What's great about it: Stylish, Perfect picture quality, very light

"I bought this TV one week ago for my bedroom to replace the 27in Samsung I had and it was better than expected. I have a 52in Samsung in my living room for 2 years now and it is fine never had any problems with it, so after a lot of research came up with the 40in Samsung or the 42in LG they were both for around the same price. I decided to buy the Samsung even though the LG was showing better in the store because I have 2 Samsung TV's and they are perfect and the Samsung had PIP while the LG did not. I am happy I chose the Samsung, I dont know if it was the connection or the show in the store but mine was crystal clear with better color than any of the TV's in the store and this is with a HD Antenna. I also bought a Sony 1080p upconvert DVD Player and when I hooked it to the TV the picture was unbelievable. I dont believe a tv can show any better. If it is showing so good with an upconvert I can only imagine how it will show when I buy a HD DVD Player or get my HD cable box. It is also very light I hooked it to the wall mount by myself. Dont worry just buy this TV I know you wont regret it"

This is the LCD TV for sports 12/07/2007

What's great about it: Great picture, decent sound, lots of ways to tweak.
What's not so great: I can't take it everywhere I go.

"I was going to look for an LCD HDTV around about the time my CRT TV died so the timing was perfect. I have always bought Sharp and was thinking about the AQUOS.
I decided to look at the Samsung, the Sony Bravia and the Sharp in the $1500 price range. I wanted at least a 37 inch display. Well, I really looked hard at the 3 brands but the Sony was overpriced and the Aquos' picture was not as bright as the Samsung. Those of you who have read to buy a plasma TV for sports because of the response time, DON'T BELIEVE IT!. I bought this TV primarily to watch football in high-def and this TV more than fits the bill. It is awesome. If there's a picture that doesn't look good in HD it is because the camera they are shooting with is either lousy or the camera is not in focus. HINT: Set the TV to automatically smooth the edges ALL THE TIME - This setup will make your HD sports almost look like 3D! This picture is tight, great color and lots of ports to hook things up. I have a Verizon FIOS box w/DRV and an upconverting DVD player both connected w/HDMI which makes setup SIMPLE! and they both look great. Believe it or not, the most stunning picture I have gotten from it is the Letterman show in HD. Try it, you'll see what I mean. GET THIS TV! It Does it All! My next step is a HTPC to do HD Movies on this TV."

What's great about it: Is everything a good description?

"I've had it for a few months now. Mainly use is for PS3 and do get some HD channels. We don't have an HD package with the cable company but the tv picks up a few channels and comparing them to standard I can barely watch analog cable anymore. PS3 looks amazing and, with the optical out into surround, sounds great too. Sit a little under 10 feet away and I feel its a perfect distance for a tv this size. If you've got the cash for this one and are looking into getting an HDTV I definately suggest this one. Right out of the box impressive, a little tweaking here and there and you'll be very happy with your decision."

Best LCD on the market with an outstanding price. 11/08/2007

"I just picked this TV up last night after researching every TV I could find. I was torn between the Sony 40" XBR4 and a Samsung, I just was not entirely sure which Samsung.
Well I decided that yesterday was the day to buy and after reading hundreds of positive reviews about this model, and with the price being a steal, I could not resist it. I brought it home.
Set up was quick and painless. I had my Xbox 360 and Satellite connected in under 10 minutes. The first thing I tried was a DVD which I used the Xbox for through component. Stunning, not even true HD and it looked crisp and clear.
Then, I threw in a video game and was simply blown away. The color set was perfect straight out of the box. No lag that you hear so much about and no blurring effects. I actually queued up a game where my save is at a point where there is so much going on on the screen that it really put the TV to work. Flawless.
I have a Bose surround sound so I am not sure about the speakers and do not plan to ever use them.
The remote is sleak and comfortable with quite a few one button controls so there is not a ton of menu surfing, unless you are like me and just have to play with the menu no matter what.
All in all, this TV is the best on the market at such an affordable price. My brother has an XBR4 and when he came to my house he said "hey, your TV doesn't do that blur thing like mine". No, no it doesn't :). Yet he spent almost $1000 more on his set up. I guess that goes to show you that expensive doesn't always mean "the best."
As of right now, I have not played with every single setting nor experienced ever single feature this Tv has to offer. All I can tell you this price for the kind of quality the TV produces, how can you go wrong?"

"I just purchased the tv about a week ago and I have to say that I am nothing but satisfied with the tv. The picture looks great and I had no trouble getting all my systems plugged into the tv. My 360 looks so good with it hooked up to my tv. If you get anything out of this review its that the tv is great and for the price you can't beet it."

"The HD picture on this Samsung LCD is stunning. The picture is great w/o HD, but with it, it's unreal. Get it when it's on sale and save yourself a couple hundred dollars. I'd heard that Samsungs were great TV's, now I'm finding that out myself. You won't be sorry."

