Have been purchasing and using webcams since they first came out. So far they've all been introduced to my rectangle file (wastebasket). I would recommend the Logitech Pro 9000 Webcam, it's the best I've seen yet in the price range. Would recommend to anyone trying to decide on which is the best "Bang for the Bucks" webcam!

What's great about it: Instant install. A real no brainer purchase, it's a great camera!!
What's not so great: It could have come with a LCD mount, the provided one doesn't stay on my acer 23" LCD very well.
Who really needs 1080p on a desktop/Laptop camera?? This 720p camera is just fine. I like the fact I can video chat with my online professors when I need to. a very good camera for the basics.. I'll buy a 1080p camera, but a Hand held one.. I couldn't see my self dragging a Laptop around. Anyways, I like the software included, instant upload to youtube is awesome, no more clunking around the browser to find the upload button on the Youtube site. I am happy I finally got this, Just got it today at a store that was open at 3 am.. Not BB... But I must review on this site, to say that I would have easily purchased this from BB if they were open 24 hours a day.. Just an idea y'all.. I think they would be able to do it around the holidays and not loose too much money. Long story short good camera, don't second guess buying it.

I first bought a new HP web cam but took it back because I had issues with Skype compatbility (I use Windows 7.0). I then got this unit and it installed fast and has worked very well with Skype. Optics more than meet my needs and the microphone is also very good.

This is a good and cheap upgrade option for anyone using a factory webcam. These are my thoughts on it:
1) Easy to install from the CD. The only problem I had we that Skype still had my built in webcam set as default, however that is an easy fix by going to tools -> options -> general settings -> Video and changing the webcam.
2) Video quality is good when talking to someone in Japan. There is almost no pixilation at 640 x 480 resolution. This is not as good as the 780p resolution that the product says it will produce, however the reduction in performance could be due to slowness in the connection. Compared to my pervious webcam, you can see details in someone's faces such as the faint sign of eye lashes, freckles, and pixilated strands of hair.
3) Sounds quality is also an improvement over my built in webcam/mic. With my previous unit I would get a lot of feedback while using it (that annoying screeching sound you get when you turn you speakers up too loud.) This unit seems to do much better in preventing that. That is not to say it won’t prevent you from hearing your own voice, it will just prevent or stop the annoying screeching sound you hear when you turn up your speakers.
4) The auto focus seems to work okay it focuses on my face or area I am about 95% of the time, however the face tracking technology needs a little work. If you are sitting on a sofa about 10 ft away, it has a problem tracking; it will only track my face about 50% of the time. However, if you are sitting close to the computer this value goes up to about 100 %.
All in all, I am happy with my product purchase and would recommend this product to anyone looking for an upgrade to their factory webcam. It is a vast improvement over what I had before, and a nice value for the price.

I had purchased a webcam before and was very disappointed with the quality of the picture and the need for a separate mic. This camera however, has a fantastic picture, built-in mic with high quality sound and is easy to install. You won't be disappointed.

Great little webcam. Hooked up real easy and looks great on top of monitor. Picture is fantastic! Using with Windows 7. Looks like the other person is in the next room. Really like the built in mic.

What's great about it: Carl Zeiss optics, great picture, great audio
What's not so great: effects on software don't work
This is a great webcam. The video quality is outstanding. The Carl Zeiss optics are great, they're the same lense on most camcorders. The audio is great, there is no background noise or annoying fuzz. This webcam is great in low light because it brightens it up for you. The one thing I don't like is that the effects on the software it comes with don't work. Buy it now!

This webcam is easy to install and superior to others used by people whom I call as is evident from the split screen pictures. Highly recommended although it is a little more expensive than other models of webcams.

Great picture, super easy to set up, and the Logitech Vid software it comes with is one of the best video conferencing programs I've ever used.

HOLY COW. What a breeze to set up and use! It couldn't have been any easier unless it had plugged itself in! Picture quality is fantastic, and the microphone was very sensitive w/o distortion. We use our web cam for out of town client meetings...and let me just say, it is really the next best thing to being there.

