What's great about it: Complete set of cabling included, large hard drive
What's not so great: Does not come with play & charge kit for controller, lack of matching accessories

"Initially, the 360 Elite stood out for having a much cooler running console, an actual HDMI port, and the niceties of a larger hard drive, the matte black finish and other extradites. It was also rumored that the 360 Elite was also made of those components which passed the most rigorous testing in the assembly lines for Microsoft's console leading up to its release.

Nowadays, there are much less differentiating elements to this edition over the revised Pro and Arcade SKU's, but there is still no question: The Elite model is still the best way to go. And with the newly reduced price, the Elite stands out as a much more compelling value.

One of the key benefits with this edition is clearly the comprehensive supply of cabling that comes with the unit. No need to worry about if you have to buy extra cables here or there to connect with. The only output cable not provided in this bundle is the VGA cable. HDMI (with the optional breakout box for other audio output), component/composite video, it's here.

Many may say "but you'll never need that much storage", well... MS wouldn't have revised the Pro with a larger hard drive if that were the case. And with one of the big rumored updates for the console being the ability to rip your games onto the hard drive for faster loading and quieter operation, the extra storage is going to become practical very shortly. Clearly, there is (or will be) more reasons than ever to use that storage space, and it will be better to have it now before you do need to buy more later.

If this is your first time with an Xbox 360, this may very well be the best way to go. It does cost the most money, but you are getting a lot in return."

What's not so great: On my fourth one now bc they have hardware malfunctions....

"Microsoft made a great system but could have spent a little more time on it. The graphics are great, the games are great, but the red ring of death isn't... Anyway, HDMI is great on this system definately worth the price. I'd recommend it to anyone."

What's not so great: None

"This is the best game and all around entertainment center. After the new update coming this fall approx November, you will be able to choose from over 10,000 movie titles and shows from Netflix and stream to the xbox360 console via internet. There are hundreds of games to choose from and best of all, Microsoft has just price dropped these. It is a wise investment. I have owned one for 2 years now and i would recommend this to everyone. From youth to adult. Parents you should watch what games you buy them. They have a rating on the game for a reason. "MA" is 17 years and older for a reason. Gears, GTA, are good examples. Although they may be good games they are not for youngsters. Buy one now and save in the future!!!!!!!"

"I couldn't be happier with this purchase, because the games in Full 1080p HD look unbelievable. It is definitely worth the extra money, especially when you consider that it comes with a 120 gb hard drive. I highly recommend this product, especially over the other xbox 360 consoles."

What's great about it: Very fun, great graphics, lots of games
What's not so great: pricey, no wifi included

"Very fun system, excellent graphics, huge selection of games, controller works great. It's a bit noisy (fans and drives), and the wifi adapter is too expensive to be practical so you will need an wired network connection for online action. I'd say this and the PS3 are equal overall."

What's great about it: This console has ease of use and extremely good graphics.
What's not so great: While the graphics are good it just can't beat the PS3 for power and performance.

"The XBOX 360 combines the legendary power of Microsoft with a user friendly interface. I was happy with the time and effort obviously put into the console by it's creators. The XBOX Live feature is exceptional in it's ability to connect the user with other players. To my amazement you could actually see a difference between this version of the console and previous versions in terms of graphics and overall performance. One cannot help but to be amazed as you sit back and play titles such as Halo 3. The triple core CPU is not on par with that of PS3 though with the games being put out right now for the XBOX 360 makes this a better buy. Another prominent feature for this version is the 120 gig hardrive that it comes with. This allows the user to sit back and download games and music onto it without having to worry about running out of room. The bottom line is that with it's price reduction and features this is the best buy that you can make right now."

The only xbox you should buy 08/27/2008

What's great about it: u get evrything that you can get out of the box
What's not so great: no wireless adapter included and hard to find black acsessories

"i love my 360, mainly decided to go next-gen when gta 4 came out and this was more in my price range than the ps3 at the time. the online is amazing and makes the replay value on every game atleast double. u do have to pay $50 a year for it, but it is worth it when you see how much work has been put into it. i have had mine for 6 months and no problems or red ring of death lol, but jus in case microsoft is honoring the 3 year warranty if u get it. harddrive is 120gb so if u think ull need that much get the elite because the harddrive will run you 180 seperately. so if u need a small harddrive jus go for the pro. the arcade is a waste of money because u have to have memory to go online so if u buy the arcarde for 250 u;ll have to buy a 50 memory card that holds only 512 mb to get online. so u have 300 in it = pro price."