"I waited and looked around for about a month and compared brands and prices. I was comparing between Sony, Sharp and Samsung's. No doubt Sony produces quality products, but I wasn't going over my head and spend 500 or so more dollars. Sharp's prices are competive and was debating on purchasing their 37" 1080p model for the bedroom, but when I came across this product with the sale prices which was being offered at that time, I couldn't resist but purchase it. It was a steal for this great produt. Hats off to Samsung and Best Buy for this deal.
Quality on both the cosmetics and picture. I purchased "Dinosuars" on Blu-Ray for the kids and couldn't believe the out-put on the screen. I also upgraded my Comcast service to HD and was satisfied with the HD Channels, but thats totally another story. In short, the cable service doesn't do any justice on what this TV can do. Sound from the TV is very good, but recommend on purchasing or hooking up a surround sound system.
I'm not here to tell you to buy Samsung only or not to buy other products like Sony or Sharp or I'm just going to buy Samsung fron now on. I had to give kudo points for this particular product from Samsung and Best Buy for price matching another competor's price.
If your planning to purchase something for your bedroom or a small living room, this TV can give you your money's worth, better if you get it at a sale price like I did."

"All my TVs are now Samsung. I started with a 61 inch DLP for my family room. Was in the market for an LCD model to hang on the wall in my gameroom. After seeing this one in the store (and doing my research), I purchased this model. Hands down, I made the right choice. The pciture size is excellent, crisp and clear. The inputs are perfectly placed. Has two HDMI inputs which cover your satellite and DVD requirements. The component input on the side is excellent for quick hook-ups of kids gaming system. Overall, Samsung makes an excellent product. I recommend this TV to anyone in the market for a quality 1080p 40 inch television."

What's great about it: 1080p good screen size, inputs, picture tweaks
What's not so great: pillaring, uneven backlight, clouds, some games play wonky

"For a 1080p set at this size, the price is comparable. The inputs are plentiful for HD, has dual tuners for digital box and free HD over the air separate. Many tweaks for the picture, gamma, rgb ranges, white levels for each color, saturation per color. PIP

Don't get me wrong the picture is fantastic, not a huge red push that is normal on LCD's with at least 3 wavelenght backlighting, many options to enhance the picture and Power Saver modes to reduce the backlighting to save it's overall life.

I and many people on www.avsforum.com find anomolies with this curent generation panel. This is apparent with the 4061, 4065 and 4066 series of these sets. I went through 3 tv's before I gave up.

Each one had bad cloudy spots, 3 or more round or oblong, that showed up whitish during dark or gray scenes and/or flashlighting in the corners. When watching letterboxed or dark scenes, these bright clouds caught your eye and took away from the picture. Also, the brightness would increase unevenly, pillaring, making the sides 4-5 inches from the edge to the middle, brighter than the center of the panel. When watching football, you could see dark grass in the middle and washed out lime grass on the sides or during a sci-fi show, outer space was grey on the sides and jet black in the middle. You have to under calibrate the set to get to be subdued but that defeats the purpose.

PS3 looked terrific but looks and gameplay are different. The GameMode only helps to reduce 30% input lag from consoles by turning off the DNIe image processing internally. Some games, the acceleration in the movement and aiming made them hard to be quick and accurate especially online shooters. They were fine when REALLY slow and fast, but trying to tame the aiming was like trying to control a rope when you need to be fast and accurate. I personally don't like to have to move my body when I aim to make up for the difference the tv doesn't pick up when fine aiming is needed, and I needed to "flick" the controls at times to move it a few pixels, without it overshooting. When you play on a CRT tv, you can feel controls are not loose but tight. Agin games are highly playable, just some that require absolute perfection will annoy you.

Overall some people do not notice these things and are happy, but a discerning person spending $1700 deserves to have a screen that is free from defects."

"I bought this TV on sale! Best buy is the best, I first bought an phillips 37 768 LCD TV, but I realized after I bought it that is was a little small. So I returned the TV and exchanged it for a Westinghouse 1080 42" TV (Dont do it!!!!, the SD channels are really bad on this TV). So I took it back and got this tv, and never looked back. THe TV gives a fantastic picture in both SD and HDTV channels, This TV is totally worth the money!!!!"

"This unit gives you everything you need for the new millenium. 1080p with 3 HDMI inputs puts you in the drivers seat for all the newest gadgets coming online, including the PS3 or a Blu-ray player.
You can use the HMDI input for your premium sound system as well for the best sound and picture available. I would recommend not waiting for digital cable, as you will be amazed at the difference between an analog signal and HD broadcast.
Anyone know what will happend to the Cable signals when the standard of HD will be mandatory in 2009? Will they will still charge you a premium to get what they are required to broadcast anyway?"

What's great about it: Excellent Picture,Numerous connections, and beautiful design.

"Before buying this television I spent three weeks researching online for the latest LCD 1080p models around. I was looking for a balanced blend of technology, useability, and design for what my dallor could afford. In addition, I have spent over ten hours between competing brands of TVs comparing contrast ratio whites to blacks, etc., size, color, and picture clarity. After long hours of comparison I made the choice to go with this Samsung model. In short, I this television has met and exceeded my every expectation. I am a gamer and movie watcher and have used this television with my PS3 for blueray disc and let me tell you...the picture was excellent for movies and gaming. Even though some may complain about the speakers not being up to standards I had no complaints. They sound great. My only complaint is the gamemode. I was unable to see any real improvement between gamemode and default other than the gamemode was alot brighter. In Short:For the price you will feel like you have spent hundreds more."
