I returned a pair of $300 Monster Studio's for these on recommendation from a friend. The studio's just did not sound near what they did in the store, no matter what source I tried.
Wow ! These are the best sounding phones I have owned. I have had Bose, Klipsch, Sennheiser and Monster's. Who would think these cheaper phones would sound this great.
You barely need to touch the Sub dial to get a heavy boost of bass. The sub compensation works across the board on all music, and makes live recordings really come to life.
My only wonder is material quality, and only time will tell on that aspect. However, for the price compared with higher end phones, you could replace these annually and still have better sound.
What's great about it: Fantastic Sound. Accurate, rich bass. Low Cost. Comfort.
What's not so great: Nothing !
Best Uses: Gym / Working Out, At work, At home

Great set of headphones. They are comfortable for short/long periods of time. They have great sound. The sub-woofer is best used on low. It helps supplement the bass of your music. I wouldn't use on max for long periods of time, but when on max, they sounds great. I bought them for use on a family trip. I am so glad I did. They worked great. Also they do a good job of canceling noise due to being over the ear. If you want a pair of great sounding headphones, buy these!

ok so i have had 2 of these headphones and both of them have done the same thing. for the first 2-3 months ive had no problem. after that you will notice that when you plug it in you may have to move/put pressure on the audio jack for it to work correctly. after 2 weeks of that it becomes so bad you have to cut the wire and put on a new audio jack. another problem is the bass. while it is very nice to have the subwoofer it is not very good. the sound of the sub is distorted and does not sound very correct. after a while or after playing a certen tone the subwoofer will become blow and sounds worse. so now every time you use the subwoofer on a higher setting you can hear the crackling of the cone and by then they are not very good. so if you like to listen to music on the loud side and have a good bass, then this is not it. but is you keep your volume mid-way or somewhere around there these will do you good
What's great about it: comfort, has a subwoofer, dog doesnt like to chew big headphones.
What's not so great: quality, audio jack, subwoofer itself, sound distortion
Best Uses: When I travel, At home

i have had these headphones for almost a year now. i dont see why a lot of people dont like them. they sound great to me. the only reason my very first pair broke was because i dropped them a lot. i like the design. it felt a little weird when i first put them on but i got used to it pretty fast. sometimes when i put them on it feels and sounds like one side is pushed up closer to my head. with a little adjusting that can be fixed. Other than me dropping them a lot i have had no problems.
What's great about it: sound, price, look.
What's not so great: takes a short time to get used to, they break when you are clumsy. =)

I used to have the skullcandy ink'd earbuds, and they were good headphones, broke on me in 6 months. I assumed buying these 80 dollar headphones would mean better materials. I was wrong.
The sound quality was pretty good, i LOVED the subwoofer, the bass was amazing. It vibrated when i listened to "Like a G6" and my electro music.
BUT randomly, one day the right speaker went out. I treated them very well, and only had them for about 2 months. So i shipped them to Skullcandy HQ because the 2 year warranty covered it. they said "your headphones back or 50% coupon" so i was like alright. Well, i got an email saying "Thank you, we have received your headphones" and told me i got a TWENTY PERCENT discount, and to make it worse, THE COUPON EXPIRED THE NEXT DAY. WTH. I hate skullcandy, go for a brand you can trust. Currently i'm checking out Senhieser and Sony.
What's great about it: Sound Quality, Bass, Comfort (BUT IT BROKE, READ REVIEW)
What's not so great: Skullcandy are con's.

