I am sick of writing about how well this budget priced projector performs. This thing ROCKS!!! Mitsubishi should be really proud of this machine as it rivals my Toshiba DLP and Sony 1080p LCD RPTV in picture quality. It does however look much better at night or in a low-lit room but it still looks dang good during the day w/ slight ambient light flowing in. I was really surprised at how good the contrast is on this thing especially when calibrated. Great color(even right out of the box), great contrast, great price. I have it showing on a 100 inch Elite screen and I truly have the quality of my own personal movie theater in the comfortable atmosphere of my home. The only thing that it's missing is a popcorn cart and fountain machine. If you're a movie geek or gamer you should think of shelling out the cash for this amazingly priced projector- it rivals machines that cost twice and three times as much......
What's great about it: Many
What's not so great: No Audio

This is my first projector I have bought so I tried to do alot of research and I kept coming back to this one. Everything I read about this Projector was that it out preformed alot of the more expensive models for picture quality and price so I bought it hoping all the hype was not just that hype. It did not dissapoint WOW! What a great picture I couldn't be happier. I am showing it on a wall I painted and even at 120" inches it has just as good a picture as my 56" inch Samsung. The High Def picture is just that High Def colors are bright and crisp black's are black nothing about this projector has dissapointed so far I would definatly reccomend this to anyone looking for a projector, alot of bang for a little money I got it as an open box item for $799.00 and couldn't be happier!!!
What's great about it: Great Picture Easy set up a great Price!
What's not so great: None so far! Maybe no sound outputs.

Being this was my first purchase into the home theater projection world, I was very inquisitive with all the different models, manufactuers, and features. At first I thought the more expensive, of course the better. Then I started going to the different retailers and seeing as many projectors as I could. Then I started reading reviews and doing endless searches over the internet for professional reviews. All together I was looking for over two months and really getting confused. The HC1500 features kept coming up alongside those projectors that cost twice or more the price. All the professional reviews kept it right up there. Finally I jumped in and couldn't be more pleased. I have a theater room with no exterior light source, and a self-built 124" screen. Of course all the shows come thru great with no lights. To my surprise, when I turned on the lights the display was just as clear and bright. I couldn't believe how great it actually was. Now, that is with HD DVD's and HD television. With regular dvd's the picture does get drowned out, but that is what I expected. Turn the lights out and no problem. Talk about being quiet!!! You have to stand under the projector to hear the fan running. I am estatic about this projector!! The quality, the cost, and ease of use are totally fantastic. Right out of the box it preformed admirably. The single HDMI input works well also, since I run everything through the receiver, which has four HDMI inputs, and the single lead out to the projector. If I could rate this 10+ I would, sorry, I'm limited to 5 only.
What's great about it: Extremely bright and clear, even with lights on. Quiet too!!
What's not so great: None

I've been wanting a projector for years! I finally found the perfect projector! The Mitsubishi HC1500 is currently the best projector one could ask for quality and price. I was lucky enough to catch this on sale but the full price would have been well worth it. I did SO MUCH research! I'm a 360 gamer and have the HD-DVD add on...and I plan on purchasing a PS3 later...so I really wanted a High Def projector.
I only had about a thousand dollar budget so that pretty much only left a few HD projectors to choose from. It came down to the Optoma HD70 or the Mitsubishi HC1500. The main reason I decided on the Mitsu was because of ProjectorCentral.com's review on both. While the HD70 received a decent review, it did require a bit of "tweaking" to get optimum quality...plus the HD70 has 10-bit color processing. The Mitsubishi HC1500 not only has 24-bit color processing, it received ProjectorCentral.com's Editor's Choice.
The set-up was so much easier than expected! I had my HC1500 up and running no more than 5 minutes out of the box. The default settings are awesome! Great picture without having to do anything! They did have the default on high power lamp and I switched it to low power and the picture is still phenomenal. You will need a dark room for best picture quality but I found that even having some ambient light, while using low lamp mode, worked great and still produced a great picture...I still recommend a dark room though.
Adjusting the picture size, the focus and keystone correction couldn't have been more simple. Any picture tweaking can easily be done as well, although I'm keeping the majority of my default settings.
The HD quality looks awesome! And you all won't believe what I'm projecting my image on...a white bedsheet....yes you heard that right...a bedsheet. My budget didn't allow for a screen at this time. I did some do it yourself research for screens and I found that some people actually use a bedsheet (although more use it for "outdoor" viewing. However, I prayed that a bedsheet would work for me and it did better than I could have imagined. The Mitsubishi HC1500 still gave a great crisp clear HD picture even on a bedsheet. If you go this route, you will need 3-4 layers of sheets so no light passes thru. With my throw distance, about 12 feet, I managed to get about a 93 inch picture...WOW!
I have a Samsung HDtv and I can honestly say that, in a dark room, the Mitsubishi HC1500 gave just as good and clear of a image it rivals my Samsung HDtv...even on a bedsheet...I can't wait till I get to see it on a screen! I have a 360 that doesn't have hdmi so I'm using component and it's still great! When viewing tv, it's best to have HD stations to watch but even if you don't have HD channels the picture is still comparable to a large screen projection tv.
I can't talk enough about how happy I am to have the projector! This is the coolest thing I've ever bought my entire life...and I owe it to my friend Mike that brought the Mitsubishi HC1500 to my attention...thanks Mike...love ya bro!
If you want an HD projector, this is the one for you! And even though you might find it "slightly" cheaper at some online sites, NOTHING beat the convience of just driving to Best Buy plus you KNOW you can count on Best Buy if there are any problems.
I'm so happy! I feel like I just bought a 93 inch HDtv for less than a 1,000 bucks!
What's great about it: Everything from set-up to picture quality!
What's not so great: Like all projectors, the less ambient light the better the picture...also, lamp replacement every 3000 hours of use.

