What's great about it: Quiet, clean clothes, little water and soap usage
What's not so great: Have to leave the door open and wipe it down after each use
I am just amazed at how quiet this washer is. I have it in an upstairs laundry closet in a shower pan. I was worried because of all the warnings about front loaders and vibrations upstairs. It is much quieter and has much less vibration than my old front loader. It is truly amazing at how clean clothes come out with so little detergent and water. I used to add borax and washing soda to every wash or it wouldn't smell clean - this washer gets all odors out with cold water and just the he detergent.
The capacity is really good. No problem washing a large queen size quilt or a big load of jeans/sweats. It does take about an hour for a load but as everyone says, drying takes a lot less time. I like the extra rinse button. I can also add extra water if I want and a pre-wash cycle. It has lots of options: 6 x 6 x 6 things to choose with 5 preset cycles. Easy to use and intuitive to operate. I was taken aback at how expensive washers are but this low end washer is really great. I don't see any need for more bells and whistles for double the money.
A friend warned me about front loaders leaving the clothes really twisted together but not this one. At the end of the cycle, it does a gentle spin, stops, then back the other way 2-3 times for a minute or so and that seemed to loosen up the clothes after the fast spin. They came out a lot less tangled than they ever did in the old top loader. I should have gotten this washer a long time ago.
It is so quiet that I can barely hear it downstairs. There is more noise from the drain water down the pipe than from the washer. I could probably sleep in the next room with it running.

What's great about it: everythings great. easy to use.
What's not so great: The child lock out button does not apply to the power button. My son loves this loophole. I have to start all over
Everything about this washer is great. The buttons. the ease. straightfoward instructions. No problems so far.
The only issue I have with the washer is that the child lockout button does not apply to the power button. all the buttons will not work when the child lock is on, except for the power button. Which is located at the same level as all the rest. My son loves this programming flaw. It's the only button that will get me across the house in 5 seconds. Once it powers down, you have to start your load all over Very big pain in the @$$. Parents with tots beware. Very easy to use. Our older kids know how to use.

What's great about it: Value, performance
What's not so great: Make sure you buy hammer arrestors if you don't have them
Got this washer with the matching dryer for $700 during the 2009 Thankgiving special. We have had no problems with it or the dryer. After reading these reviews I will pay more attention to what we need to do to make sure we avoid the mildew problems associated with front load washers.

I got this washer about 3 months ago and have loved having it. It has all the settings I need and cleans throughly. I also love that it is a front loader that makes it easier to get everything out and of course uses less water but I would get the pedestal it makes it easier still and you have storage.

What's great about it: LG initial quality, quiet, efficient
What's not so great: Fingers crossed about mold
My wife and I purchased an LG front loader W/D set about 4 years ago and were happy with the pair. One day we started noticing a musty smell in our clothes and investigated to find out about a chronic problem with front loaders and mold. We had done nothing to prevent the mold (didn't use HE soap, didn't leave the door open between washes, etc.), but there was also no info to warn us of the possibility at that time. I dug into the washer to try and clean it out and it was totally infested with mold. We used Tilex and Bleach and got a lot of the mold out, but our clothes still smelled.
Thankfully BB had this washer on sale for half price just before Thanksgiving. We debated switching to a top loader to avoid repeating our previous issues, but we do love the quality and functionality of these LG washers. So we are taking a gamble that using HE soap and wiping out the door and leaving it open will prevent development of mold this time. Plus this model has an added tub-clean feature that we are using once a month with a cleaning tablet. Our fingers are crossed that this washer will continue to perform up to its initial level for years to come.

What's great about it: It's quiet, doesn't vibrate at all
What's not so great: Long cycles
I had a front loading washing machine for years an loved it. Whe the mother board went out, it was more to fix it than it was to replace the machine. I was hesitant about LG but the machine is awesome. It is very quiet, has absoloutely no vibration and cleans extremely welll. It runs much longer than my old machine but it gets the job done and very well.

What's great about it: Does a large load, easy set up - did myself - quick cycles, overall great!
What's not so great: Nothing
This washer does large loads and you can use quick cycles if your clothes aren't very dirty. It wrings out a ton of the water so dryer time is also shortened. A great buy!