What's great about it: excellent selection of games, online, wireless

"I had the pro console and bought that march of 07. Less than a year later i had gone through 4 consoles finally took the 5th one and sold it to my friend. Went out and bough the Elite around the same time a year later. Have had no problems at all with it. It has only froze on Rainbow six vegas 2. I play cod4 all the time and it never freezes and have no problems at all. The red rind of death has finally been fixed because i have the new falcon chips and they must have fixed it because it hasn't broke and its going on 6 months old with no problems. I would recommend the 360 over the ps3 because truly there are not that many good games out for the ps3 yet. Blue ray is the only thing that console has and truly i never watch dvds and especially blue rays. I just got my hdtv with full 1080p and it looks just gorgeous with the hdmi hook up. Maybe the ps3 has better graphics, but still graphics look just as good on the 360. Also the ps3 just started incorporating the rumble feature on their new games when 360 has been doing so since day one. I wont buy a ps3 for at least another year and by than microsoft may announce their new console. And for those who have the RROD go buy a Wii that is why i got it."

"the xbox 360 is the best console out there plain and simple. the graphics are amzing the online is increbible and the games are terrific. it has better games than any best graphics{ if you use hd that is} best online by far. there are no problems with this sytem exept the dvd player. the excruiciatlingly loud noise when you watch a dvd . plus the memory 120 gb of memory thats just amazing. plus the gamerscore is a really clever idea. thats just some of the things that make the ebox360 the best console out there."

What's great about it: HDD, Graphics and Sound, color matches other equipment
What's not so great: lacks two controllers and pricing is a little high

"I have owned it since Sept. of 2007 and no problems what-so-ever. I have played COD4, MOH Airborn, all three Halo games and Ghost Recon2 and have had a blast with them all. Only problem I encountered was buying a second controller for the kids. All in all, its a great system, beats all the Sony and Nintendo consoles hands down."

"let me start buy saying i have owned the original white 360 and got it when it first came out..i never had a single problem with it at all it was a great system! the elite is all that and more! it runs cooler and the storage copacity is phenominal! also u just cant ignore the selection of epic titles for the 360 vs the ps3! (Halo, Bioshock, fable 2, gears of war!!) i loved the orig xbox and the 360 has definatly delived !"

"Halo 3, COD 4, BioShock, Gears of War. Nuff said

I have owned every sony 1, 2, and 3 and am happiest with game line up on Xbox 360. I prefer the xbox controller triggers, battery life, and size and form most comfortable for grown man size hands. I would have like the wifi feature built in and I would have liked a web browser like the PS3. But hand down I perfer the xbox 360 go elite if you need the space of 120 gigs i have use 50gb. Thanks and enjoy"

What's not so great: blue-ray not built in, $100 more than ps3

"I would rather get a ps3 beacuse beause you save like $100. This company of the xbox360's have been copying the wii from the mii characters and the free demo's. The ps3 has has the home coming out which is free. This is like a free game which allows you able to built your own house, drive a remote control boat, and watch t.v. in your game house. Xbox360 company does'nt have any game that really stands for microsoft. I think you should only go for the ps3 and not the xbox360. The ps3 is moving into MAG which allows a 265 player game."

Great games - broken console 07/28/2008

What's great about it: Outstanding graphics and software library
What's not so great: Hardware failures

"This is easily the best console out there (I have a PS3 and Wii) when it comes to graphics, performance, internet, and software library. However, the hardware failure rate is completely unacceptable. Realize up front that your console will fail, its only a matter of time. Hopefully the engineering fixes implemented will reduce the failure rate, but it remains to be seen.

Purchesed my 1st console on the day of Halo 3 release only to have the disk drive fail 4 months later. Took 5 weeks to repair and here I am 4 months later with the dreaded RROD. Currently waiting on repairs...

Microsoft committed to working on reliability Jan 2008 and hopefully they were serious. The only problem with the console is reliability."

"This is a horrible machine. I was not happy with it at all. The console overheats way too much and the entertainment center would get very warm.
Im sticking with my sony and nintendo for now. I returned the xbox."

What's great about it: the HDMI capabilities

"I really love this xbox 360! The black color looks really sweet! I have a HD TV and this xbox 360 already has an HDMI port. Unlike the normail white xbox 360 which doesn't have the port on it (you have to buy a adaptor). This xbox has a better picture than the white ones that have to have an adapter so its worth the buck! Also you have a 120 GB hard drive which is outstanding! You can store more music on it and not have to watch how much space is left!"
