What's not so great: sub blown in less than 6 months
"I purchased this as a replacement for my Insignia 40 W and the sub blew within 6 months of purchase. I listen to my metal music loud so I think it could not handle it. I did not select the best buy warranty so I am SOL. I put my Insignia speakers back and the sound difference is amazing. I will be purchasing some better speakers soon, maybe the 2.1 Logitech 200 W I hear is good"

Great set of speakers

What's great about it: Nice sound, good bass, ipod capability
What's not so great: Everything hardwired together
"I had a pair of cyber acoustics from circuit city that constantly buzzed plus they weren't very good. Finally got tired of it, so when these went on sale I jumped all over it. They were easy to hook up despite the hardwiring, the bass gives a nice punch. I know that the 540 has more wattage and speakers, but unless your computer is going to be your home theater this will do just fine. I am completely satisfied with the sound. I got them on sale and for $40 you won't find a better sound and quality. My kids actually complained that the bass was shaking the ceiling downstairs."

decent speakers, with problems

What's great about it: They look good and sound decent as long as something is playing.
What's not so great: When nothing is playing, there's an annoying hum coming out of all the speakers...control pod is flimsy..long wires
"Decent set of speakers that look good and sound decent, not great, when music is playing. I purchased these because the cheap pair of generic speakers I bought on another site for 15 bucks died. These were nearly 55$'s at my local best buy. I had a gift card from xmas that I never used and needed some speakers for my new laptop so I purchased these as they weren't overly expensive. These speakers turned out sounding almost identical to the 15$ ones I purchased, and those didn't come with an annoying hum. I will be using these speakers more for my in-door sirius satellite radio hook up as there is NO HUM when listening to Sirius or when an mp3 player is plugged in, it's just when they're hooked up to the computer. It can be VERY irritating. I had a similar problem a while back with my Z680 speakers and logitech eventually came out with a replacement pod that you could of sent away for that gets rid of the hum...hopefully they do it with these. The hum on the X240's is a well known problem, as you can google it and there's tons and tons and tons of bad reviews. I almost wonder if some of the reviews being posted here are fake because no way can people be so happy with these when there's such an annoying hum that's forever in your ear unless you play a song or turn them off. I am a huge fan of logitech but they really disappointed me here. Hopefully they're working on a fix or something. if I paid for these instead of using my gift card, I would definitely return them for a refund then get the X230's, which have more wattage then the X240s, apparently sound way better, look better, are cheaper, and don't have the hum."

Good speakers but bad wires

What's great about it: Great sound
What's not so great: Three speakers and remote are hardwired together
"These speakers sound good enough but I find the wiring to be a total pain in the butt. The wire from sub woofer to sound card is removable but the other wires are not. So if you want to move these things around you have to move all of them at the same time. This includes the wired remote. I will be giving my set away and getting something simpler."

What's great about it: Great Bass When set, Gets Clearer sound when louder
What's not so great: Bass adjust is on back, Random popping noises,
"I needed a set of speakers because my laptop ones were completely useless. Dramatic sound quality improvement from the laptop speakers to these. The mp3 dock did not really help me because it would just fall off of it."

Fairly good speakers

What's not so great: Cant disconnect the base.
"After buying my new computer, the speakers in the monitor were just annoying. So i bought this set of speakers, and for the price, they are very good speakers. When the volumes up, they can get pretty loud. My only disappointment is that you cant disconnect the base."

What's great about it: Doesn't take much space, deep bass sound.
What's not so great: Two speaker heads are very low
"I have had this product for about a year now, and I love the subwoofer. The two speaker heads didnt cut it for me. I had to bring in two Dell speakers that you can control them separately from the sub, and it so much better sounding. Good for the price and bass sound, but the speakers just didnt work for me; on any genre of music."

