What's not so great: hard to build very heavy to use aprox 33lb with one hand doesn't get easier
"Be very care what brisell offers. I went with this product to try scine it advertise it heats up water up tp 20degrees hotter . No it doesn't the same type of water you inout the same temp it come out. The machine is not light weight . it is hard to push back and forth in clean motion. you have to put some muscle int this steam vacum. I will go back to the hoover which is light weight and easier to munuver."

What's great about it: Easy to use and great features. What's not so great: The product was great at first. Then it stopped working after several times.
"I purchased based off the price and features. I really liked it at first. It has poor suction. You will see that it sprays out most of the water and you will have hardly any of the water back in the tank. It clogs up easily and parts break off. It is a pain to clean and to keep clean. It does not clean the carpet well. Great features if they actually worked, but they don't. I was very disappointed. I only got to actually use this machine about three times when it operated in full capacity. Now the brushes do not turn, it does not have any suction. They only thing working on it is the hand held part. This was a total waste."

What's great about it: Plenty of attachments, EZ to use, even for a husband! What's not so great: Motorized Attachment seems more form than function.
"Right out of the box very easy to get going. Love the fact that you dont have to mix the solution. Easy to fill and empty with the 2 in 1 resevoir. Dryer actually helps a little. Spot cleaner is a nice touch. My wife and I decided to buy a cleaner before our second child is born. We didn't realize how nasty our carpets really were untill we moved out the furnature prior to cleaning. This machine made really short work of the task and my before and after pictures show it. Only thing I would caution people on is how easy it is to over saturate your carpet. The adjustable flow can really pump out some water and solution. (deap clean, normal clean, etc.) I assumed I would need to have it all the way up on deap clean because how dirty my carpets were, however all it did was use up all my solution really fast. I was able to get the same results just on light and normal clean setting. I dont want to see the carpets that require the deap clean setting. All in all this machine while on sale is a steal for what you get. 1 motorized attachment, and 3 varried size manual scrubbing attachments, hard surface mop attachment and an edge tool. Instructions are very easy to understand and even comes with some sample bottles of product to try.(deep stain pre treater, hard surface cleaner, carpet cleaner)"

"Living in a rental property with two dachshunds means I am constantly battling to keep my carpet and linoleum clean and bright. This machine offers the purchaser the ability to use it on hard flooring and carpet. I used it on my carpet for the first time last night and it worked wonderfully. Be fore-warned that even if you vaccuum before hand (which you're supposed to) there will most likely be clumps of pet hair that this machine will pull up from the carpet that your vaccuum missed! This machine assembles easily - you just need a screwdriver. It's also easy to clean, just empty the dirty water out and give a good rinse. I used it this morning on my kitchen floor, and while the water was hot, the solution was working, and overall I was pleased, the hard-floor attachment seemed kind of pointless. Instead of using the squeegee attached to it to help dry the floors faster, it just pushed stuff around and made puddles...
The instruction manual is definitely geared toward someone who has owned/operated a steam cleaner before, so if you're like me and have never used a steam machine, it can be a little unclear.
Overall, this is a good product. Just take your time with it, clean it thoroughly after each use, and get ready to see some results!"

"My husband and I purchased this to help clean up pet stains when are dogs had an accident in the house. This got the carpet looking new and it also took the smell out. The hard part is knowing what cleaner to put in the deep cleaner but it works really well and it will steam the pet stains and odor right out of your carpet"

"This product cleans carpet well, is easy to fill & empty, has a separate soap container. The hose & attachment cleans well and is easy to use.
However - this product fell apart (broken parts, failed components, etc.) after just a year or so. We have dogs and light colored carpet so we shampoo the carpet on a regular basis. We did not over-use the cleaner, but did use it approx. once every 3 months or so.
The seal between the clean water tank and the dirty water tank failed; a couple of small plastic parts broke, the dispensers under the unit failed, etc.
We were disappointed in how long this cleaner lasted. A product like this should be good for 4-5 years, but we didn't even get 2 years out of it (~10 uses)."

"I purchased the deep cleaner thinking...Geez, I know this is not going to work but I need it. little did I know that I was so wrong. I set it up and cleaned some spots I had since christmas when bbq ribs were dropped on my off white carpet. I followed directions, sprayed the spots with special solution for 3-5 min. then went over the stains with the deep cleaner and the stains were gone. I left my home and came back hours later and the spots were still gone after the carpet was dry. It made a HUGE difference in my living room carpet. I love it so much I showed my cousin what this cleaner does, she went out and purchased one for herself."

"I have light tan carpet. It is 10 years old. I also have 2 dogs. I clean my carpets every 3 months. With my old shampooer the traffic areas were not getting clean. I was going to replace the carpet. Tried this new Bissell and could not believe the great job it did. My carpets look like new."

"We bought this machine (only 6 months ago) because we have 6 kids and I got tired of renting a cleaner every couple of months. I should have learned not to buy another Bissell after every seal on my little green machine failed after just a few months. I just convinced myself that for $300 there was no way this could be as bad....WRONG!!! The first use was GREAT. Then the top part of the tank formed a very large crack. Then the seal on the base of the unit that the top of the tank rests on fell apart. The machine uses way too much cleaning solution and the solution leaks from the tank. All of the attachments have broken where they attach to the hose. Now the seal around the bottom of the tank has failed. To fix this I would have to buy new seals for the whole machine, all new attachments and a complete tank set, at a cost of over $100. So, to the dump it goes where it belongs, and to another brand I go. To even give this a rating of 1 is still too high but it did work the first time."

