What's great about it: Less water, less energy, more laundry!

"Ease of use...the fact that you are able to do more laundry at one time using less water and energy!! So many wash options, quiet operation. This is my first fontload that is replacing a 10 yr old topload. Wash time is longer but worth the wait, clothes come out very clean!"

What's great about it: Ease of use, energy and water saving.
What's not so great: Nothing so far...

"My wife and I bought this washer almost a month ago and I have to say after reading all the reviews I was a bit worried and I am sure others may have the same concerns prior to purchase. I will help you understand why others have had problems. Before I get to that. This washer is nice, its quiet, it spins cloths to a damp state, it uses lots less water than my top load, it can handle large loads with ease and it is easy to use.
Problems and complaints I have found regarding this model and other front loaders include:
Moldy smell, musty smell.
Bad vibration, noisy.
Water hammer, makes pipes bang.
Washer "thinks" too much, loads take long time.
Gasket leaks.
Overcoming the above problems:
You will not have a mold or musty smell in your washer IF you dry the gasket well when you are finished using the machine for the day, IF you use the "tub clean" feature with bleach, IF you leave the door open over night sometimes to let it air out. Front loaders are sealed when shut unlike a top loader and that just asks for mold in a moist environment.
Vibration will not be a problem IF it is leveled properly on a good solid structure, IF you properly load the washer IE jeans with jeans, towels with towels and so on keeps the load balanced.
Water hammer pipes banging, in older homes newer technology is hard on older pipes, a quick fix for this is a 15 dollar part called a water hammer absorber, it hooks up inline with the washer hoses.
Washer thinks too much.....Well, yes it does, a normal load can take up to an hour, however uses 1/8 the water your old washer did, and will take half the time to dry since it spins out water so well. For lightly soiled clothing use the quick wash feature, half the time, still gets cloths cleaner than your old one did...
Gasket leaks, sometimes there is a defect, sometimes like in my case cat hair can build up on the lower part of the door where the seal touches, this build up pushes the gasket in causing a space for water to get out. Just wipe any build up off when you dry the seal and you wont have the problem.
Well, thats it, great washer, little more maintenance, lot less energy and it has a hand wash feature my wife loves for her bras:)"

What's great about it: So easy to use and maintain
What's not so great: Wish the power button was out of childrens reach

"I went from a top loading washer to this one and I can't believe how much cleaner my clothes came out. The operation is so easy that my husband who never did laundry before now does laundry. I love that it has a child lock but the kids can still hit the power button and reset it all. I wish the power button was located on the top or couldn't be activated if the child lock is on."

"I just bought this washer and the matching dryer a week ago, and I gotta say it is awesome! I caught up on all my laundry in one day. It leaves everything clean and fresh. I know people don't like that the cycles are longer than a top loader, and it is. On a heavy soil setting with a pre-wash it takes an hour and two minutes but I don't even notice the lenght of time so it doesn't bother me at all. The spin cycle leaves the clothes pretty dry so it takes less time when it's in the dryer."

What's great about it: Great to use, uses less water, good capacity
What's not so great: Not a big deal... wiping down gasket and leaving door open until dry, small hassle

"We have had this washer for several months and so far I love it. It's easy to use, gets everything clean, and looks great. Although this is the smaller capacity model, the capacity is more than our old extra large capacity top loader, so I didn't hesitate to get it. We did have to re-level the machine to stop vibration and re-adjust the position so that the hoses in back did not make clunking noises when filling. Once everything was settled, the machine ran quiet and so smooth. I'm now used to wiping the door and gasket dry when finished washing for the day and leaving the door open until completely dry, so no big deal there. I did notice that the Best Buy web site description notes a 20 minute steam/fluff cycle, which my machine (same model #) does not have (nor does the manual mention), so I don't know if that is different now."

"LG's are awesome.. The story goes like this. I bought a set of LGs for myself..the steam..my father used them and loved them so much that I gave them to him as a gift! and now he has my old set! He raved about them to my sister in Tennessee and now she has a set of her own..who raved about them to my aunt who now has her pearl gray set..and now i have this washer..I gave my father the other one! And I love it. I love the capacity and the jingle it plays when it gets done! And believe it or not my boyfriend's mom is in the market for a new washer and dryer..and guess what she's going to by..an LG! We have never once have had it serviced...I use the once a month tablets to clean it(when I remember). The machine is easy to use and I love the features. So what started out as 1 set of LG washer and dryers hjas turned into four..but a fifth set is in the works! We have just raved about our LG's and Im sure you will too! Definately worth the money!!!!"

