Pros:
-Great sound quality
Cons:
-Not worth the expensive price
-Very uncomfortable for extended gaming. The sides of my head hurts because you can't adjust the pressure on your ears.
-I had mine for only a few months, and the headset broke in half when I pulled it over my head! I mean for the amount I paid it should be way more durable...
-I don't recommended any of "Razor" brand products because I have the whole package (keyboard/mouse/headset) And they all have small issues!!! They are way overpriced to be the "gamers" brand, but they don't perform.
What's great about it: The sound quality
What's not so great: Uncomfortable, Not worth the price, Breaks easily!!!

Right out of the box, the headset didn't work. Being pretty knowledgable about computers, I tried everything I could think of but it didn't work. I called technical support and they were completely useless. The suggestion that they gave me was to try it on another computer! That's it! Please don't make the mistake I did by wasting your time and money on this piece of junk. The only positive thing that I can say is that it's very comfortable, but that's it.

This is most likely the worst put togther set I've ever seen. Conrtol box has broken in all four I've owned . Two were sent back to cali for repairs. Parts always falling off and windows has a veery had time dealing with these.
All on different machines. Don't waste your time keep looking.
What's great about it: the sound for the short time it works if it works
What's not so great: Had four of these. All are broken.

I bought these hoping to get a great sounding pair of cans for gaming for the price but I was very disappointed. The headphones have a decent build quality to them and are high on the coolness factor, but once I plugged these in and heard them perform I knew I was going to be taking them back. I read multiple reviews on the internet about these (after purchasing) and found that most people thought the same thing. The bass response just wasn't there. I tweaked my audio settings in Vista, I tweaked the audio settings for my SB Xtreme Gamer card and I could not get these to put out any low end. I exchanged these for a pair of BB cheap rocketfish usb headset and the sound was way better. Save your money, the Barracude is not worth it.
What's great about it: Sturdy build, comfortable for long use
What's not so great: Bass response is horrible

Out of the box they worked great, with no issue. Tried to get into teamspeak or Ventrilo and be heard is another issue. The mic is only 3 inches long and comes just to the side of my cheek. Needs to be at least in front of your mouth. I think Razer figured this out, as they are discontinuing this one and bringing out the Megalodon next month. Mic on that one is flexible and much longer. Returned these and will wait for the next model.
What's great about it: Awesome surrond sound, crystal clear, cool design, nice graphics.
What's not so great: Microphone is stiff and half the lengh it should be.

Folks, these headphones HAVE TONS OF BASS when properly configured, and you don't need the Razer Barracuda AC-1 sound card to get it. In your sound driver settings, you need to set the crossover to the highest frequency possible, and if you have a low frequency db boost, enable that as well. From there, on the headphone controls set the audio output for the FL, C, FR, RR, RL to maybe half-way, and the bass output to maximum (you may have to play with the output a bit to get it right, and maybe even similarly tweak the driver audio output). I have my SB X-Fi set to 200Hz with a +12db bass boost, and the bass literally shakes my head. Remember, these are not THX certified speakers with a 10" 200W subwoofer. They are headphone drivers. So don't use the 80Hz THX crossover spec and expect these headphones to make huge bass below 80Hz.
What's great about it: Bass response is huge once you have it properly tweaked
What's not so great: Requires additional setup not specified in the instructions

Well I bought 3 Different Pair of Head Phones To Compare as I could only guess which one would be better based on umptine different reviews....
1. Plantronics model 650 USB "Music/Gaming/Voice" $49.99 AWESOME - IF..... you are looking for a ALL AROUND HEADSET THIS IS IT. BLOWS AWAY the Barracuda HP-1 from Razer $129.99 - The Barracuda DEFIN. had better highs. BUT, Mids, the same and Bass was weak compared to the 650. I also purchased a pair of Skull Candy Hesh 50 mil Driver as a litmus, they are garbage. not worth the $49.99. -
I am simply amazed at the quality of this headset. I ran all 3 with a Sample of "Bass Testers" from my X-FI 5.1 Card to test Music- Wow the Bass on these 650's is Sick. and Hi's/Mid's are right there.
BEST $50 I ever spent. The Razer's are EXCELLENT for Shooter type games where you need to hear every detail.. just not worth $129.99 - CRAZY.... It took me way to much to dial the sound in, of course I tried Every setting in my consile for my X-Fi Card, The Plantronic 650 where Plug and play... hope this helps - Thanks all to you who take the time to write a review -Good Luck.
What's great about it: Awesome 5.1 Shooter Game Type Headset, Music - HeII No!
What's not so great: Not good for Music - Poor Bass, Needs Major Sound Card Tweeking to Perfect, Not after $130.