What's great about it: Deep cleans carpets and the hand tools actually work! What's not so great: Small tank capacity.
"Bought this cleaner to replace a Hoover. Didn't pay much attention to all the glitz and glam with the accessories because they never seem to work. Suprisingly, they do. The hand held rotating brush attachment is powered by the suction of the vacuum. I've seen this feature on a Dyson vacuum I owned but it never really worked. This one works and does a great job on stairs. While cleaning high traffic areas, the dirt just keeps coming up. After a single cleaning, my light colored carpet looks new again. The machine and attachments are very easy to clean. The only downside to this machine is it's small tank capacity. It will clean an area around 12 to 15 square feet before it needs to be emptied and refilled. The emptying and refilling process is so simple and fast that its really not a that big of a downside. Very pleased with this system!"

"The water suction was not great to begin with. It doesn't perform well in corners. The hand tools are practically worthless. Most importantly, the plastic housing cracked on both sides after a few uses and apparently having banged into some walls (who doesn't do that even with vacuum cleaners?), after which there was no suction at all. I had to throw it away."

"Bought this machine to clean carpets after my dog had a bladder problem. I made a real mess of the carpet with various other cleaning products. The first time I used it, the stains were gone. Will have to clean the carpet a few more times to get all the odor out. The machine was very easy to assemble, the directions on use are very clear. The machine is a little heavy. It makes a loud kinda popping sound when the dirty water tank is full. Scared me the first time I heard it. The machine rolls smooth, lots of tools. The tank is rather small, had to fill-up a lot. Suction is great! Clean-up is a breeze."

"I thought with a name like Bissell it had to be good. Boy was have I been surprised on that. I replaced an old Hoover with this Bissell. Luckily I purchased the extended warranty because i will be taking it back for a 2nd, yes 2nd time for the same problem.
Kids, dogs and even adult .I use it a lot, as this is the reason I made the purchase. For the 2nd time, it does not want to suck up the water once you start cleaning the floor. So since I have the extended warranty that BB offers, I will not be getting another one of these, I will be going back to my Hoover product. Least that one wore out instead of breaking all the time.
Hopefully this will help you make your decision because a rating of a 1 is being generous."

What's great about it: It works better that the commercial rental units. What's not so great: I wish it could hold more water at one fill-up but I can live with it as long as it keeps cleaning as well as it has.
"I wasn't sure of the quality of the product when I figured out that it would pay for itself in two whole house cleanings. It worked better than any commercial rental unit I have used. My wife and I think it did as good a job as a professional carpent cleaner. The cleners provided by Bissell work well with the unit. It is easy to set-up, use and clean. The only shortfall is the water tank is a little small. We found to clean a 12 x 12 bedroom we had to fill the water tank one and a half times. With the outcome we can live with filling the water tank. Anyone thinking about renting or having a professional clean your carpets should reconsider and think about buying this unit."

"Bought 3 days ago to replace older Bissell ProHeat Clearview. Older model had to be repaired with every use. Motor died, clutch replaced, belts etc. This model cleaned VERY well and restored carpet nap. Second use in three days - beater bar stopped working in the middle of shampooing master bedroom. For $300 I expected to get more than one and a half uses before having to take it in for service. Deja Vu. :-(
My original Big Green Machine is still a workhorse. The upright models are a great idea, but not worth the money. I returned mine and did not get another."

"This replaced my 6 yr old Hoover. This has all of the extra accessories. -Good flow of water with dual spray heads. -Clean Shot is great to put extra water in a specific area. -Heater makes my very hot tap water actually hotter and keeps it hot. -Dual brushes restore nap of carpeting. -Very good suction for pulling water out of the carpet. -Crevice tool with spray is great along woodwork and steps. The only adjustment I made was diluting the shampoo that I put into the container by at least 50%. I found that even with the setting of Low that it seemed to use too much. The single container for clean/dirty water is easy to empty the dirty and refill the clean at the same time. Someone complained about having to unclog the spray heads but I followed the cleaning instructions and have not had a problem."

"I bought this to replace a Hoover rug shampooer I had for a few years. Way better machine. Cleans better and is well constructed. If you're thinking of buying one of these machines and don't know which one to get - this is the machine for you. I have beige carpeting thru my entire house and with having cats & a large dog, it gets a work out and makes my carpets look like new again. It may be a bit pricey compared to the others on the market, but well worth the extra few dollars and you get alot more features & accessories with this one than any other. In my opinion, this is the best one."

"I bought this product to clean my carpet. I have a very light colored carpet. We recently had a Wedding in May and people tracked mud and dirt into the house. We thought we were going to have to replace the carpet but after we used this steam vac the carpet looked as good as new!!! I would recommend this product to anyone. I love it because it is easy to take apart so that you can get rid of any fuzz that accumulates from the carpet. That was the problem with our old steam vac. We couldn't take it apart and clean it so it got clogged and broke."

What's great about it: Nice when new What's not so great: Not when old
"We bought the top of the line Bissel, two years ago, and as others have stated, it was easy to assemble, had lots of tools, and pulled lots of dirty water from the carpets and upholstery. After a few months and a number of uses (we have a cat and a dog, and teenage kids that spill pop), we noticed that the spray nozzles would no longer spray. This required disassembly of the nozzle and disconnection of the spray head from the fluid line. Taking a small stiff wire - the core of a twist tie - would push a blob of congealed cleaner out of the orifice. Once re-assembled, it would work again. As time went on, things started to break. The power head for the handheld unit would drip and the plastic parts started to deteriorate all about the same time. The side of the water tank cracked at the screw boss, the seals for the upper and lower tank started to fail, causing reduced suction for both the floor and the handheld unit. The motor housing cracked at one of the mounting feet. The handle for the tank snapped. I am tired of reaming the spray holes, and epoxying the plastic parts. It is now sitting in the garage, about to go to the trash heap, all $300 worth. I got my money's worth from it, but hoped I would not have to buy a new one every two years. I will look to another manufacturer this next time."
