Fast and Easy

What's great about it: fast even heating
I bought this to replace a similar Panasonic microwave that finally gave out after ten years of faithful service. So far I have not been disappointed. The feature I like most is the even heating provided by the Inverter technology. The high power also works fast. As a single working person, I mostly use my microwave to heat up takeout, cook frozen entrees, and pop popcorn, and it does a superb job at these tasks.

What's great about it: Controls are easy to use
What's not so great: Poor quality control
Unit had problems right out of the box - door would not open properly. I made some adjustments to the mounting screws and saved a trip to return the purchase. That's poor quality control at the factory!
Now that the microwave is in service we are pleased with it. Its powerful and has easy to use controls.
Can't give it a high recommendation with the problem right out of the box...

No Interior Light when Door is open

What's great about it: Easy to set up, good price
What's not so great: No oven lamp when you need it the most.
Really a nice oven but not having a interior oven light when the door open is strange, How is one suppose to see the food being taken out to pervent spilling? The lamp Does come on when the door is closed and oven is on.
I took it back and purcahsed an LG model because the lamp did turn with the door open.

Panasonic makes a fantastic mircowave. The inverter technology is the bomb when trying to defrost anything!

What's great about it: Super powerfull
What's not so great: Cheap Chinese engineered door mechinism opener.
Just what the above says. It is very powerful but always had trouble opening the door. You have to push on the door very hard, which actually moves the entire microwave. Eventually that mechinism broke, shortly after the warranty period. For the price to fix it, could by a smaller less expensive one. THe new one will have a handle on the door though.

love the power of this microwave. my only con is that the light only goes on when the power is one, not when you open the door. other than that, i love it!

What's great about it: Size, features, look, no light when door is open
What's not so great: Noise when operating, push-button door opener
I have owned 2 Panasonic microwaves (earlier model of this one), which I would've rated 5 stars. This model is much louder than the previous version. I prefer to pull a handle (previous version) to open the door than push a button to (hopefully) pop the door open (I had to glue a strip of moulding on the countertop to keep the unit from sliding when I pushed the button). Although this oven and my previous one are both 1300 watts, the cooking times vary significantly. For example, the popcorn that took 1 minute 10 seconds in my old microwave takes 1 minute 50 seconds in the new one. Some items actually require less time to heat in the new version vs. the old. I bought this unit primarily because I liked my previous 2 microwaves (though disappointed that each lasted only about 5 years), I liked the look of the unit, it fit in the cubby that I already had, and it had the features that I wanted. Buyers note that the unit requires space around the sides and top for ventilation.

What's great about it: Most of it works well
What's not so great: Cheap build renders it useless
After about 2 years of use this microwave is now junk, not because the electronics failed, but because the mechanism for opening the door broke. I simply cannot open the door now (thank goodness food wasn't in it at the time). It seems it's a cheap piece of plastic that opens the door latch, and it slowly fails over time. Even if you have it repaired, which would cost half the price of the microwave, it's just going to break again, so what's the point?
Otherwise it seemed to work well other than the fact that the power was so much more than average that you always had to adjust any cooking instructions.

I like the features but it is sooo noisy when it is on. Also the door doesn't open easily...you have to find the right spot. I wouldn't purchase this model again. Therer are too many other models to choose from. I may return this as I only have it for 2 days.

What's great about it: Compact Size
What's not so great: Performance, Reliability
Defrost function never worked properly.
Just after 30 day period when store would have taken the product back for refund, the unit simply stopped working. An error message indicated that there was a major malfunction of the heating system. I had to exchange this product for another microwave, limited to what was available in the store. Needless to say, I did not buy another Panasonic.

What's great about it: Right size for my counter. It is a Panasonic. Plenty of power.
What's not so great: The base is light and when you push the button to open the door the microwave moves.
I have always found Panasonic products to be of high quality. Except for the problem mentioned in the Cons, I love my microwave

I know there are plenty of cheaper microwaves out there, but I've had bad luck with them all over the years. GE has been the worst brand for me, with the inside burning the paint off. I finally splurged and went back to Panasonic. I had this brand years ago and it held up for many years. It has a full 1yr warranty and 5yr on the tube (part only). You get what you pay for and believe me, it's well worth the extra money they charge for quality. The only thing I miss this doesn't have is the one touch cooking. On many units today you can touch 1 for one minute, 2, etc. This one you have to manually key in the full time, a minor oversight. It does have auto-defrost.
I would recommend this to a friend!
