Good but unreliable

What's great about it: takes really clear pictures and videos
What's not so great: very fragile, flash broke, slow shutter speed
"I loved this camera until it started breaking- two weeks after i got it! When it works it takes great pictures, but I have had a lot of unexplained problems with it. I have dropped it a few times, but not enough to warrant the problems I've had. Definitely get the wrist strap!"

Battery life stinks!!

What's great about it: nice features
What's not so great: battery life and Canon's factory service center
"This camera like other Canon camera's I have had have poor battery life. They use up the battery just sitting there on the counter waiting to be used!! Even when I put in fresh batteries, the camera tells me the battery is low. I'm not sure why I bought this camera and frankly I would turn it in for another manufacturer if possible. I have owned this six months and am not happy - its a reliability thing. Go ahead and don't believe me but its a gamble if you buy this cause it might be in service more than you would like. And what happens after the 1 year warranty runs out? Good Luck cause it will cost more to repair than buy a new one. Canon won't tell you there is an issue, but read lots of reviews and you will see there is one."

What's great about it: amazing photos
What's not so great: none
"This camera is the champagne of cameras in its range; crisp, beautiful pics, and easy to handle. I love the variety of choices (night, sepia, b/w) and the stitching feature; the software was also user friendly. I bought a 2gb memory card for this, and no problem with battery usage. It is a great camera---"

My best digicam
02/22/2008

What's great about it: viewfinder, image stabilizer, manual mode
What's not so great: a bit bulky
"After using two rather slim pentax optio and a nikon coolpix before I was a bit hesitant about this chunky canon. But after using for about five months now, I have nothing but praises. The image stabilizer which my earlier cameras lacked has become indispensable to capture crisp images of my toddler. I also love the fact that there is a viewfinder which can be very handy in bright sunlight. MOreover, with the manual mode, I can even experiment with a much greater choice than just an automatic digicam. Overall, highly recommended for any keen amateur photographer."

Perfect all-round compact camera.

What's great about it: Great features, decent zoom, easy to use.
What's not so great: High flash recycle time.
"I bought this camera and the features are incredible for the price. I took some time to shop and compare, and after using the camera for a month, I am more than happy with my decision. This was an upgrade from a Nikon Coolpix 4100. All the features that it has are Pros.
* Just about the best image quality you can get from a compact camera * Full manual control over exposure, focus, white balance (usually only found on cameras costing hundreds more) * Optical lens-shift image stabilization * Pretty small * Uses convenient AA batteries * Great movie mode (640x480 at 30 FPS with IS until memory is full) * Big screen * Good battery life (with rechargeables) * Good performance (quick startup, focus, etc.) * Good optical viewfinder for a compact camera * Can even get lens converters (zoom, wide-angle, etc.)
You can't get this combination of features from any other camera or company unless you step up to Canon's own [much larger] S-series.
The only disadvantage of this camera is the flash recycle time, which is typically 4-5 seconds but up to 10 (!!) seconds in my experience. This is the price you pay for using only two AA batteries instead of four (or a custom high-voltage lithium ion battery like the kind that come with ultra-compacts)."

Amazing Pictures

What's great about it: Compact, uses AA batteries, stabilized shots
What's not so great: battery indicator
"This is a great camera for the price. The color looks good, the image is stabilized so those jittery shots look better without a tripod. My wife loves it and we've pretty much quit using a camcorder as this thing does a great job with video clips for what we want.
My only beef is that the battery indicator says my fully recharged rechargeables are nearly dead. After some digging, it appears to be a known issue and we just keep using the batteries as they seem to work just fine for quite some time after the camera thinks they should be replaced.
Get a 2 Gig SD-card for it and shoot until you can't stand it any more."

