What's great about it: smooth gameplay, easy to control
What's not so great: none
"The game is much better than madden 07 and puts you in more control. The gameplay is smoother. the new weapons features help you exploit mismatches instead of having to check every players ratings for speed, catching, carrying, etc. Its a great buy and I would highly recommend it."

"Finally EA sports gets Madden right. Not only do they keep the realism just like past games but with the new gaming engine they make the game fun and very responsive unlike Maddens of old.They took the time to make you enjoy playing this game over and over.In years past it seems like EA spent all their time creating life like players that weren't very life like and cramming all those player attributes that at times weren't very accurate that they forgot about the actual game play. I give Madden 08 5 stars. Finally a Madden with great graphics and animations and realism and most of all is very fun and great replayability(yeah I know I made up a new word)."

What's great about it: Incredibly smooth online gameplay and the hits are fantastic.
What's not so great: All star difficulty too difficult, pro too easy
"I absolutely loved Madden 04, and this year's reminds me much of it. The immaculous leaps they do to get the ball make the game worth buying alone. The hits in this game are unbelievable. The running game is a little tough in this game unless you are an experienced Madden player and can read defenses; but still amazingly fun. The few downfalls include the lack of touchdown celebrations and the fact that the pro difficulty is too easy but the all star difficulty is too touch for me. I either blow them out by 30 or get blown out, no close games. I'm enjoying playing this game everyday and am eagerly waiting to see a game that is better than this."

What's great about it: defensive play books, improved d-line play, gang tackling
What's not so great: can't throw over a zone and injuries happen to easily, online updates are weak
"this is the best madden to date. which doesn't say much madden is always good but this one is nice. the controls are better, the defense is more challanging, better graphics, better running, the game is just better over all. definate buy"

"Madden 08 is the best sports football game ever. EA keeps improving the game every year. The graphics are amazing and the game is so smooth. The superstar mode is great as well. The only bad part is that you fumble a lot, but this is a minor flaw. I would most definitely recommend this game."

"If you're buying Madden, you probably know what you're getting yourself into. Madden is fun, as advertised, and is the best (read: only) NFL game featuring current players on the market.
However, with every feature they add or improve on, with each year something seems to go horribly wrong.
This year, it's turnovers. It doesn't matter if you cover the ball up every play, you're going to fumble. It doesn't matter if you're a great quarterback, you're going to throw lots of interceptions. It doesn't matter if you try to throw the ball a second before the defender gets to the quarterback, he's going to pull the ball back in and take the sack.
Online play always lags, it's just a matter of how much. For some reason, invite games seem to lag the worst of all and disconnects are commonplace.
More than once at the end of a game when it should show the score and the gamerpoints earned for the game, it just sits there scrolling around the stadium. You aren't able to get out of that by hitting start or anything - you're forced to turn off the xbox or exit the game, losing any and all EA points you may have earned during your gaming session.
Basically, it's a fun game, and I play it a lot, but I sometime wonder if the frustration it causes is worth it."

"This Madden is a slight step up from 07, but has great game play. In 07 I noticed once you broke off the line with a carry then you got past the last defender it was going to be a touchdown 99% of the time. In this one I see they fixed that. But I also had 6 interceptions in 2 game all which were ran back for TDs averaging 70-90 yards per. But all in all great job"
