What's great about it: Easy set up; fast file reads and transfers
What's not so great: Too tight of fit for multiple SD / Micro-SD cards. May damage cards inadvertantly. Short USB connector cord.
The reader itself was easy to set up and the PC to see the reader. I had issues with inserting the SD / Micro-SD cards into the reader itself. It was an extremely tight fit. And this was using SD / Micro-SD cards from three separate companies for each format (generic / Kingston / San Disk.) I see a potential damage risk of the cards because of this design. The other complaint (and this is with a lot of card readers) is that the USB cord is not long enough for hooking up to a desk top PC.
The reader did work correctly with a SD-HC card of 32GB and transferred a 320 meg file in about 15 seconds, so it does work correctly.
Because of the issues with inserting the cards, I returned this item.

Used it twice; fairly good transfer rate - then it died altogether. We have multiple comuters in our home; two macs, two laptops - none will recoginize the device at all.

I've had this for a year or two now and I've never had any problems with it. I would rather it not have a cord like some of the other USB card readers, but most of those don't support CF cards.

What's great about it: Ease of use and speed
What's not so great: Poor directions, tight fit for card initially
This cards delivers on speed and ease of setup and use. The only thing I would change is the directions. The directions told me to insert the SD card with the metal slots facing up. This was clearly wrong and after I tried it, I was worried it may have damaged the card. It didn't. The fit is a little tight getting the card in the slot at first, but now it doesn't seem like an issue. Overall, this is a good value, although I haven't tried it for any other of its uses. I use it to transfer files from my camera's SD card.

What's great about it: runs great on windows
What's not so great: may not be the first choice as a christmas gift to someone
My current emachine running on MS vista would not read SD above 2 gigs. Sad to say there are a lot of parasite companies with adds all over the support page at microsoft.com fishing for suckers that think its a quick fix update for a few dollars, and its not.
Finding this diamond in the rough was a blessing. The package is very compactly put together...how did they get so much in this tiny box?
You get; the reader, a USB cord, a CD to install the reader, and a info sheet thats so easy a knuckle draging cave man could figure it out. Very good speed with a transfer indicator light when moving files.

What's great about it: I can upload my photos to my new computer
What's not so great: Have not found out yet.
This card reader works GREAT with Windows7 and my SmartMedia card from my Olympus Camera. If you have Windows7 and an older Olympus camera this is the reader to get. Don't waste time and money with the Olympus Reader it won't work with Windows7.

What's great about it: Multiformat capability. Small size
What's not so great: Poor performance. Slow device recognition. Repeated driver installs. Slow file reads.
I wanted a small multiformat digital card reader to use with both my desktop and my portable. I use SD, xD and CF digital cards. When I initially attached the reader, my system (Windows 7 x64) recognized the new device and started to install the drivers. The overall process seemed to take a longer than usual time. I tried testing the device with files I had on a 512MB CF, a 1 GB xD and a 256MB xD cards. When I inserted the cards individually, the system seemed to freeze. After about 5 minutes, the card would register. I could navigate thru the folders on the card but when I tried to open a file, the system seemed to stall again and I would get "not responding" and "COM Surrogate not responding" errors. Files were either very slow to load or not load at all. Also, there was a physical problem inserting the 1 GB xD card into the reader. It required much more force than the 256 MB card. (I believe I actually broke the 1 GB card while trying to insert it.) I exchanged this reader for the SanDisk ImageMate All-In-One and everything worked fine. Based on experience to date, I'd give the SanDisk and overall rating of 5. Thus, I'd recommend the SanDisk over the Dynex.

What's great about it: Runs under Windows 7 AND reads SmartMedia cards
What's not so great: N/A
I have a nine year old Olympus camera that only uses Smart Media cards. There are also not that many card readers out there that run under Windows 7. I really had to look high and low before I found this reader. Most either read smartmedia cards, but don't run under Windows 7 or run under Wimdows 7, but don't read smartmedia cards.

What's great about it: Flawless operation with every type of media out there
What's not so great: One pin bent when inserting card / was able to bend back
I have had this for almost 2 years. I work as a mechanical engineer and I use it constantly for my job. I pull large (2 GB) files off of all types of media. It works flawlessly and quickly. It even allows you to have multiple cards inserted. Each card comes up as a separate drive on your computer.
For the price, this is the best card reader out there.

What's great about it: Great price and easy to set up
I purchased a HP windows7 computer and found that my Canon digital camera software wouldn't work on the new computer. My memory card was a CF1 and wouldn't work in my computer. The Geek squad suggested purchasing a card reader.
All that I had to do was connect the reader and the pictures went instantly into My picture folder.
In the past,it took me 4 steps, with the orignal camera software, to load the pictures.
I was able to open the package in only a few minutes.

What's great about it: Takes multiple card formats
What's not so great: Nothing So Far
I was teaching a photography class in elementary school and wanted the students to give me their photos. I had been using nothing but CF cards and only had a CF card reader with an adapter. I found that this didn't handle the SDHC and MS Duo cards that the kids were using, so looked for another reader. I found this and it read all the kids' cards and I think it read my CFs faster than the reader that I had before.
