What's great about it: Easy for your family to understand
What's not so great: None
"I bought this as a Christmas present for my 17 year old daughter. It took me about 5 minutes to locate the initial signal and then all she does is type in the device where she wants to go and it takes her there. Well worth the piece of mind knowing my daughter can always get help via this device if she is lost. Touch screen, light wieght , and easy to use ( a lot easier than say the Mercedes Benz system). This device does not freeze either, Well worth the $249.00."

A decent product. No regrets.

What's great about it: Ease of use, great features.
What's not so great: Can take a couple minutes to aquire sat's.
"We bought our Nuvi 200 for a door buster price. For what we paid, it is a steal. However for $240 or more....keep looking. I like it. The screen is a decent size. The features are great and there are plenty of them. My only complaint is that it may take a minute or two to obtain a signal. But again, the next time we travel abroad the mileage and currency converter will come in handy."

What's great about it: Does everything I need
What's not so great: none
"Got this for Christmas and it is great. No maps needed ever again so I dont have to pull over to find my way. Easy set up, worked right out of the box. Ive lived in StLouis all my life and already Ive been on streets Ive never been on. It takes you the shortest route to your destination, therefore saving gas. I can see that within a year I will have saved enough in fuel to more than pay for this beauty"

What's great about it: My wife can't b****h at me for making a wrong turn
What's not so great: Has trouble booting up and finding satellites
"I first saw a GPS in use when I was travelling. I watched fascinated as the driver made his way from the airport to my destination. My wife said I either had to buy another wireless broadband account which would be useless while driving or find some other way to get around, so, I found another way. The Nuvi 200 is a basic model. It isn't fancy, but it DOES work. It doesn't matter to me that it doesn't announce the street names. I'm not blind or I wouldn't be driving. The smaller version is just fine and easy to read, even for these tired old eyes. My only complaint is that it sometimes doesn't find the satellites, which requires a reboot, but so far this thing has been tough tough tough. And I can use it on foot, too. And the best part of all? It doesn't scream at me when I make a wrong turn! WHOOT!"

What's great about it: Tells me when to turn and street names are big
What's not so great: Nothing.......I LOVE IT!
"I received this as a gift from my husband for Christmas. This is the best thing ever. I am in sales so I am driving all the time and getting lost. Instead of having paper all over my car from mapquest print outs all I need is this wonderful device. I know some people said they were disappointed about the voice not saying the street names but the screen is lit up enough even at night to where you can easily see the street name, and it will tell you in advance before you need to turn, for example in .5 miles turn left. For the price of this device, this is the best thing ever. Yeah you can spend more and get a few more features but this does everything you need for the average person."

What's great about it: easy to use and portable
What's not so great: none that I can find yet
"I received this GPS as a Christmas present. It is so easy to use. It's great that you can see street crossings on screen, especially when you can't see street signs as well in the dark. I bought the friction mount for the dash board and it works great. I can easily move the unit and it doesn't slide even with sharp turns. The greatest thing is I can use it in my car or my wife's. I purposely missed a turn and the unit recalculated immediately. Love it, Love it. Looking forward to using it on a road trip."

What's great about it: Volume, Ease of Use, Features, Price, I could go on and on...
What's not so great: Once you have it, you will want to buy one for every member of your family.
"This is an amazing unit for anyone. I did a lot of research including "test driving" some friends GPS units and finally settled on the Nuvi 200. I vacation tested a $600 brand with a name similar to "Tim Tim". In my opinion the Nuvi 200 is far superior for the average user. I don't want to spend the extra money to have the blue tooth hooked to my phone, I don't want to play mp3's or deal with traffic alerts, I don't care if it will show me vacation pictures and give me directions in the voice of Ozzy Osbourne. I want clear accurate directions that will get me where I want to go. I looked at the 200w, but the bigger screen only gives you a wider view when what you would really want from a bigger screen would be a taller view. The 200w does display more menu items at one time, but to me that is not worth the extra money and trying to fit a larger unit in my pocket every time I get out of the car. The volume on this device is amazing and clear. I actually had to adjust it down to 20% and I can hear that clearly while driving. I deal with technology daily in my job so for me a new toy is easy to get to know. I bought another for my retired parents and they were able to use it on the way home not even having read the directions. Trust me, you can not go wrong with this device. Feature packed, easy to navigate and at a great price. You will wonder how you ever got along without one."