I bought these and yes the structure is kinda cheesy since it is mostly plastic but that is what black tie is for. I read a bunch of reviews that is is mostly rattle and not bass. NOT TRUE!!! I really enjoy the ear rattling feeling you get with these. It sounds a lot like the two 12 inch kicker comps i have in my car except on my head, and not quite as loud but same concept. I would buy these for my friends or family. I tried them on the display and they were exactly the same as when i left the store. CHECK THEM OUT!!!!!!
What's great about it: Nice bass interpretation and decent sound quality. It depends on what quality you are listening too.
What's not so great: plastic all the way around so be gently when putting on and off and storing but get the black tie and it is worth the $$
Best Uses: When I travel, Gym / Working Out, At work, At home, anytime

I've been looking for headphones for a while now. I'd say four months. I tried buying some headphones because my earphones kept popping.
I've looked at the three four other headphones, and these are by far the worst.
After reading all these positive reviews i figured they have to be good.
I've been listening to these for hours and i'm just getting more and more angry.
The bass is HORRIBLE, its more like vibrations. its not even bass.
If you dont have a battery your screwed cuz you need it for the amp. It sounds like the lows of the music were completely taken off.
and it only plays some of the bass. I listen to all kinds of music.
For techno/electro its all DISGUSTING BASS. Its not the nice clean bass that should be played.
For rock songs, you cant hear much of the highs or mids of the music...
Overall these headphones are HORRIBLE.
I would return them but i've already returned to many headphones.
i would just stick to the smokin buds they're way cheaper and sound sooo much better.
What's great about it: Comfortable
What's not so great: The awful bass, weird shape, no highs or mids
Best Uses: When I travel, At home, at school

These headphones are overall great quality, worth the price, and very durable.
There are only two things that catch my attention sometimes. First, though they keep my ears perfectly warm in winter weather, they do push my ears against my head a bit hard. Second, the sides stick out a lot more than I expected. I assumed it was adjustable when I looked at the picture but that was my mistake. The picture is exactly what it will look like on your head, the sides will really stick out.
Other than that, this product is great! No one around me can hear a thing no matter how loud it is, which was one of my main concerns in buying it. I'm very satisfied.
What's great about it: Sound quality, duration, compact, worth price
What's not so great: style, hard on ears

I've used Skullcandy Hesh headphones for a long time, and I decided it was time to upgrade to a pair that didn't have the Hesh's drawbacks: (1) Less-than-comfortable under long-term wear, especially with glasses, (2) Merely OK frequency response, and (3) Collects and amplifies outside noise rather than suppressing it. Honestly, when I donned the Hesh headphones and didn't have my music turned on yet, I could clearly hear conversations over 20 feet away that would have otherwise been inaudible. The reason is the Hesh's rounded earcups; they amplify the music very nicely, but they catch and amplify everything else too.
When I saw the Skullcandy Skullcrusher headphones on a silent display at the bookstore and tried them on I got very excited. The Skullcrusher is lightweight, flexible, comfortable with eyeglasses, and even when it wasn't hooked up to anything it still muffled outside noise. I couldn't wait to hear them in action.
I am glad I found stores with active displays and listened to the Skullcrusher headphones. Buying the Skullcrusher would have been a very expensive mistake. This is what I found:
-- The only display headphones I found in any store that had broken wiring or components were the Skullcrushers. 20 display headphones of other brands (some of which were obviously old) were completely intact and in good working order.
-- In one of the two stores that had a working Skullcrusher display, the bass-boost battery was dead. Without that battery the Skullcrusher sound is just pitiful. It's worse than the sound on $39 junk-brand headphones. The only other headphones I found that required batteries were the other manufacturers' noise-reduction styles (which sounded just fine without their batteries). On this Skullcrusher, the plastic headband was also snapped in half at the top.
-- In the other store that had a working Skullcrusher display, the left earcup was mostly dead. But the bass boost worked on both ears anyway. Weird.
-- Worst of all, when I turned the bass boost on it felt like I was in a dentist chair having my teeth drilled. Sure, the Skullcrusher now had fairly good audio response, but the bass sound was still a little "off" compared to other similarly priced brands on display. The Skullcrusher tried to make up for its lack of quality bass resolution by artificially vibrating the earpieces. Unfortunately, it also vibrated my lower jaw, nearly numbed my facial nerves, and tried to dislodge my fillings.
Bottom line: If you like the novelty of having your jaw vibrated until it's numb, if you have a stockpile of spare batteries, and if you can commit to always handling your headphones with delicate caution, then get the Skullcrushers.
But if you want a comfortable alternative with a sturdy build, better real bass sound and the same price, try the Sony MDR-XB500 Extra Bass headphones instead. Or do like I did and seek out a pair of Bose Around-Ear Triports (the predecessor to the AE2) which you can now get at a discounted price.
What's great about it: lightweight, comfortable with glasses
What's not so great: vibrated my jaw like a dentist drill, artificial bass sound
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Ive had these for a bit and they sound pretty good. yet they arent headphones id buy fro djing or for heavy use. the frame of the headphones looks small that if you have a fat head it looks(doesnt but looks) like itll pop. maybe now it wont but im giving it a couple months before they most likely break. as for the quality, like i said their good but not great. and the bass control "subwoofer" as skullcandy labeled it is almost as big as my zune :| and its attached to the cable so that adds some trouble to carry. overall its a great buy if your using them for regular use. if your going to use it for djing or loud music, go with the extra buxks and get beats or some Bose.
What's great about it: Quality, price? (compared to other "high quality" headphones)
What's not so great: The plastic framing, bass control on the cable a bit too big but not an issue.

