What's great about it: large optical zoom, easy to use, long battery lifefairly compact for the features it offers, nice feel & look, auto lens
What's not so great: A little lag time when pressing the button to take a picture
"This camera is great for people with kids! It gets right up close for candid shots and poses; we've captured some adorable photos with it. It's pretty easy to use, too; just point and shoot, thought here are some customizable features to it. My only complaint is that there is more of a lag time than there should be between the time I press the button to take the pic and the the time the camera actually takes the photo. I've missed some adorable pics because of this. However, it wasn't like that when we first bought it, so it may be that I inadvertently changed one of the settings on the camera and need to set it back; I haven't looked closer at the problem. Overall, I would recommend this camera."

What's great about it: name it.. ease of use, many capabilities, outstanding pictures...
What's not so great: none so far (others seem to think this is a camcorder and not a camera.. silly them
"Had my camera for about a month; this is by far the best digital camera for the price that I've seen... the pictures are clear and vivid in color with no noticable distortion. It took me just 5 minutes of fumbling with my thumbs to get the hang of the entire operations menu. The display far trumps many other digicams in it's ability to provide bright clear views even in sunlight. If you like to take nighttime portraits this camera does them flawlessly using only ambient light (no flash) so if you want to shoot pictures of houses on a lake in the moonlight for instance, this will do it. Being a fan of 35mm as well, it took a little getting used to not having a viewfinder; I was a little put off at first; but like all things technological, you learn the ways of the new and adapt. I don't find it to be a hinderance anymore, so I will not list it as a con. All I can say to sum it all up is Kudos! to panasonic for having such a great product, and if you shop around a bit, you'll find a great deal on it too!"

What's great about it: 10x's zoom is amazing...the video is spectacular
What's not so great: the only con is i didn't find this camera sooner
"I have had a few other digital cameras, but this is far and away the finest i've ever purchased. It is so very easy to use and to download pics onto the internet. It can be a bit delicate, but each and ever feature is easy and simple to operate, and the video is absolutely stunning. The clarity and ease of operation was huge surprises to me. I purchased this from BestBuy (where else would one ever go?) just before the holidays and got it on sale, via BestBuy website. The lowest price available ($239) plus free shipping and free 2mb chip. I don't believe there is a better digital camera on the market for under $400 than this. The black color is rich looking and the photos are more than i ever expected."

What's great about it: 10x zoom, Optical Image Stabilizer, amazing picture quality, easy to use
What's not so great: It's a little big compared to some other cameras, but who cares!
"This is my third digital Camera I've ever bought. I studied and read reviews to make sure that I wouldn't have to be buying a 4th digital camera in the near future. By the end of it, I was going to either buy this one or a Canon. I made the right decision! No digital camera I saw can even touch the 10x OPTICAL ZOOM(40x with digital zoom)! And the Optical Stabilizer works perfect; unlike most other cameras that have the "digital stabilizer." The Zoom is amazing, but you have to be careful with the settings otherwise it will come out a little blurry. The lcd screen is very sharp and large, so you actually can tell what your picture will look like. For people that don't know how to use cameras, this one is perfert because it has a "simple mode" that works pretty well. Experienced people will also find great joy and options to customize/perfect their pictures. I believe it has less "special features" than a canon, but I didn't find any of those important in the slightest. For people worried that it's a little bigger than other cameras, stop worrying! It's not that much bigger (still fits in my pocket), and you get sooooo much more out of it! Get this Camera, you will not regret it!"

What's great about it: 10x time opitical,great OIS,outstanding color quality, small camera for such great zoom, excellent flash
What's not so great: macro mode can be better,slightly larger(not bad)
"The camera doesn't really have a lot of flaws considering what type of camera it is. I have to agree that it is not as small and even as light as some of the other camera, but you have to consider for what feature it has... 10x zoom w/ a 3" monitor, to be honest it actually is really small with these feature.
I have had bought this camera about a month ago...at first I had my doubt about the camera...with it size and weight...it was tough to make the decision...but after much research on camera, the zoom and and wide angle sold me the camera. after having it for two weeks I still was worried about the purchase. During that time I spent time playing with the camera and after playing with it...it is a FANTASTIC camera.
For example:
1.)clear reading of small wording when taking pictures with object with wording at distance zoom(some camera can't do this)
2.)excellent stabilizer even at 40x zoom
3.)flash works excellent even at complete darkness
4.)indoor with flash has great detail(can be bright) but what I found out is that if you don't like it, adjust the iso.(the picture will turn out great with good lighting) great indoor picture especially with flourescent lighting.
5.)night time outdoor picture, if you are taking distance picture at night where the flash won't reach, change the setting of the scene mode as long as the scenery has some sort of lighting the picture can be taken(I have seen other that can't do this)
6)can add audio to pic after pic has been taken
7.)video recording is clear and crisp(minus the flaw of it can't zoom and record, but hey this is a camera not a camcorder)
8.)uses HDSC card
9.)can rotate picture after taking picture
10.)easy to get use to setting and button
11.)can change iso and shutter speed
12.)monitor is large clear and colorful
So far, I found this camera to be an excellent camera,great price,great features, and very very satisfy considering in the past four years I have previously own a canon and sony camera. This camera does hold up to these brands."