What's great about it: Price, Logitech brand name
"Nice speakers for the money. I bought these to replace a pair of Creative speakers that I've had for years but the wiring had come loose on one of them. Since I listen to music a lot on my home PC, as well as Sirius satellite radio, I needed my speakers replaced ASAP but did not want to break the bank. I saw cheaper ones available but did not recognize the brand name. I have had years of experience using Logitech products and have never been disappointed. These speakers produce decent sound, and their small profile gives me more desktop space to use. I won't be using the mp3 cradle, but that is a nice feature for those who might be interested in that. These are the first PC speakers I've ever gotten that have a separate subwoofer and boy does it make a world of difference in sound. It does tend to get boomy if you turn the dial on the back of the sub up too high. I eventually found the right setting so I could still get that bass thump without the boominess. Overall I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family who need new PC speakers and don't want to spend too much."

What's not so great: Poor Shielding, Constant Buzzing Noise
"I purchased these Logitech x-240 speakers to replace my aging Logitech desktop speakers that were around 6 years old. Thinking that these would be even better I decided to try them. These speakers are horrible, there is a constant buzz when the volume is turned up even slightly and they are so poorly shielded that my I am constantly getting interference from my cell phone in the speakers. The older Logitech speakers I had gave zero feedback. What a poor speaker system to carry the Logitech name. I will be returning these ASAP."

"I bought a new computer recently. The speakers that came with my computer wasn't cutting it. So I went to Best Buy to browse for new ones. I came across these on display. I listened to it, liked it, purchased it. I must say these speakers are pretty loud and not to mention pretty cheap price wise. I have no complaints."

"I know these speakers are primarily computer speakers, but decided to try them on my HD telivision, since I was a bit short on cash and did'nt want to spend the money on a home entertainment theater system. I plugged them into the TV's headphone jack and I was pretty happy with the results. These speakers don't sound like a 400 dollar 5.1 surround system, but for the money they sound pretty darn good, and much better than the televisions internal speakers."

"I have an office so I wanted some speakers that were cheap and somewhat small since I would not be playing music very loud. These speakers work great for my office. I have to say though that the ipod stand really isn't as cool as it seems."

Good Speakers

"This speaker/subwoofer set by Logitech are ideal for people who want decent sound quality (their not the greatest speakers out there, but those cost WAY more).
Have yet to try connecting my iPod to it, but I didn't really purchase this set for that-- I just wanted decent speakers for my PC."

What's great about it: sound quality and ease of set up.
What's not so great: none that I can think of.
"the ease of set up made it work even for someone with all thumbs. Two connections and the power cord was all that was needed to bring my music library alive. The subwoofer was small in size, but large in making the floor move. There was no distortion or overdrive from the two desk speakers. Overall, I would reccomend it to anyone who wants a lot of sound without a lot of size."

What's not so great: Unable to disconnect wires from bass unit to move from place to place
"The base unit with its downward facing speaker can really thump. The sound quality is muddy but that seems what people like these days when most are only listening to Rap. Would like the ability to disconnect the satalite speakers from the bass unit for storage or moving from place to place. Otherwise works good as a speaker for an mp3 player, phone, or anything that can plug into the 3.5 mm jack."

What's not so great: kind of a lot of wires, sound is distorted at high levels, the left speaker didn't work as good as the right one
"It is a great product for the price. The sound problem with the left speaker can be fixed if you adjust the balance over to the left speaker. I have read that this has happened to other buyers. It's not a huge deal, but it could be better. This system has great bass and can be heard throughout the house. You're getting a big punch of sound without having to spend a whole lot of money."

What's not so great: distorts at higher volumes, imbalanced EQ
"I bought these speakers to use with my laptop, considering laptop speakers almost never really cut it for anything other than managing away from home. For the price I was not expecting much, but the 2.1 setup and good reviews made me hopeful. I was pleased when I first used the speakers and heard some great bass reception and decent highs and mids. However when I turned these speakers up some, while the subwoofer held up great the satellites did begin to start distorting. Overall for a dorm or bedroom these make for great speakers for the casual user, although I do plan on adding some new higher quality satellites to this setup."

"ive been running through my iHome (works great. dont get me wrong) but i wanted some more to push through.
i looked around
great price so i went to buy
installed
EXTREMELY SIMPLE
instructions are really clear
the only thing that i didnt like was when i set up the satelites in the place i wanted the cord wouldnt reach.
only about a 6-8 foot cord on the satelites.
buy an extension for safety. you can use other places if anything
great buy. i recomend"