What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: none yet
"the nuvi 200 was awesome. I can't install anything and my knowledge of GPS systems and installations was ZERO. I literally took it out of the box and turned it on. It worked right away It received a strong signal and started working right away.
If you miss the turn, it will say "recalculating route" and IMMEDIATELY does it!! I recently moved to a new house that just was built last year and it was in the system!! Also, I have satellite radio which already took up my cigarette lighter, so i bought a splitter at Best Buy for my lighter and now i can listen to my Sirius and watch the nagivation.
It can nagivate the Pittsburgh roads which are notoriously one of the hardest and most heavily constructed roads around.
I give it a great recommendation."

What's great about it: Compact, Route Recalculation
What's not so great: Takes too long to acquire satellite
"I've had the nuvi 200 for 4 days now, and I love it! The fact that the system does not speak actual street names, isn't a problem for me being that the street signs outside NYC are so small/ hardly visible. I've noticed that it takes a long time to acquire the satellite after leaving last known destination. I purposely got lost and the system recalculated to get me back to where I needed to be. No more trying to read printed direction (mapquest) and trying to pay attention to the road especially at night!"

ATTENTION SENIORS!!!

What's great about it: Easy to use, hear and read.
What's not so great: Living in Michigan, I wish it had maps of Canada.
"I'm almost 70 years old and the Garmin nuvi 200 is my first GPS. I like this thing so much that the only "Con" I have is that I haven't had it for the last 54 years that I have been driving. I plugged it in and went on my way without a problem. I tested it on locations that I know well and it has more than met my expectations. It finds a signal almost as soon as I turn it on. I live in a new area that the streets and houses are only 4 years old and the Garmin 200 located my home very quickly. If you are a senior and hesitant to try a GPS, I highly recommend the Garmin nuvi 200. If you are a younger person and thinking about buying a GPS for you parents, this unit is a great choice."

Dissapointed

What's great about it: Small, Compact, Inexpensive
What's not so great: Poor Performance; Can't trust it.
"I purchased a Garmin Nuvi 200 about two weeks before Christmas 2007. Over the next few days, I tested it out. In short, I found the product to be unsatisfactory. First, while my home address could be found on the database, the unit routed me through a parking lot to reach my home. Driving through a parking lot isn’t exactly legal, but I had to admit the route did cut off about a half a mile from my trip. The second “error” wasn’t so easily dismissed. My wife and I had dinner in Bluffton, SC. After dinner, we planned to visit another city about 25 to 30 miles north. So, I entered the destination address and let the Nuvi navigate us there. We know there are at least two possible routes along numbered state and federal highways, but the Nuvi directed us through some back country roads and finally to a dead-end dirt trail. When we hit the dead end and started to turn around, the Nuvi went wild. It said “Recalculating, go 200 feet and turn left.” Then, “Turn right.” Then, “Recalculating, make a U-turn.” Then, “Turn right, turn left.” Clearly, it was about to have a nervous break down, so I turned it off. After this experience, I couldn’t trust the unit. So, I returned it to the store where I bought it. I am very disappointed with this product."

What's great about it: Compact, price,
What's not so great: bad sun reflection, no directions with street names
"Before buying my first GPS, I made a lot of research. I wanted to buy a good device, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I was in love with the Garmin 200 since I first saw it. One of the features was my favorite: voice directions with street names (instead of: make a left in "point two miles").
So, when I saw the price in Best Buy during black friday, I ran to the store and bought my Garmin. When I first used it I thought something was wrong with it. No street names announcements. The guy at the store said the advertising co. made a mistake. Bad, bad, bad....
So be aware, NO STREET NAMES ANNOUCEMENTS!!!!"

What's great about it: Very Easy To Use
What's not so great: No Cons!
"This item is great for the price. I live in the woods with hardly no cell phone service and my Garmin works great and picks up service right away! This item is definitly worth every penny paid. It is sooo easy to use, self explanatory. No directions needed at all. All I did was turn it on and it was ready to be used. It sits beautifully in the vehicle and securely. I would recommend this item to everyone. My husband purchased a Garmin for $500.00 dollars and I paid $199.99 and you can't even notice the difference they both work as good. But of course I have the better price for just as good item! Go get it, it is going like hot cakes!"

What's great about it: Very small size, incredibly easy to use, lots of features!!!!
What's not so great: Needs more up to date Points of Interest and addresses.
"I bought this at Best Buy and plugged it in and started to use it in the parking lot! Infact it was so easy to use that I got directions to my next destination without even looking at the manual! When I got home I downloaded a little pink car and the "5.0" cop car...so fun!!!
Only draw back is that it isn't perfectly up-to-date with some restaurants, gas stations, and addresses...but if you choose a gas station near by and there is a newer one on the way I am sure you are going to be smart enough just to stop at that one!!!
So, perfect for that person who needs navigation for long trips once in a while and likes a low-priced gadget that even has a picture viewer and calculator!!! I would definently buy this one again!!!!"