What's great about it: Best Buy's return policy
What's not so great: Software kept crashing during and after installs
No one can tell me why but for some reason Logitech Webcams won't work on my system. Their software keeps failing during the installation, or hangs once its installed. Their tech support agents mysteriously turn into busy signals once they figure out there are software problems. No expert has been able to resolve this.
I'm sure other Win7 users are not having the problems I do - otherwise Logitech would have to pull it off the market. What I did expect and didn't get was a "clueful" tech support squad to help find the problem with their software... BTW - on this cam the first troubleshooting step the agent took me through was to download new software from the web - he said the CD had defective versions. Well - that's a heck of a way to start a new install with a new product. Something tells me they know they have a problem but haven't solved it yet. Good luck to you...

Simple install. The microphone setting keeps defaulting back to the one that came in my PC, so I occassionally have to reset it, otherwise the person I'm calling can't hear me. This may be due to my system, not the webcam, not sure. The picture display is not the best, but this may be due to my internet connection or system (5 1/2 yr old Toshiba laptop and Windows XP). Will see what happens when I get my new PC!

What's not so great: Camera is odd and hard to set up, and hard to position for stop motion filming, but not impossible.
I use this for amateur stop motion film making, so far it's worked well and is compatible with every program I've used.

When I started thinking about buying a web cam, I first remembered why I was getting it; to see someone who wasn't in the same room with me, and probably wasn't going to be able to see me every day. Therefore, I decided that I wanted to find a camera that would make it easy on MY viewer to be able to see ME.
How do I do that?
First, I had to get something easy to install. This web cam is virtually plug and play. I'm disabled and got it to work first try - if I can do it, anyone can; trust me.
Next, I wanted to get a web cam that had features that kept me from having to be a "director" of a show - I didn't want to continually focus; pan in or out; track my face if I moved around, etc. Check that off of my list with this camera.
Finally, I wanted a web cam with an integrated microphone - I didn't want to mess around with trying out how to plug in separate audio/microphone components to work with the web cam, like a headset, or stand alone microphone. Again, this web cam hit the mark.
Sure, there may be some less expensive web cams on the market, but at the end of the day, after I did my research, and checked online with all of the reviews on reliability, then decided that I only plan on buying one web cam every 3 or 4 years so if I pay an extra $10 or $20, the cost difference isn't that big a deal if you spread it out over time, this wasn't a big decision for me.
I guess there are just some things I think you shouldn't try to save money on; toilet paper, tires for your child's cars, and web cams that allow you to see loved ones.

What's not so great: Price is a tad high, but worth it for quality.
I needed a webcam and microphone to talk with my husband while he's deployed, since my laptop wouldn't cooperate. I found this webcam on Best Buy's website, saw the great reviews, ordered it and picked it up 25 minutes later at my local store. Once I got back home, I set it up and within 15 minutes (tops), it was up and working. (I have Windows XP, so I'm not sure if the same would hold true for other versions) Now, I am the last person to go to for computer help, and generally have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to technology. :P However, this webcam is SO easy to set up. Pop in the cd, plug in the cord, choose a few options from the menu that automatically pops up, and you're done. That's it. I was surprised! (and quite pleased with myself)
The video quality of this webcam is great. My apartment is semi-dark, and the lighting we have in here isn't that great. However, when I view my video sample, my room looks very light, and you can see everything perfectly. The picture is clear, no fuzziness. It's not laggy, and is perfect for use with Skype (that's what I'll be using it with). If you don't want to download Skype, this webcam also comes with it's own free video chat software, so there's another option for you.
I think my only complaint with this so far is the price, but then again, you get what you pay for. In a perfect world, this webcam's price would be a little lower, but if it means compromising on the quality I'm seeing, then I'll pay this price no problem. I'd rather have something that's a bit pricier and works great, than something that's cheaper and proves to be frustrating and a piece of garbage. When you're communicating with a loved one on the other side of the world...quality is what counts.
I'd just like to say that this is also my first webcam, so this is my first time installing/using anything of this sort. And if I can set it up and use it with no problem, then anyone can. Highly recommend!

What's not so great: Too expensive.
This is a great webcam. I purchased one for myself and have led three other people to buy one. However, I would wait until it is on sale or a rebate is offered. The standard retail price of $99 is too high.

This video camera combination mic is an excellent value. It does everything the manufacturer says and more. I would recommend this product to anybody wishing to set up video calling or podcasting. It is truly the best product in its price range.