What's great about it: Delivery was awesome, great machine for the money
What's not so great: It automatically sets the wash temp to warm so you have to change it every time.
I bought this machine 6 months ago and wanted to give it time to disappoint me. No such luck! After upgrading from a low-end front loader, I couldn't be happier. It's very quiet and my clothes are cleaner than ever. My water bill went down even though the loads are bigger.
Thanks LG and Best Buy...life's good!

What's great about it: Easy/intuitive, cleans clothes well, gentle
What's not so great: Long cycle times
We’ve had the LG WM2016CW washer for a little over 6 months, and it’s been great. It cleans our clothes well with very little water or detergent, it’s easy and intuitive to use, it is very gentle on our clothes- including ladies delicates (no tangling in an agitator!), and it is VERY quiet compared to our old top loader. We can’t hear it running with the dryer on, unless the washer is filling with water.
Our concrete floor in the utility room isn’t level. When we had the washer installed, the Best Buy delivery crew checked it with a bubble level, but I made them stay for a spin cycle with towels in the washer. The washer shook some the first time, but with some further adjustment of the washer’s feet it is now rock solid even on the “Extra High” spin speed setting. I would recommend checking the washer’s balance on a spin cycle before letting the delivery crew leave.
The doors on front load washers are designed to have a watertight seal when closed, of course. If you leave the door closed between washes the washer tub will stay damp, mildew, and eventually have an odor. We always leave the door open after a wash and have had NO problems with odor. We have not had to run the “Tub Clean” cycle or use one of those washer cleaning products yet. One potential source for film buildup and odor is excess detergent. We found some posts on another website that recommended using only 1 tablespoon of HE washer detergent with a normal size load. We’ve been using the 1 tbsp. of detergent and our clothes are getting perfectly clean. We found that when we use liquid bleach the clothes were sometimes left with a bleach smell unless we set the washer for a “Heavy” soil level. That fixed that minor problem.
This front load washer does take longer to wash a load than most top loaders, but it spins the water out so well at the end of the cycle we can make up part of the time with shorter dryer cycles.
The drain pump filter at the bottom of the washer does need to be cleaned periodically. Page 17 of the Owner’s Manual describes how to drain the little bit of residual water into a bowl before cleaning the filter. If you follow the directions, there is no significant spillage of water or other mess. We clean the filter about every-other month, and it’s not near clogged when we clean it.
I recommend the LG WM2016CW front load washer. It's the best washer we've ever had.

What's great about it: does a good job of cleaning clothes easy to set up and a lot less water usage
What's not so great: The pump or lint filter
I can only agree with the positives of the other reviewers, Easy to set up excellent at cleaning and less water usage. This review is to let you know of what I think is a design flaw in this unit. The pump filter or lint filter when opening it to clean it about 4 ozs of water comes pouring out. At first LG told me that this was a defect and they would be getting in touch with me. When they did not get in touch with me I called and was then transferred to a technician who told me that the original answer was wrong and that 4 ozs of water coming out of the filter was normal. The problem is that because of where the filter is located it's almost impossible to get anything under it. And yes I do drain the the water before I open the pump-lint filter. When I complained that this was not what I was expecting the technician suggested I only clean the filter once a month. Well there you have it. I think people should be aware of this problem or quirk if I am being kind

It doesn't come with some new fancy function like steam washer; however, it is good enough to clean your clothes. I bought this along with DLE2516W few weeks ago, and they both work well for me so far. No issues with them so far. The dryer I think is really quiet, and the washer is ok but not noisy. It is easy to use. Front load. Nice price. It is a good choice for you to think about.

What's great about it: The water savings!
What's not so great: Small capactiy
What a great washing machine! I love the way this machine saves water. It only uses as much water as it needs. Requires high-efficiency soap, but you can get away with the regular stuff...just don't use as much as you would in your top loader. Tip: if you notice your pipes rattle or hammer after install when they never did before...two words...hammer arrestors. You can buy them at your local hardware store for about $10 each. Easy to install and they work! Such a relief to not hear the pipes hammering any longer. Another note: the installers were AWESOME!!!

