What's great about it: Plenty of hoo-ups/HD picture
What's not so great: colors settings
"My wife bought this TV for me for Christmas as a second football TV in the bar. We looked together several time to find a good inexpensive 26'' TV. For the price ($400) this was by far the best. I didnt read any of the reviews, which maybe I should have. But then again I don't think I would have bought it. I have had this TV for about two weeks now and must say I am very happy so far. The HD picture is outstanding, and I have had absolutly no problem with sound. However the color setting are very difficult to set with not all channels being in HD yet. It is a pain to have to adjust the setting when switching back and forth.
As for the sound, I have my HD receiver hookedup with the HDMI cable so that may make a diffence. Because there is no hum or mismatch with the sound. I will be looking for the issues I've read about in past reviews though but so far so good."

"Reading some of the previous reviews had me concerned, but I have had this set for about a week and love it. I use it in a basement exercise room and have not had any of the problems mentioned. I watched a DVD for over an hour yesterday and never encountered the sync problem. I got the set on sale for $424 and for the price I think its great. Some of the buttons on the remote are not offered on the set, but I think the remotes are for a range of TV's not just this particular model. I would recommend the set as a 2nd TV for bedrooms or basements."

Almost a great purchase

What's great about it: Picture, features, ease of use
What's not so great: Sound out of sync
"I hooked this up to an HDTV signal and was amazed at the quality of the display. I thought this was a great deal at $549.00, however on the HD channels the sound was out of sync with the picture.
I browsed several review sites and found out that this is a common problem with Westinghouse. I returned it immediately."

What's great about it: Lots of inputs. Picture
What's not so great: Backlight hum
"I purchased this TV for my bedroom. At first I was happy with the purchase. The picture and sound were OK for a set at this price range. The set is too bright with the backlight turned up all the way so I adjusted it down, but after I adjusted the backlight level a steady hum could be heard through the speakers. It is so loud that the volume must be turned up to a louder volume to hear the TV. I thought I had a bad unit so I exchanged it for another and it does the exact same thing. After reading other reviews on this set it is clear that many or all have same problem and taking into consideration the audio sync problem that others are having (I haven’t hooked up any other equipment to see if mine has audio sync problems.) it just isn’t worth keeping this set. I will take it back and get something else. This could have been a good TV at a good price but it really is a disappointment considering its flaws."

What's great about it: Cheap, Lots of Connections
What's not so great: Blurry, Video Sync, Hum until Backlight is UP
"Should have passed on this, but my old tube died and I could not afford what I wanted. Have the same issues that others have: blurry picture at times, loses the channel it previously found, video freeze, out of sync audio when connected to dvd and a hum unless the backlight is turned all the way up. The limited view modes (standard, full, overscan) are not enough. I'd return it today, but its Jan 1. I'll wait for the weekend and get something better for more money. Leaning towards Panasonic or Toshiba."

"Bought this set yesterday after seeing it in best buy.The picture looked great.Was looking for a bedroom tv and this one seemed right.I only have basic cable in the bedroom but when I did the channel scan it also picked up the digital channels that you can get on our local stations.Watched the football game and loved it.Then I tried to lower the back light and heard a loud humming anytime I used that feature.Not knowing that this happens to everyone I exchanged it this morning hoping for a good one.Wasn't going to happen!This one cannot pick up any of the hd stations that the other one did plus it still hums.Its a P.O.S.Glad I didn't get rid of my old set yet.But the sound during the game was fantastic."

What's great about it: Great bargain for the price I paid for it
What's not so great: Cannot lower brightness due to buzzing noise
"I had the same buzzing noise problem as one of the other reviewers below. I found with some research that when the backlight is not set to maximum, the set emits a loud buzzing noise that overpowers the TV audio at normal listening volumes.
Other than not being able to lower the backlight, we've had no other problems."