I have bought several types of headphone/mic setups (mostly for gaming) but unfortunately this model was not worthy of the reviews it has recieved. The first headset was a Christmas gift, 3 weeks later under normal use, the mic gave out. Returned the product to get another and the same thing occured but after 3 months this time. Returned the product again but this time the right side headset did not work. I finally gave up and elected to get the money back and get another brand of headset/mic which works much better than these ever did.

Well, here it is folks !
The good. The sound on these is phenominal ! Excellent audio both in-game and music wise. Positional audio works very well. Somewhat audio card dependant but with most of the current sound cards supporting 5.1 or better this is not to much of a problem. These are comfortable and with extended use being the norm for me as I play online games quite a bit I wear them for several hours at a time.
The bad. you will find many reports of problems with these headsets breaking after a short time due to the screw that holds the ear-cup to the frame falling out and rattleing around inside the unit. This is true. Be aware ! You can tighten them on a regular basis to correct this issue.
The ugly. Customer support with this company is a joke. I was E-mailed a form......that was not set up to fill out.....and asked to print it....fill it out...and return it (via E-mail) with a scaned copy of my reciept. Well guys...er...what about your customers who don't have a scanner ? Also I found that their RMA process is VERY long.
Sorry to see that such a pricey headset with such great sound is built with an obvious flaw that this company should be very aware of by now. On a side note the problems reported with the mic are usually related to settings in windows or the sound card setup. If it is set as line in you must make sure that it is set to this in windows sound recorder as well.
What's great about it: Great sound and comfortable
What's not so great: Poorly made

Product is great, the headphones are comfortable and dont hurt a bit even when used in long time frames. The sound is great, sounds better than my stereo speakers for my computer. I would strongly reccomend getting the warranty. Im on my 4th pair. First time a screw came out and fell in the head phone and the other 2 pairs the mic/mic port went out.. only after maybe a month or 2 of use. If your patient and willing to return every few months these are great. But you might want to try another type. Im surprised after using Razer's Mice and Keyboards that this product would be such bad quality..
What's great about it: Sounds Great for Games and Movies
What's not so great: Mic Port Failure

The side screw fell out that holds it in place to move around. i opened it up to screw it back in place and the screw driver i needed is very small. the wires connected inside are extreamly fragile i mean i just placed it to the side and theres tape holding it place, next thing you know it a wire popped out of place. whatever you do dont rotate the sides too much, or you will end up like me having to buy a new one.
PS: GET THE WARRENTY ON THIS ITEM. it is a nessaary im one of those people that say o i dont need one cause i keep everything in good shape and it still broke. i keep everything in good condition. they do hurt your ears after 2 hours but then again all headphones do.
What's great about it: Great sound and mic
What's not so great: To heavy for material its made out of

I absolutely loved this headset for the first 2 months. Unlike others, i never had any complaints with the microphone volume and the sound was amazing. I also never really had any complaints with them hurting my ears unless I gamed for over 2 hours. However, I am guessing it's because of the weight of the headphones that they broke and now one of the earphones dangles. Needless to say, I can't use them anymore and didn't purchase the protection plan. :( I think that Razer needs to address the weight issue, or make them out of plastic. The metal is too thin to support the weight of the headphones. I would say buy them, just don't forget the warranty plan and have a back up set :)
What's great about it: Great sound quality
What's not so great: Breaks very easily