What's great about it: Solid, Reliable, Excellent Picture Quality, Decent motion shots for price, AA batteries are a plus for my use
What's not so great: slightly blurry in certain lighting situations
"I bought this camera on behalf of a non-profit company that I work for at school. Its great for us because so many different people use it and you never have to deal with recharging batteries or losing an expensive lithium ion battery. Memory cards are extremely cheap for this camera and its so easy to use. The only thing I would say is that in certain lighting situations it produces blurry images, but usually you can find a way to make sure that the lighting is clear. I would definitely reccommend this product to many people."

What's great about it: Outstanding Quality for the price
What's not so great: A little hassle to pull memory card out for downloading
"We bought two of these for Christmas. Best Buy matched the price that I found online so it was a real bargain. We kept one and gave the other as a gift for our daughter. The operation is simple for most users and excellant quality pictures."

What's great about it: LARGE LCD, great pictures, easy to use for everyone, even has some advance features...
What's not so great: slow on taking the pictures, blurr sometimes when you want to rush for the shot
"This camera is a great point & shoot! For the price you can't get anything better. Great shots great Image Stabilization, great quality! Now it does have some flaws, for example when you are taking the pictures it's slow, slow flash recharge & I think thats the biggest issue. When it comes to quality it varies but when the shot is good it's great. If not you'll get the little bit of blurr here & there. Has a mannual focus feature!! Thats great, unfortunetly the screen where it is, is too small to really see if it's focused or not. Great video, I've posted some online, while the video is recording it adjusts light, dim, focus etc... you could even zoom in & out while recording. . All in all it's a great camera a very big bang for the buck & you should ask all the question you have & take your time. Best Buy roCKs!!!"

"Easy to use for most functions. have not been able to take black and white pictures. Need to spend more time reading the instructions as they get more complicated on some functions."

What's great about it: Large viewing screen, ease of use, compact size
What's not so great: Had to buy a larger memory card
"I bought this camera to replace my older Canon Powershot. It's an awesome upgrade! It takes crystal clear pictures and is super easy to use!! I will only buy Canon cameras. Each one that I've owned has been great! I bought rechargeable batteries and a bigger memory card, which is all the camera needed! I am very, very satisfied with my purchase!!! A+!!!"

What's great about it: home and outdoor
"This Canon A570 is awesome. Before purchasing i read couple of reviews regarding it's battery backup, saying that i gives only 30-70 pics apporx. But whereas, after i made the purchase i have taken around 200 pics with a pair of sanyo alkaline batteries. it's picture quality is excellent. good to get this camera with affordable price"

What's great about it: This camera gives a large screen and quick picture to review capabilities for those kids who want to see their pictures!
What's not so great: Haven't found any.
"This camera is the best that I have owned. It is quick and easy to operate. I love the large LCD screen that makes it easy to see exactly what the picture will look like. It does great in capturing "in motion" objects.... even a flying frisbee. I highly recommend this camera. And it's a Canon.. Who could go wrong with that?"

What's great about it: takes regular batteries; long battery life; big screen; lots of features
What's not so great: no bluetooth
"This is is a great camera. There are lots of good features, such as an auto-selecting portrait vs. landscape, close-up, movie mode, and night mode. The screen is large, and the camera takes regular batteries, which is a plus when you're away from home. It works well with Windows, so uploading pictures is easy. I love these cameras."

What's great about it: Great for movies, easy to hold with one hand. pictures are terrific
What's not so great: None
"I received this camera for Christmas. It is a great step up from my previous 3.1 mg camera. Most of the pictures I take are of my grandsons and the special setting for taking pictures of kids and pets helps to capture the moment. I am very pleased with the movies it takes. The screen is a nice size. The camera is small and light and fits easily into my purse. The pictures have been great, even when the lighting is not."

What's great about it: Easy to use. Nice size and has a view finder. Takes great pictures.
What's not so great: None so far
"Haven't gotten to use the camera as much as needed to try all of the features yet. Photos taken using the Auto settings turned out great. Easy to use controls and options. Can't wait for better weather to start taking more pictures. Camera is small enough to fit in a small bag and yet is still a good size to hold onto. Still has a view finder and you don't have to use the LCD to shoot pictures, but you can if you want."
