What's great about it: Great color, and features
What's not so great: sound isnt great
I compared a lot of different tvs and this is without a doubt the best unit for the price! the picture is great, the colors are amazing! The sound is ok for watching the news or talk shows, but even with audio adjustments it's pretty thin. I have it hooked up to a surround system, so it's not really an issue. Even when turned off, this is the best looking set on the market. The gloss black finish and "invisible" speaker grille make other tvs look outdated. Dont waste your time and money on any "off" brands that may cost a couple dollars less! This Toshiba gives the most "bang for your buck" that you will find!

What's great about it: COLOR, design, price, TOSHIBA brand

I just bought a 32" Toshiba REGZA in December. I knew I should have waited for the 42", but the price was right. Now February, I see the 42" on sale at Best Buy for $1299 from $1699. WOW!!! Didn't have to think twice on that one....Moved the 32" in my bedroom to another room, and now I can't sleep at night because I LOVE this TV and the clarity is soo awesome! Samsung does not compare, trust me. I have had Toshiba TV's all my life and for the money, they are the best-bar none. I love the sleek design of the cabinet as well. The sound is much better on the 42" than the 32", not sure why. Another BIG point to buy this TV is the fact that it has 3 HDMI connections, so you can connect a home theater system, a DVD player (Blu-Ray now), and your DISH ro direct TV Box. Once you have 1080P resolution, you can watch no other way. A Blu-Ray movie on this TV is soo cool. I bought the Planet Earth series just to see if I was crazy and this was all hype about 1080P. Trust me, it really is true!!!
If you are in the market for a new TV, go straight to the Toshiba's, you will NOT be disappointed.

We first purchased a LG 42" LCD 720 and was not happy with it because of the lip sync problems we had. Took it back to Best Buy and bought the Toshiba 42" LCD 1080p and LOVE IT....LOVE IT. Best Buy was great, no hassle and wanted to work out the problems with us. I totally recommend this TV, especially once we got the HD hooked up with our satellite provider and using the HDMI cable.
Also the price is very reasonable for this TV quality.

What's great about it: Beautiful picture, ease of use, many inputs
What's not so great: Somewhat difficult to change settings for SDTV watching
My wife and I decided to upgrade to an HDTV when my folks gave us some money for Christmas. We knew we wanted about a 40" display, either plasma or LCD HD, and weren't sold on either 1080 or 720p. The TV departement supervisor at the local Best Buy store was very helpful, answered all of our questions, and made some suggestions. For the price range we were considering, this was by far the best fit and has been a fantastic upgrade from our 7-year-old 27" Sony flat screen TV.
This Toshiba is easy to set up and use, has tons of connections for just about every cable, and works great. The LCD gives very little glare from ambient light, produces a phenomenal picture, and doesn't get too hot. The TV is attractive to look at even when off, and it's truly the centerpiece of our home theater.
The only real drawbacks are that it is somewhat "clunky" when working with an analog or SDTV signal, such that you almost cringe and want an HD signal. Probably a problem with most large screen HDTV, but something to expect. Also, no wi-fi or easy computer connectivity like some of the new HP TVs, but we weren't planning to use it as a monitor anyway.
Overall, a great purchase. We paired it with a Toshiba HD-DVD player (gambled and lost now that Blu-Ray is taking over...), and the picture is amazing. I recommend the BBC set Planet Earth on HD- truly a spectacle, in your own home no less.

What's great about it: 42 inch screen, 1080p, price, awesome sound, clear picture
What's not so great: Contrast ratio?, the black on T.V. are not that black, view angle
First of all, for the price this is the best purchase I have ever made for a new technology. This is a great LCD set. The picture is great, sound is spectacular, and the overall appearance of the set is attractive. I bought a PS3 and the picture quality this set puts out is outstanding.
Only a couple of drawbacks: First, the viewing angle on this set isn't that great. I had a 720p LG very similar with a great viewing angle but that set lacked the picture quality the Toshiba Regza has. The blacks on the screen never gets that dark (like Samsung sets 81 series or 71 series but expect to pay $500-$1000 more), making the contrast not pop as much as other sets. Toshiba never really gives a contrast ratio on the set, so that was questionable for me.
That being said. If you want a big LCD (around 42") with a great picture, superb sound, and an unbeatable price get this set. I also recommend a Blu-ray player or a PS3.

I have had this tv for over a month now. It is purely amazing. The best I have seen in a while. Really shows its colors when you hook it up to HD. My XBOX 360 looks great and it actually helps get me more into the game. I think this TV is perfect for anyone that is looking to upgrade for the future. 1080P is the way to go! Don't spend 800-1000 dollars on a 720p Vizio from Wal-Mart. You will regret it and the blacks and whites aren't very vibrant on those other junk LCD's. Rock on Toshiba!

