Dyson Find the Dirt

What's great about it: Powerful, no bags, easy to use, good air filter
What's not so great: Expensive, heavy
"Picked this up before we moved into a new apartment. Looked like the rooms had been cleaned but we decided to vacumm anyway. This thing picked up so much dust and dirt it was kind of amazing. Used to clean hardwood floors and worked really well. Dumping out the canister is really easy. Picks up cat hair really well.
Only problem is doing stairs because of the weight."

My house is realy clean with Dyson dc 21

"It is expensive, but it is working very well.
It is designed amazing!
Positive:
You can find a lot of extra dirt after using your previous vacuum :-) .
It's easy to maneuver.
It not so heavy as a favorite American’s non-canister vacuums.
The bag-less.
You do not need to buy filters.
Warranty is for 5 years.
Negative:
The wand is so clumsy.
The retractable cord is not long.
You need more space for storing."

It's Not, "All That"

What's great about it: Powerful motor, bagless disposal, good filter.
What's not so great: large, clumsy wand, difficult to wrap up, extreemly short cord.
"$499.99 is a lot of money to pay for a vacuum, and I was expecting a bit more out of this one.
On the plus side:
It does have a powerful motor, and an airtight filtration system.
It's easy to maneuver.
The bag-less feature is convenient.
The motorized carpet attachment is powerful, and well designed.
On the minus side:
The wand is heavy and clumsy. It is also permanently attached to the hose, so the accessory tools can only be used with the wand. I would prefer the option of being able to use the tools with a simple handle at the end of the hose, like most canister vacuums have.
The retractable cord is extremely short, and I now have to use multiple outlets to get to areas that I was able to reach with a single plug-in using my old vacuum.
The hose and wand assembly is difficult to wrap and store.
There is no light on the motorized carpet attachment.
The dirt receptacle needs to be emptied frequently."

This vacuum can suck!

"The first time I vacuumed I filled the collection canister 6 times. I wasn't sure if this was because the canister was small or if the Dyson actually picked up that much more dirt than other vacuums. I used our current vacuum, then tried the Dyson over the same area. The Dyson picked up dust and dirt that not only the other vacuum missed but stuff I had no idea was in the carpet. I could not believe what was left hiding deep down into the carpet.
The air in the house is much cleaner and you can really see and feel a difference. The bagless feature is great and easy to empty. Attachments are simple to use. I found the uprite to be a bit awkward and heavy. The canister moves easily around the floor once you lock the hose into the attachment and has 2 handles so you can lift it up easily. I like that you can turn off the power brush attachment so the piece does not rotate for delicate carpets. Some of the negative reviews I read stated the carpet attachment was so stiff it damaged their rugs. I had no problems and like the option you can turn off that feature.
Negatives: the cord should be a little longer, the wand a bit easier to lock when fully extended and there is no headlight. The instruction book contains mostly pictures and few written descriptions on how to use. The vacuum was great on the hard wood floors but I would not pay the extra $$ if that was the only type of floor in the house. These cons aside and even considering the high cost (I did get it 20% off during a sale), the vacuum is great and was well worth spending the extra money - the five year warranty is also a huge plus in my opinion."

Great Vacuum

"The Dyson DC21 is a great vacuum. It features a powerful motor that does a great job on carpets and floors. The design is also very cool and convenient in terms of storing in the closet due to it's compact size.
My carpet felt softer after vacuuming and the room did not have that carpet/dust smell like it did after vacuuming with my old Electrolux. I found lots of dirt, particles and dust in the clear canister (half full) even though I had just vacuumed a week earlier.
The attachments that came with the vacuum could use improvement. While easy to attach/detach, they just don't seem to work as well as the vacuum. The edges of the propelling head does not suck as well as the center portion of it and when it comes to corners, attachments are a must. In addition, the vacuum is a little on the heavy side.
Overall, this is a great vacuum and thought it did not receive an outstanding rating from me, I would recommend it if you could look past some of it's minor disadvantages."

"This thing literally grips my carpet when I use it. I find myself wanting to vacuum more often just because this little monster makes it fun. Part of it is the sense that I'm wielding a ghostbusters weapon thanks to the funky design. It's also quieter than any upright that I've owned, and frankly does a far better job. I was stunned at what came out of my carpet the first time I used it.
Yes it costs more. Yes it looks strange. And Yes, you should absolutely invest in a Dyson if you want a quality machine that will last. I don't see Hoover or Eureka offering 5 year warranties on their machines. Do You?"

"While a Dyson may be a step down from a Miele, for those of us who've slaved with Eurekas and Hoovers all of these years, it's a little slice o'heaven!
I just picked one up last night, and am already in LOVE. Even though I'd already vacuumed the carpets that morning, the Dyson quickly filled its dust bin with things I'd rather not think of having been there in the first place.
My husband and I live with a dog and a cat, prolific shedders both, and using just the wand attachment, the DC21 got all of the pet hair off of our velvet lounge (which doubles as the dog's bed) in under a minute. Trying to do this with my Eureka required about five minutes and a stiff drink afterwards.
Best of all, all replacement parts are readily available for surprisingly low prices directly on Dyson.com!
So if you've got a little extra money to spend on a vacuum which seems destined to last a lifetime, I would heartily recommend picking one of these little miracles up."

"This may have been the absolute worst purchase I have ever made. Don't believe the hype. I replaced my old Miele canister with this junk. I don't know why. Hopefully my local vacuum store will take this as a trade towards a new Miele. :("