What's great about it: Gets the job done. Quiet. Energy and water wise!
What's not so great: Longer wash times, and a very quiet end of cycle alarm.
We've had this washer for about a month, got a great deal on it at the store, later found it on sale so we did a price match. Best Buy was great about the entire process.
After we got the washer home we put it in place made sure it was level. It doesn't vibrate more than the dryer does we can hardly tell it is on. I hate to admit it but I find myself and the kids watching the clothes wash sometimes for the entire wash cycle.
After doing a ton of research and comparisons, we found that the common problem with most front loaders are operator error or a bad installation. The extra long wash times are if you do things like an extra rinse, say that the clothes are extra dirty or even add extra water these all add time. A typical wash setting seems (at least for us with 3 kids) works just fine. Towels and Jeans used to take FOREVER to dry it now take no longer than a typical load. As for the installation make sure the washer is level and all 4 legs are securely on the ground if even 1 foot is not touching it will vibrate.
I think LG is a great brand and Best Buy stands by its products and support them well.

I got this for a cheaper price because I waited for an amazing deal, but I'd say this washer is worth a ton! It holds a lot in it and it hasn't raised our bills at all! It's nice not to worry about my clothes getting ripped up or coming out with holes. It does take longer than an upright model, but I consider it worth it for the gentle way my clothes are washed and the stains are always gone!

What's great about it: superior job at a good price
What's not so great: maintenance rutine required
I have had this LG front loader for only about 6 weeks. However, I have read many reviews so I think I know what the maintenance issues are and have started taking steps to avoid any problems.
First, I find the wash comes out very clean and much dryer than my old top loader. Even towels take a short time in the electric dryer. I like the many combinations of setting to address different types of loads. This means I can walk away and not come back to do extra rinses or add softener. I now only use softener for those loads that may have static electricity problems. I think it is wise to use the higher water level. It can do very gentle loads or the toughest rugs or jeans. Some of the cycles are very long, about 1-½ hours, such as when you add the pre-wash. For this reason, I set the delay the night before so the washer goes off in the early morning and is done by the time I get up. For me, the water and sewer charge saving is about $10 a month.
I have read a lot about the mildew problem inherent with front loaders. I am careful to dry out the gasket, drain the little drain hose at the bottom of the machine (which is about a half cup. Use a plastic pop bottle.), and I take out the detergent dispenser, dump out the remaining water and let it air dry. It is a little tricky getting that drawer out.
I have used the chlorine bleach tub cleaner cycle but I don’t think it is necessary every month. I will use about twice a year the Tide Washing Machine cleaner or more often if necessary. I have read that many persons swear by this product. We have no vibration problems, but we have a concrete floor. Best Buy delivered the machine, installed it, and took away the old machine. All in all, I am very happy and it makes washday easy. I try to do all my wash in one day. If you do the wash often, the draining might not be necessary. The point is, you do not want water sitting in the machine and percolating for long. Some say they let the last wash of the day to be a wash with chlorine bleach. It seems that some of the substances in the soap products contribute to the mildew problem. Always dry out the gasket though. I have read that it takes a long time for the mildew problem to show up. That would be the time to use the Tide product.

What's great about it: Great Price, Ease of use,
What's not so great: Long cycle time
I've had this washer for approx. 4 months and am very happy with it. Most of the negative comments (long cycle time, having to leave the door open, etc) I knew prior to buying, so none were a surprise or a big problem.
As far as vibration, I've seen none. My machine hasn't moved an iota since being insatlled.
As far as odor or mildew, I've had none, again leaving the door open after use to air-dry.
My drying cycle times are definitely reduced and the water useage per cycle is down, though not enough to effect my electric or water bill. (wonder who's reading my meters?)
I did not purchase the additional storage unit/stand (for ~$200) and have no regrets for not doing so. I have sufficient cabinet space to accomodate and the extra expense, in my view is unwarrented.
I bought a front loader against the advice of all of my friends and family, and I can honestly say that with this machine, I can tell them all that they were wrong with their advice.
I would, and have, recommended this machine to all have asked for my assessment.
I would recommend this to a friend!