We bought this TV Dec 30, 2007, and love it. Picture is great, and watching DVDs is incredible. Blacks are very black and colors are vibrant. It was also very easy to install.

WOW! I was going to wait to write a review about this TV for a week or so, but with the Super Bowl comming up, I figured I should tell about this TV! I went to Best Buy determined to walk out with a TV today and I had narrowed it down to a 1080p Samsung and a 1080p Sony Bravia. They were sold out of the Samsung and I saw this one instead. The price was better and now that I have it home, the TV is outstanding! The picture looks amazing! My XBOX 360 has never looked so good and I watched a basketball game in HD and you could see the players eye color. I cant say enough about this TV. The sound for not being hooked up to a surround sound is the best that I have heard on a LCD tv! Its not going to blow you away, but you dont feel like you are watching HD tv and listening to a radio! I had a Samsung 32" that I had to return and the sound on that TV was horrible! The 1080p is deffinately the way to go and if you go out comparing TV's, before you walk out with the one you researched online, make sure you give this one a look!

I just got this TV when best buy had it $1199 after a discount. I love it. I looks great. I also got a discount with the bose cinemate system. Which is great for a small living room. The service that I received from best buy was excellent as always. Thanks best buy.

What's great about it: Great picture great size
What's not so great: Channel change a little slow
The was my first hd tv buy i just love it. Playing ps3 on this tv is just amazing it like playing a totally new game. Size is great looked smaller among the bigger tv's but when you get it home its much larger. Has plenty of hook ops Hdmi is kind of hard to plug in but how care. The only problem is the channels change a little slow but i can deal with that.

I have had this TV for about a year now after watching only 1080i on my cable system, I just got a new PS3 with it's built in Blue Ray player and have a couple of 1080p games for it and watched the new Pirates of the Carib movie and I can't believe how this thing looks. My old tv's in the house are now garbage, as is the signal from my cable box. I will never be the same again and consider myself now ruined from watching/gaming on anything less than full 1080p. As for the tv in it's game mode, it is simply unbelievable. These graffics have come so far it's hard to tell what's real. Get yourself one of these and see for yourself. For this money (and I know there are some cheaper models out there) but for quality, durablility, picture, features and price, you can't beat this Toshiba!

What's great about it: Great Picture---Good Sound---HD is AWESOME!!!
I just bought this TV last night, it was the best decision I have made in a long time. I own an Xbox 360 Elite and HD-DVD player. Once I got the picture fine tuned I was absolutely stunned on how clear and beautiful the picture was and how well it responded to gaming. I think for the money this is the best TV in its class hands down.

What's great about it: Great SD and HD picture and QAM tuner
We just bought this for our family room after having a 32" for the bedroom. We required any TV to have good a SD picture since we mostly just watch TV. This has it. The QAM tuner gets most of the channels for free that the HD box would get from Charter. It only needed minor adjustments to the picture. The sound is good, but I use a speaker system for better sound.

After researching many HD TVs, I purchased this Toshiba, which received excellent ratings from Consumer Reports, among others. It was easy to set up and the 3 HDMI inputs make it convenient to connect to multiple HD sources. I am currently pairing this TV with a Toshiba HD DVD player and an HD cable box. The HD picture quality is beautiful. Some standard DVDs look better than others, and I can say the same for the standard cable channels. Since this TV is High Definition, it is truly meant to process HD signals, not standard ones. I am completely satisfied with this purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the world of high definition.

SUMMARY: Very good TV for the price.
My TV stopped working and gave me the perfect excuse to upgrade to a HD TV. This TV had a HD DVD player connected and was playing. The picture BLEW me away and I immediately wanted this TV. The price was good and had 3 HDMI inputs which is sufficient for me. I will have a HD DVD player, video game system, a HD cable box connected to the TV so I am good with the number of HDMI inputs. If you do not want to go the HDMI input option, there are sufficient numbers of other inputs included. The more I watch shows in HD, the more amaze I am with this TV.

Great TV, fair price. HD is awesome even over the air if available in your area, Football looks amazing. Would have liked a second Standard Video input in the back (has two, one on the side) for a cleaner look rather than cables hanging over the edge of the TV. Not a major gripe since there is Plenty of upgrade space for HDMI input, so next Gen DVD and gaming is covered. Our first HDTV, no turning back now, had it over a month, no complaints

Television looks amazing, especially with the Discovery HD Theater in 1080i. The only issue that I found out after I bought this TV was that it will only accept 1080p through the HDMI input and not through the component input. That is frustrating with an original XBOX 360 that doesn't have HDMI. Otherwise an amazing TV worth every penny.