By far one of the best projectors I have ever owned. I have owned the Optima HD70 and the Infocus IN74. Both are good projector, but the Mitsubishi 1500HC blow them both out of the water. The blacks, brightness, and colors are unbelievable (my room is a dedicated theatre room so I have no light nor windows). The picture still shines when there is little light on. I have DIRECTV HD, up convert DVD player, and a ps3 Blu ray connected to it. DVD looks good, but DIRECTV HD and Blu Ray has an amazing picture, even though it’s a 720 projector. Standard definition however doesn’t look all that great, its a very fuzzy picture. I am projecting about 110” at 15 feet away mounted on the ceiling. There is no lens shifting so you have to be precise in installing the projector, there is, however, key stoning, so you can correct the image. It does heat up fast so you must keep it in a ventilated area. The fan is a little bit loud at first but it fades away, and if you’re watching a movie it really wouldn’t matter. The menu is display is fantastic very easy to navigate. The remote control is also easy to use, the back light could be brighter though. Overall for the money, this is one of the best projectors out there.
What's great about it: Brightness, Black, Color, PRICE
What's not so great: No lens shifting, standared definition picture

I bought this projector and have been in love with it since. I have a fixed screen that I constructed and it works great with it. The projector is bright enough to be seen in my room without losing much clarity. It does perform best in a dark room, but it won't disappoint in the light. This is the first projector I have purchased and I will purchase a more expensive one as the technology improves, but 2007 and 2008 this one is the real deal. I would suggest that you get a 16:9 screen if you are connecting it to a HD source, otherwise the image is off the 4:3 screen. Later this year I will replace my fixed screen material with high contrast material and see if that further enhances my experience.
What's great about it: Great large clear picture in High definition
What's not so great: No sound from the projector

Bought this product based on reviews.
scene online for 899 went in store and ended up payn the 999.
Yea i didnt look till i got home oops.
Wish it was a 1080i but still is nice..
Oops i tossed out my other tv to quick.
Forgot this uses a lamp and will need to replace it probably sooner then later.
I am using low lamp hopefully it will last longer then 3000 hrs.
Yep i am using it alot.
Even during the day and at night with a light just off to the sit of the picture and still see images fine.
Of course in total darkness it looks real goood but all these types will look good in total darkness.
Use this for pc and directv hopefully i will be getting
my hd directv receiver soon...
What's great about it: Easy set up. light wieght. Works great in my condition.
What's not so great: maybe i will use it to much. No audio but not really a con.Cause it keeps it light wieght.

