play either by yourself or with a group of friends!
