I had this same dishwasher, but a 5 year old model. We recently remodeled our kitchen and purchased stainless steel appliances, so had to replace the dishwasher, too. I was completely happy with my old one, and am completely happy with my new one. I have used each of the options, and have found they all work very well. I don't prewash, and although I do scrape off the larger pieces of food, I have left some on just to see how well it cleans. Everything comes out sparkling. I'd highly recommend this model.

I've had this specific Maytag dishwasher for only 3 years and have had significant issues with it. One day, right before Thanksgiving, it just stopped washing. I would turn it on, an it would just sit there humming, doing nothing for the duration of the wash cycle, if I let it. I had to have a repairman come out. He replaced some parts, and got it working again. Then, this week the handle broke. Now I have to have the repairman out again, or just give up and find a new dishwasher. I have over 9 years experience with Maytag appliances (refridgerators, dishwashers), and they are next to worthless. Stay away, or be sure to include the service plan ;) Maytag repairmen may be bored, but they are very expensive.
What's great about it: Looks nice, cleans okay
What's not so great: Poorly constructed
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