"This is the biggest hunk of junk I've ever purchased. I have went through 3 of these TV's and have had to take them all back due to issues with the Speakers. Every one has emitted a loud buzzing noise. DO NOT waste your money on this cheap product. Never again would I purchase anything from Westinghouse."

What's not so great: Audio gets out of sync consistently, tv does not adjust properly to different aspect ratios
"I'll agree that for $500 bucks,..not a bad tv,...picture is pretty good,....but I have the audio problem, and its somewhat comfoting to know that I'm not the only only with this problem,...but the audio gets out of sync pretty frequently,..its really annoying,...and also the tv doesnt adjust properly to the different aspect ratios when watching dvds,...it'll bring up the menu cropped off,..so I'l adjust it and put it on "DVD restoration" (which btw is a dumb name to call it) and then once the movie starts its playing it squeezed and even if I readjust it to "overscan" it's like its cropping it,..."

A Great HDTV For The Price

What's great about it: Great for Watching HDTV, DVD and VHS tapes
What's not so great: None
"I have replaced my Philips 27" TV with the Westinghouse HDTV and I was amazed at the picture quality. I did hook the DVD player using the component cables and the screen turned green, but when I used the composite cables it looked better. Easy hookup to your digital cable box and my Sharp VHS Hi-Fi VCR. Tapes played great and was upconverted to 480i. Highly recommended for the price and ease of use."

"We bought this TV for the bedroom. We just love it and couldn't be happier. We've had no trouble with the sound. The only issue I've seen is that if we put it on full screen anything written at the bottom of the screen is cut off a bit but I think that might happen to any of these types of TV's. The picture is wonderful and love watching movies on it."

"Picture is best in the size and price. Its QAM tuner can directly receive HDTV signal from cable. You don't need a set-top box.
There is a tiny sharp noise while switching from an analog channel to a digital channel. But don't worry, because you can setup to receive only digital channels. In the Time-Warner Cable, every analog channel has a correspond 480i digital channnel program."

"This review is formatted a little differently from my usaul ones. I decided to test this TV after hearing a complaint from a friend about various issues. Being a fan of Westinghouse LCD monitors, I decided to check this TV over for him. He was absolutely right. There is some fatal errors in the design of the TV.
---
1. Audio- IF you use anything other than HDMI for audio your sound will go out of sync. The audio/video samling rate for all other connections is incorrectly calobrated. This didn't show up in testing because the error is so minute,(something like .001 off) it only shows up after awhile. Rating: 0 stars.

2. Video-I would have to say this unit is below average for picture quality for a Westinghouse product. Their high end units and LCD monitors have great picture. They designed this product to be inexpencive but they took it down a little too much below par. Rating: 2 stars.

3. Hookups-This TV actualy has a decent selection of hookups. They took advantage of the waterfall style wireing which was a good idea. 2 HDMI hookups(no audio error) is enough for a low end model. Rating: 4 stars.

THE COMMENTS ABOUT SOUND/VIDEO NOT SYNCHING IS 100% ACCURATE AND 100% IRRITATING. IF YOU ENJOY THE OLD KUNG FOO MOVIES WHERE THE ACTORS LIPS DON'T MATCH THE AUDIO (WAY WAY OFF), THEN THIS IS THE TV FOR YOU!

"I guess I was just over excited when I saw the price it was so cheap. Well first off I got it home and saw that when I switched channels from HD to non HD channels I get a green flickering screen. It happens all the time. It got really ignoring. Also the contrast of the TV was way too dark. I always had to change the contrast back and forth. I hate adjusting the TV when I am watching it, stuff that mad me just mad. So I returned it back to

"I bought this set over a year ago. It had the best picture in the store and was the most inexpensive. I have not had any problems with it. I do not have HDTV but don't watch a lot of TV anyway. DVDs look great and I have never had a problem with the sound. I have an alarm clock so don't need to use the TV for something it was never intended. I also have a 17" Westinghouse for my PC, love it. I plan to purchase the 37 or 42 for my family room and maybe another 26 for my new PC. Love Westinghouse."
