I bought this washer in February 2009 since then it has been broke twice for the same reason. The washer makes a metal grinding / banging noise while it washes. GE is dragging their feet to fix this problem. I am not the only one with this problem according to the tech who came out the first time. According to the customer service rep the try to fix the problem the cheapest way they can!!!So in other words they will put a band aid on it and hope you go away. Watch the video I have attached and think twice about buying GE!!!
What's great about it: Still going to the laundrymat because the washer is broken
What's not so great: GE customer Service

I just bought this machine Jan. 21, 2009, have done 5 loads of laundry and it is going back tomorrow!!! This machine is VERY NOISY!!! It sounds as if it is going spit pieces everywhere. I read somewhere there is a rod that needs to be removed and this is what causes all of the noise. Well, it was removed as noted in the directions and it is awful. As for cleaning, I am not impressed. For light soils, it gets them out. For heavy soils, they are still there. My last machine was a 4. something CU Feet, so this machine is much smaller. One reason I bought this machine is the simple knobs. My last machine was fully electronic and I always had problems getting it turned on.
What's great about it: does not have electronic control panel
What's not so great: noise
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

WE LOVE THIS MACHINE! The 'hydrowash' action cleans our clothes really well without giving them the "I've been washed 20 times look!". The soak cycles are deceivingly great. Instead of just a standing soak the machine actually just barely moves to very very gently circulate the clothes as if by hand to loosen dirt and distribute detergent. Our clothes, even our knits, come out clean and in their original shape with no stretching or pilling. Also, I love the hugh stainless steel tub. The capacity is amazing. On top of all this, it is a workhorse. I decided to be brave and try washing a heavy, very large, much used, old and delicate handmade quilt from my grandmother. It came out simply beautiful! I would not have bought this machine without the help of your great staff. Thanks!
What's great about it: Quiet, Does not "wear" clothes out, Hugh Capacity,
What's not so great: Haven't found any.

This washer has to be the worst ever made. It makes the most annoying noises during the wash cycle. I had the washer in the laundry room downstairs with the door closed and while sitting upstairs, it drove my family crazy. Quite frankly it is a piece of junk. We had to dump it on Craigslist and buy another brand.
I only write this review to help others that think they are getting a good deal from GE. NEVER EVER will I buy GE again.

It runs very quietly which is nice. It does a fine job on normal, lightly soiled laundry. On tough dirt (e.g., sports uniforms, heavily soiled items) it does not do that great of a job. Most items need to be washed twice. I think it's due to the small amount of agitation. My old washer used to get them clean the first time around. I would recommend this product to people who don't do alot of outside, really dirty activities.
I would recommend this to a friend!