I bought these headphones knowing that skull candy puts out some pretty good stuff. In the beginning of their life they were great. They have phenomenal bass and it is very nice how you can control the vibration on the external sub woofer. Also the joints in the cord are very sturdy and are good about not breaking. Another thing is comfort, they padding on these things is great, they are also adjustable to hug your head, then they fold up pretty small.
The only flaw that i see with these headphones is that the sound quality gets really bad when they get older. I can only listen to my music very softly or the bass will make it crackle. Also if you have too much bass on a song you have to turn the vibration down because of the distortion.
For the price though it is a relatively good buy. I go on many long trips on crowded charter busses with the WVU band and they have served me well with blanking out the noise .
What's great about it: good price, good comfort
What's not so great: doesn't last long

Amazing sound quality and comfort. Crystal clear bass drum, and ear-shaking lows with resonating highs. Exellent boost feature although bulky. Looses some bass in a few mid-level bass frequencies. These headphones don't let you hear the music, they let you FEEL it. Awesome styling and portability. Overall great headphones for any application.

I use these headphones on a daily basis. I use them on my laptop, phone and ipod for music and even with my PS3 when I play Call of Duty after everyone's asleep. The sound quality and clarity is far above everything else in this price range. I listen to a wide range of music from punk to metal to rap to techno, and have never been disappointed. The only thing that occasionally is a letdown is that sometimes the bass will overwhelm the music. Fortunately, the bass is completely adjustable. I consider myself quite the audio enthusiast and I highly recommend these as a great pair of headphones. If you want better quality, go for the Klipsch Ones.
What's great about it: Price, sound quality, adjustable bass.
What's not so great: Range could be better, but exceeds expectations for $70

Ok first i have to say how good these are for travel, they fold up to just about 6 inches by 2 inches, could fit in most anything. Now past that the sound is great, overall great sound quality, but it depends on how powerful you make the bass. These come with a bass amplifier subwoofer which can strengthen or weaken the bass. Now if you put the bass on to about 50% or less you should be fine, but above that and you will have problems. you will see that it distorts the sound of everything, not only the bass. The comfort of these is amazing, they go completly over the ear which will cause no pain over long periods of time. Now durability is a slight problem due to it bieng all plastic, dont worry about the cord since it goes to both drivers, but do be careful with the band since it can break with enough stretch or use. A few things that kinda make me mad is the size of the subwoofer, i mean its huge and people can notice it no matter where you put it. Another is the bass makes the headphones vibrate, making it annoying to listen to it, but this only happens with 50% or more bass. Otherwise these are amazing headphones for on the go people, just dont put to much strain on the band.(this comes with a carrying case so dont worry about that)

the head phones are nice sounding as long as the bass level is turned up all the way but then they vibrate from all the bass i would say these are good headphones if you really like a lot of bass.
What's great about it: comfert
What's not so great: bass is overpowering and sound quality goes down when bass is turned down
Best Uses: When I travel, At home, the bass is great to keep ears from poping
