What's great about it: Volume excellent - even in an airplane, good picture quality
What's not so great: Remote didn't come with it, was supposed to. Waiting for Best Buy resolution
"This is an excellent value for the money! The picture quality is much better than sets costing much more and the sound is both clear and of good quality. Also, the volume is adequate for use in an airplane with just ordinary headphones. I highly recommend it."

What's great about it: The video image is really good
What's not so great: the cd player might stop if you it gets bumped
"My uncle found this dvd player used, but in its box. He told me that he found it in the garbage. I pluged it up, and it works perfectly. Its the highest quality screen that i've ever seen. The hinges work great, and it works great with pluging game system up to it. I even stopped playing the games on my big tv, it looks better on this player. The only bad think is that if something bumbs the cd cover (that you lift to get the disk out) hard enough, then it will say that the player is open. Its very easy to operate, and i would even rate it to my bests friends, or even my teachers. I just wish it was a laptop"

What's great about it: Good Picture; Plays Nicely/Lots of formats/control's well formed/durable
What's not so great: Battery Stinks X10
"I Got This, Thing (blahh/Yahh!) Two days ago And Plugged it in for the night, and it played for about a Half Hour, And without a battery indicator or slightest warning Shut off (Grrrrrr!) And then plugged it in again, It Turned On Within 1 Milisec Upon unplugging. (Yahoooo!) And Promptly Shut off Again (wahhhh!) The Picture Quality was great but I Think they didn't tell most of you that this product probably has a high return rate Or So I Would think... Other than that It's Purely Awesome, But I Might have What I Call The Glitched Game or the bad egg out of the carton"

What's great about it: NICE SIZE, EASY TO USE,SLEAK LOOK
What's not so great: BATTERY WONT STAY IN, AND ITS LOUD
"I BOUGHT THIS LAST NIGHT IT WAS IN THE STORE FOR 127.00 ONLINE FOR 149.00. I PLAN TO USE IT WHEN I TRAVEL.WELL SAD TO SAY THAT THIS ONE WONT BE TRAVELING WITH ME. I TOOK IT OUT THE BOX TRIED TO CHARGE IT AND THE BATTERY JUST KEPT FALLING OUT. IT WOULD NOT STAY IN PLACE. IT SEEM AS IF I THE LATCH THAT KEPT IT TOGETHER WASN'T STRONG ENOUGH TO HOLD THE BATTERY .IF THIS IS A SMALL ISSUE BEFORE I EVEN TURNED IT ON. WHO KNOWS WHATS NEXT.iT ALSO LOUD BEFORE YOU EVEN PUT A MOVIE IN IT. I MAY HAVE JUST PICKED THE WRONG APPLE . BUT,THIS ONE IS DEFINETLY GOING BACK TOOODAY."

Restarts when you go over bumps in the car

What's great about it: It seems to work really well
What's not so great: loud loading noise, and can't use the remote if you have the screen switched around
"I bought this just over a month ago. I waited to buy one because the one i had hadn't broken yet so I spent weeks deciding. I hadn't read the review on this one and ended up buying it before hand. When I did read the reviews i was terrified. But to be honest it works really well, loud loading noise, like a grinding. the disc dosent always catch and it makes a noise then too. It seems kind of dark (the picture) i hate that you can't turn up the valume with the remote.
NOW WHATS GREAT: It looks great, the wrapping and bubble plastic it comes in, can be used as a great little caring case. I was affordable, light weight. It has like this memmory or something built in so if i trun off a movie unplug it back it away then go home plug it back in it will start from where you left off. easy to clean"

"For the first few months this was a great player, the picture is awesome but it started skipping, pausing on it's own and then the motor started running really loud. It would stop when I pressed down on the door, but I couldn't watch a movie like that!!!!!!!"

What's great about it: Came Out of the box easily
What's not so great: Picture Froze
"My mother in-law purchased this for my 9 year old son for Christmas. He opened it, charged the battery and started watching a movie on Christmas day and the picture would just freeze. It didn't matter what movie we put in the player.
Based on the other reviews I find on the sight I would not recommend the product to anyone. I would not try to save the $10-$20. Buy the LG or Sony products."

What's great about it: ...I'm thinking.....
What's not so great: poor quality, dark picture
"My 4 1/2 y/o dtr uses this player to watch videos in her room at night. We bought this one to replace another Insignia player bit the dust after more than 2 years of use in her room and in some car travel. This one is horrible compared to the other. I'm hoping we got a lemon....
The first thing I noticed is the player is noisy when loading or scanning a disk (i.e., going back to the menu after the movie is over). The volume control is not a dial (like on our previous model), so getting the volume quiet enough without muting it is not possible; it's only JUST too loud, IMO, though it doesn't seem to bother her much. Also, he picture is dark and grainy, no matter which setting we use. Finally, after having this player a week, the disc door will no longer close. We have to place a book on it to keep it shut while it plays a movie.
Because we purchased the extended warranty on this product, and because we had such a great experience with our previous Insignia player, I will be exchanging this one for another in the hope that this one was a lemon."

What's not so great: freezes up, quits reading discs
"Bought two for my kids. Both would feeze up even when they were relatively new. Now almost a year later, one has quit working. The disc spins, but it will not read it. Shouldn't have to buy one every year. Also, the battery time is very low. We have a 2 hour 10 minute drive to our cabin and sometimes it makes it and sometimes it doesn't. You get what you pay for! I'd spend more for better."

"I bought this DVD player regardless of the negative reviews. It was worth every cent. We took it on a 18 1/2 hour plane flight to entertain my 2 year old. What a lifesaver. The rotating screen is great, he couldn't press the buttons. He wrote on it with crayon and markers, it wiped right off, no damage to the screen. And yes it was dropped multiple times, and it still works great. The battery lasts for 4 hours and charges quickly. Great for long travel. No extra batteries needed. I"

"this is the second one of these that we have purchased. we thought after the first one quit working that maybe we had a bad one and since the picture quality was so good we thought we'd try again. No luck with this one either... just four months after we bought it we can't use it. It won't recognize discs, it just spins uselessly, in short --NO VIDEO. I thought this was a reputable brand, but I'd rather pay half the price if I'm going to have to replace it every six months."

"This is the second dvd player i have had to buy with this brand name on it because over the two years i have had to return 6 times, it got to the point where best buy didn't want to honor the service plan anymore. I only purschase a second one because best buy use to let you exchange it in the store, but now you have to wait two weeks for them to service it and return it to the store. I would not recommend this product or the service plan."

"Purchased this for a 4 hour plane trip with my 21 month old son. We only used it for less than half hour on the way there. On the way back it did not work AT ALL! The DVD player was spinning, but, it would not read the DVD that we had in there. We tried 2 other DVDs that we had.. none worked. Not good!! I returned it the very moment we got home. Would never buy this brand again. I would spend the extra $50 bucks or so and would only stick to proven name brands - Sony, Philips etc.. They have never let me down. I guess you get what yuo pay for."

What's great about it: Screen, Price and the whole unit in general
What's not so great: Battery length misinformation
"I did alot of research of portable DVD players both in Canada and the US and i found this to be the best for the money whith the exchange rate and everything. Got it home and everything works fine. I was a little nervous getting a swivle screen with my old portable dvd plaver hinge breaking off but this swivle screen is very sterdy. When I was reading the manual it said the battery life for a single sided DVD is about 2h and for a double sided DVD about 4h. Now I dont no what the difference is but I will time it next time I use it and see how long it actually runs for."