Ok dont get me wrong these are great sounding i only have issue with the brackets connecting headphones to head bracket(can break easy weak connections)
And as mentioned elsewhere the ear pads are just bad they tend to hurt your ears after awhile because your ear rests right into the speaker mesh and it rubs your ear kinda raw .I improvised and swapped a set of headphone pads from a older one i had laying around and its better but not perfect
Would i buy them again? YES problems and all they do rock!
I strongly suggest buying the replacement plan on these as its paid for itself many times over already
What's great about it: great sound
What's not so great: Speaker pads and craftmanship

Good Sounding Audio; Horrible Mic

I had gone through Plantronics, Logitech, Creative, you name it, I've used them. All of which have been pretty lackluster. So, I finally decided to shell out the cash and go for what is supposedly one of the best gaming headsets out there.
I was pretty impressed with the sound and how the headphones felt on my ears. They caused no discomfort over time whatsoever. However, the problems arose when I tried to use the mic.
First thing you notice is that the mic is all of three inches long. The thing barely came down to where my sideburns ended. You'd think with such a short mic, they'd amplify its sensitivity. Nope. I turned my mic boost all the way on my PC and in Ventrilo and I still had to literally yell into the mic for it to even register my voice.
I guess this wouldn't be so bad if the headset was a cheap one, but the thing is $130. For that price, I know I personally expected top quality in both the audio and mic output.
Also, the mic port on the headset actually broke and I now have to physically keep my hand on mic, pushing it into the port if I want it to stay plugged in. I contacted Razer about the issue and received no response whatsoever.
I really wouldn't recommend this product at all. Its overall quality is very mediocre. I am now using a cheap Dynex headset that works beautifully and gets the job done.
What's great about it: Headphones feel good on your head and sound pretty good.
What's not so great: The mic is way to short and breaks very easily.

First off, this is a great headset from Razer and the overall build quality is great. I used to use a Kinyo 5.1 headset that was about 4 years old which at the time was the only 5.1 with subwoofers for a reasonable price. The most convenient feature over my previous set is the fact that the amplifier is powered through USB and not a separate control unit that must be plugged into the wall.
I noticed a previous reviewer stated that creative cards should be set to 4/4.1 speaker setups, this was not the case with my X-Fi. In order to get the proper 5.1 it MUST be set in the 5.1 setting, and in order to get the subwoofers to actually vibrate, you need to go into the bass settings and enable bass redirection or the subwoofers in the headphones will NOT vibrate. Without them properly set up, the bass is very lacking and would actually bring someone to return the headset. Setting these up on a friend's computer who had an integrated SoundMax audio chip took a little more tweaking and I had to enable the "switch sub/center" setting for the outputs and that turned them on.
Onto the microphone... Being able to remove it is great for transporting them if you are worried about damage and also you don't always need it on there. The only downside is that you could possibly misplace it. When I first got my set they were also slightly defective where I had a ground loop hum whenever the microphone was connected. This went away oddly enough but I was not about to complain. Also the microphone is not very sensitive and you may find yourself boosting the level to get adequate output. This may vary depending on your sound card of course, so this may be an independent issue I encountered.
As for visual appearance, they will come across as a product with great build quality. The ear pads are removable and washable, as they are cloth and over time, I would expect them to get rather unpleasant if you have long long gaming sessions in the humid summer :). Each ear piece has a blue LED with the razer logo as well as the amplifier. There are 3 switch positions for the unit which are off, on with LED, and on without LED. That way you have the option to leave it dark if the lights become bothersome. As for the DVI-like connection on the cable, this is for the previously mentioned Razer sound card and bad things will happen if you connect this to your video card. It adds a slight extra bulk to the cable, but not enough to cause a fuss.
All in all this is a great product that met my expectations for a 5.1 headset with a built in microphone. The ability to adjust front / rear / center / sub levels on the in line amp/controller is also great for fine tuning if your card does not allow this and it sounds out of balance. If you have any issue setting this up, Razer's site is very helpful with the common issues with setup. They do recommend you get the specific sound card they make for this headset for trouble free setup and integration, but it is not necessary. They may take some time to get going, but well worth the effort. Highly recommended as a gamer and a music lover.
What's great about it: Comfortable, Subwoofers, Amplified through USB, Detatchable Microphone
What's not so great: Detatchable Microphone (Can be lost if you are the type to lose things), Needs setup, Low mic gain
I would recommend this to a friend!
