What's great about it: Compact; simple installation for PC
What's not so great: NOT iMac compatible; tends to make-break connections without warning; unpredictable power causes data loss
First Belkin product that I cannot recommend. Do not use this hub with any device that requires eject or disconnect before powering down.
CONS:
1. Intermittent signal loss; makes & breaks connections without warning
2. Any data storage devices connected to this hub may experience loss of data, failure of partitions, damage to unit.
3. High cost for inferior product

Device has a tendency to lose-recover-lose signals to peripheral equipment. I experienced damage to several flash memory sticks and a new Seagate Free Agent external hard drive. The Seagate's partitions were destroyed by this unit's unpredictable power cycles.

What's great about it: It's Very Easy to Setup, a toddler can do it

I just brought this item 2 hours ago, and so far it impressed me.
This item was on sale, got it for $20, it has 7 port, and not like others hub, it costs more, and and only offers 4 Ports.
Anyway, I got this, because I just receive a laptop from my grandma's friend, and the laptop only has one USB port, and my wireless G adapter requires at least USB port, so I have to get a USB hub so I can also plug in other devices such as my web cam, digital camera, external hard drive, etc. So that's why I got this.
On the box in includes the USB Hub, User Manual, AC Adapter, & USB Cable.
Also that this device has a AC Adapter, which means, you can use this to charge, or power your USB devices, such as iPods, PDA, Digital Camera, etc even without the computer.
So If you're looking for a USB Hub, then buy this one
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: At first it worked as a USB 2 hub should
What's not so great: It died within three weeks and no operating system will recognize or install it.
I expected more from Belkin. I believed that I could connect this device to my PC and once Windows Vista installed it, I could connect my USB devices to it and all would work fine.
That was so for about 3 233ks and then the Belkin hub died and not one of my PCs will recognize it when I connect it (without any USB devices connected to the Belkin).
Belkin charges way to much for this hub in the first place, but a 3 week life makes it extremely expensive.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's not so great: Very unreliable, loses connectivity to devices easily
After trying another USB hub that I purchased from Best Buy, I purchased this USB hub, thinking that the brand name of Belkin would be reliable, unlike my previous hub.
At first, this was true. However, now, after less than 5 months of use, 3 of the 7 USB ports are now failing frequently. This creates a problem, as all 7 are in use.
Jiggling some of the USB wires, including the power supply causes functionality to return, but only for a short time. After about 2 hours, the ports are now dead again.
I would not recommend this hub based on this reliability issue.

What's great about it: EASY TO USE, WORKS VERY WELL.
What's not so great: PORTS STOP FUNCTIONING AFTER ROUGHLY A YEAR.
I HAVE HAD TWO OF THESE UNITS AND THEY WORK GREAT FOR THE FIRST YEAR, BUT IS SEEMS AFTER A YEAR THE PORTS BEGIN GOING OUT. THIS IS ALSO WITH NORMAL USE. I HAVE ALL MY USB CABLES PLUGGED INTO IT AT ALL TIMES, BUT THEY ARE RARELY USED. ITEMS LIKE THE IPOD CABLE TO UPLOAD MUSIC, DIGITAL CAMERA TO UPLOAD PICTURES, WIRELESS MOUSE, PRINTER, WEBCAM. ALL THESE PERIPHERALS ARE NOT USED ON A DAILY BASIS, BUT THE PORTS STILL GO OUT. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO A FRIEND AS LONG AS IT WOULD BE REPLACED WHEN THE PORTS BEGIN TO NOT FUNCTION.

What's great about it: I now have enough ports for my stuff... nice looking, too!

I have never been able to figure out why computer makers have only one or two USB ports on their computers. I teach digital photography and I have not only the usual keyboard and mouse port needs (I am a Mac user), but I also have card readers, scanners, 2 printers and more that I need access to all day long. With the Belkin hub, I am now able to keep everything connected (there is nothing more irritating than needing to disconnect a device to plug in another). Plus, the Belkin has two VERY EASY TO ACCESS USB ports on the top of the unit. I no longer have to crawl under my work station to find an empty port to plug in a flash drive or camera to download. Thank you, Belkin... Thank you Best Buy!

What's great about it: Powers on everything and works with everything.
What's not so great: Design
This is the best usb hub ever, I plugged in 2 hard drives, keyboard, mouse, etc and it all works without any performance issues.
Would be great if it had a better shaped design, and perhaps if all USB ports light up like other hubs on the market.

I could not agree more with the other reviewers of this product. Powered hubs, such as this product, are far superior to unpowered hubs. It ended a horrible jumble of USB cables that I had hanging all over the place and me having to reach way over and behind my desktop to connect/disconnect devices. My desktop had USB 1.1 and 2.0 ports and now all of my USB peripherals are connected to 2.0. Glad I found the black version and not the white version shown. It is a bit bigger than I anticipated but well weighted. The top ports allow just about any combination you could want. I use one port for charging my MP3 player and the other for a Bluetooth adapter that was a bit too wide for one of the ports on the back of the unit (reserve the back ports for cables only).
I would recommend this to a friend!

I use a lot of USB devices off of my notebook computer. Having this Belkin 7 Port USB 2.0 hub makes it easy to expand the two USB ports on my notebook to seven ports off one of the two notebook USB ports. I have the unit sitting on my desk where I can easily plug more permanent devices off of the five ports on the back of the unit. Then on the top of the unit it has two USB ports that I use a lot for Jump Drives (USB memory sticks) and my digital camera and cell phone sync cable (mini USB cable). The unit maintains the high speed of USB v2 so everything runs fast. A well designed unit.
I would recommend this to a friend!