"I was disapointed in this camera. It doesn't szoom while taking movie clips, nor does it have a light to fill in your movie clips.
It is VERY slow to focus and take the picture.
Not my best choice."

What's great about it: Compact for a 10x zoom camera, excellent picture quality, solid construction, lots of features, hugh LCD
What's not so great: Price, no zoom in movie mode
"This is an all round camera if you do not need the zooming ability in movie mode. Takes good pictures, compact design, a very solid feel, bright and large LCD. Has enough controls to adjust to various shooting conditions."

What's great about it: Image quality is terrific, has many options, light weight, 10x zoom is impressive
What's not so great: For some random reason it has malfunctioned on me twice.
"It is the ideal camera for anyone who likes having a digital camera to record your life and transfer it online. Can pretty much do anything you want to do with a digital camera and the pictures have the clarity you want from a camera. I would recommend a warranty though, seems susceptible to damage."

We went Brown County State Park last weekend and the camera worked out great.

"Surprised about the quality of this point-and-shoot camera. Bought it as replacement for a Pentax Optio especially because of the 10x optical zoom. The camera is heavier and a little bit bulkier than my old Pentax but still fits well into cargo pants pockets. Takes great pictures with the optical zoom even in low light and in concert events.
Pro is definitely the 10x optical zoom, enhanceable to 13.5x ez zoom or 40x digital zoom (digital zoom gets quite a bit of grain into the picture). As well the battery life is excellent.
Cons: not too many manual settings possible and battery has to be charged externally.
Would definitely recommend to buy."

"This camera has amazing lens sharpness all the way to 10x zoom. The Optical Image Stabilization works extremely well and is indispensable in a long-zoom camera. While I would prefer an optical viewfinder, the screen is very bright and clearly visible in daylight, unlike several other cameras. The camera build (made of all metal, unlike metal sheet-on-plastic construction of other cameras) is excellent - while not exactly pocketable, can be carried easily in a pouch or purse."

"This camera was purchased to replace a far more expensive and elaborate camera, which was only 3 years old. Since I was so unhappy with that unit, I had decided to "keep it simple" this time. Given the price of this camera, my expectations were not high, and I planned to look into the purchase of a more expensive replacement later, but the performance of this palmsized Panasonic proved me wrong. This camera is a definite winner. The pictures are amazing. with superb zoom and wide angle enough for near panoramic shots. I have taken many beautiful pictures using the macro lens setting without need of a tripod. For the most part I have used the "easier" point and shoot settings, but this camera is capable of far more sophisticated use. I especially enjoy the ease of scrolling through the menus, which I found to be much simpler than similarly priced competitors. It is also very easy on batteries, lighter and far more compact than any camera I have previously owned. Having used this camera extensively for the past few months, I have no current plans for any other camera purchase. I do miss not having a viewfinder however."

"This newer model is the upgrade for the 5MP TZ1. Big pluses in this camera include retention of the 10X Optical Zoom and SDCard media format. The price point is reasonable, even cheap for the features it offers against more expensive competitors like Nikon and Sony. I personally purchased one of this camera line as a replacement for a Sony CD Mavica that I've had for years. Simple to operate. Excellent image quality. A viewfinder would be nice, but at this price that would make it a near perfect product. We all know what perfection means...There's no where to go but down. I would give this product a definite buy recommendation."

"Takes great pictures. But I was a little suprised that for over $300 the camera didn't have a viewfinder. When my wife and I are out camping in our RV we like to take outdoor shots during the cocktail hour, and it's very difficult to see the LCD in sunlight."