"I am a sorority house director in a house with close to 40 girls living in it. We bought this washer this summer and I absolutely love it...we love it so much in fact that when our other 18 year old washing maching broke last week we bought another.

For most of the girls it is their first time doing laundry and they have no problem with using this. In fact they seem to find it much easier to understand than the top loaders. The different cycles are much easier to figure out compared to all of the numbers on the old maytags that we had.

We do countless loads a week and have no problems with smell or anything that I was worried about before buying it. I did months of research before buying the first washer and for the price and everything else I couldn't ask for anything more. The only thing I was suprised about was how long the washing cycle is compared to the top loading washer...but for the reduction of water and energy it is well worth the extra time. Our delivery guy just showed me a great new feature on these as well that there is a spin sensor that can help make sure the machine does not wobble on non-concrete surfaces. This washing machine is a must buy!"

"This replaced a 12 year old top loader. I never knew a washing machine could run so quietly! We have had this machine for about 8 months now, and it has done an excellent job. I have noticed the decrease on our water bill. Saves money on detergent and other products as well. Makes me feel like I am helping the environment in a small way.
Avoid the mistake of putting the bleach and fabric softener in opposite receptacles. Even though the spots are clearly labeled, I still managed to do this when I was operating on auto-pilot. I fortunately caught my mistake before I ran the machine. The other thing for me to get used to was spinning the barrel after pulling out the clean clothes to be sure that none of the smaller items are still stuck inside. With my top-loader, I just had to look down and see that everything was out."

"What a great purchase! With small kids in our home, we love the sanitary cycle. This washer is surprisingly quiet. It is also feature-rich, with the countdown timer, load sensor, and all those wash cycles. Our top loader lasted 8 year before the tub corroded through, I hope this washer lasts a longer time."

What's not so great: End of cycle bell is not loud enough

"When our 16-year old top loader bit the dust, we shopped around for a while and finally decided on this LG. I'm so glad we did! It is very, very quiet. Our washer and dryer are in a closet in the family room, and we can actually do laundry without raising our voices or turning the tv up. It's really surprising, but the most noise comes from the water coming through the hoses, not the washer itself. Sometimes we will hear the final spin cycle if it's on the highest setting. but it's nothing like the noise from our old top loader. It's amazing how the clothes get so clean with so little water. We pay through the nose for our water, and I'm really glad to see the water bill drop. The only drawback is that the end of cycle bell is really quiet. It's not a buzzer, but more of a gentle electronic chime. I can hear it if I'm in the same room, or the next room, but forget it if I'm farther away. In that respect, I do miss my old machine which had a buzzer that could wake the dead. All in all, I am thrilled with this machine."

Fantastic washer! 08/25/2008

What's great about it: Quiet, easy to use!

"The price on this machine is fantastic. We even got it on sale last week! It was delivered last weekend, and I washed all day Saturday. Delivery was fast and I was able to use once the test rinse cycle completed.
I love this machine, my clothes are extremely clean!
The machine is a little louder than I expected but that seems to be because my apartment is usually pretty quiet, but I just close the utility room door and you can't even hear them!
You do have to get used the wash cycle. It isn't like a traditional top loader or even the front loaders at the laundry mat. It spins and judges how much water to use, then stops, spins some more, and keeps repeating. The wash cycle is a tad long, but the drying cycle is very very short. It took about 90minutes to wash every load including towels, jeans and quilts!
I love love love this machine! So glad we bought it!! No more laundry mat trips for us!!"

What's great about it: Quiet, Uses little water or soap.
What's not so great: Should wipe down door and gasket after last load.

"My old top loader was leaving rust spots on some clothes as the porcelain by the bleach cup had actually worn away and the metal underneath was rusting. I saw this as a potential problem with all other top loaders so decided to spend the extra money on the LG front loader. I could not be happier!!! Its quiet, uses little water and has the separate pull out unit on top where you put your detergent, bleach and softener so nothing gets directly on the clothes.

Its just me so I don't have tons of stains or super large loads but it did handle my queen size comforter with no problem. I have learned that after the last load of the day (or night) to wipe the glass on the door and also dry the rubber gasket so that the washer stays fresh. For the price I don't think this unit can be beat."
