What's great about it: worked without a problem What's not so great: mounting clip
"After trying four web-cams and ready to give up, I bought this one,, it works beautifully,, after down-loading click OK, plug in the camera and there is the sharpest picture I have ever seen,, everyone who sees it is amazed,, it zooms and moves as you tell it,, it's not the fastest scan so movement is blury, but it's not a movie camera, it's a web-cam,,I am buying one for each menber of my family, I strongly recommend this web-cam"

Worst Webcam for the price11/26/2007

What's great about it: Mounting system What's not so great: Very, very poor image/video quality
"As a regular HP customer I ended up buying this "true" 2 megapixel HP webcam, mainly because of its specifications and the sale price at BestBuy. I wanted to upgrade from a cheap Logitech webcam (0.3 megapixel) to enhance the video chat with my family. What a disappointment! This expensive webcam is way much worse than my cheap Logitech in terms of video quality (grainy), less available settings and even darker image. The (few) video settings available for the camera have absolutely no use for improving its video quality. Terrible mistake. I've ordered another webcam from Microsoft (VX-6000) and hopefuly it will be of some use. And it won't even work if you don't have a 2.0 USB port."

"We moved from the west coast to the east coast and wanted to make sure our family could keep in touch with us, so we bought 5 of these cameras at once. For the most part, it has been great.
As another reviewer mentioned, this camera does not appear to work with AOL's AIM software. We tried on multiple computers but nothing worked. Personally, I blame AIM. We all downloaded Skype and it worked great.
The image quality is great, though (as with all web cams), varies depending on your internet connection speed. If you don't see the FPS that you were hoping for, make sure PC and internet connection can handle it. It's probably not the cameras fault.
The built in microphone works great so we don't need to wear headsets while talking. The camera is supported by Vista and XP out of the box, which is another plus for us as one of our computers is running Vista. All in all, I HIGHLY recommend this web cam."

"i purchased this web cam today and i installed everything. yes, i was able to take pictures and videos...i was not provided the correct information on how to do these things though. i wanted to do video chat with AIM and whaddya know? IT DID NOT WORK WITH AIM! i tried to different types of AIM and two different computers that were both compatible for this webcam....on the BOX it says thaat it works with AIM, but no! it doesn't. so if you want to video chat, then DO NOT PURCHASE THIS WEB CAM!"

Very poor video quality08/23/2007

"I bought this and another HP webcam for my brother-in-law and his family to communicate. I was able to get it set-up with no problem, but the video quality was extremely poor. I went to HP's web site, updated the driver, and still the video quality was poor. The problems are: * frame rate is nowhere near 30 fps. The best I was able to get was probably 4 frames a second. I tested them and discovered that I could only make out the person on the other end if they sat still. Otherwise, they came out very fuzzy. * contrast and brightness were horrible. The view was always dark. * the wide angle lens (without ability to zoom in) made it very difficult to see any detail (and at times make out who was on the other end)."