This is the first projector I have owned and decided on buying it on it's price for a HD picture. It's not 1080p, but the picture is still nice.
My main complaint about the projector is that there is no way to adjust the picture vertically or horizontally. The way the projector shoots the image makes it difficult to set it up and have the picture shoot where you want it. It's a good projector but there aren't enough ways to fine tune the picture.
The projector works best in nearly pitch black conditions. During the day, with only the light coming through the blinds, the picture quality is reduced significantly.
What's great about it: Great picture/Good price
What's not so great: No vertical/horizontal picture scaling

ive researched all the dlp projectors in the 899-1299 range and this one seemed to be a great fit for a home theater . i had it setup in my basement with the sony 3lcd bravia ( $899) and a nec gt 2150 ( $15,000) projector and the optoma dlp ( $1,299) .
the mistubishi hc1500 blew them all out of the water .
the contrast was far better than the 12000:1 rated lcd bravia , and the color is much better than the optoma . i wont even comment on the NEC .
picture quality on this projector is of the same as a $6,000 runco minus the scaler .
if your in the market and want the best bang for the buck this is it and it wont get much better till you hit the 3 dlp units .
What's great about it: excellent picture and small unit . super super quiet
What's not so great: there really arent any

This is my third projector in four years. (Nothing "wrong" with any of them... Just keep upgrading, using the others for something else..)
I had and InFocus and Sharp prior to this that both claimed higher "lumens output" than this model, and neither of them had as bright of a picture at the same size. This is the first model I've had that I could turn on the lights and still enjoy a 90" projected image.
The contrast ratio is 2500/10,000(dynamic) and it shows. The blacks are VERY dark for a front projector. Grey tones are excellant (Best if NOT used in ECO mode.)
I am currently using w/PS3 to play Blu-Ray content and PS3 games at 720p, and it looks excellant. The larger percentage of PS3 games are in 720p format so this works out just fine. This unit will down-convert 1080p to 720p without any problems (from what I see when setting the PS3 to 1080p(only)) Though best to leave in 720p. (However, there is said to be some HD content that requires 1080p, so it is good to know will downconvert if needed.
I had planned to buy a rear projection LED DLP (Samsung) TV (1080p) but just couldn't force myself to go with a smaller screen. Both my old projectors were 4:3 format, so I'll have to get/build a new screen to reflect the change, but I've projected on "Blackout cloth" for the last 4 years with no problem. (Other than getting dirty) May have to get a glass beaded 16:9 electric screen soon. :-)
Anyway, ... so far I'm loving this projector. I'll hold out a while longer (2 years or so) before I upgrade to a full 1080p front projector (Hoping they'll have a "good and bright" LED engine for front projectors by then.)
What's great about it: Bright, excellant contrast, easy to use.
What's not so great: Hrm... Would like 1080p for this price.. :-)

This is one of the best projectors on the market in this price range. The image quality will blow you away, especially with an HDMI source. It's also very bright and I have no problem seeing details in a moderately lighted room. The price is really the main selling point: it costs less than even the cheapest flat panel tvs and it can project a diagonal of 100''.
The main issue I have is the lack of a real audio out. Yes there's a headphone jack, but some component or optical audio outs would have been great. As it stands I can't get surround sound out of my Xbox 360 or some other inputs, which sucks because I paid thousands of dollars for my home theater setup. Overall though a good product.
What's great about it: Great image quality, bright, inexpensive
What's not so great: No real audio outputs!!!

This projector is a good projector for the price. It is bright enough to be matched well with a dark gray screen which you will want to make the black levels more competitive with more expensive units. It does need extensive gray scale calibration to make it look its best, but does a just ok job right out of the box. After gray scale adjustment (RGB contrast and brightness adjustments under the user color temp setting) this projector looks great. The clarity of the image is a little bellow more expensive units that have better lens and optic components, but all in all this is a good unit for the cost. I found that I have to sit about 11.5 to 12 feet from the screen to not see pixel structure and motion artifacts. I have it paired with a Samsung Blu Ray player and am very happy. Blu Ray movies(1080p) scaled down to 720p look alot better than regular DVDs(480p) scaled up to 720p. Just remember to pair it with a high contrast gray screen and have someone who knows how to calibrate gray scale and its other picture controls do it up right and you will have a gratifying movie experience.
What's great about it: Bright, user friendly.
What's not so great: Needs some grey scale tinkering to look its best.

PLaying xbox360 on it it even better. I highly recommened. It you hook up your xbox 360 AND do not have a hdmi reciever. Get the vga hd connector for best picture. It is worth the $39. I feel like i'm at the movies watching prison break season 2. The best picture is always achieved in a dark room.

I researched projectors for several months as we were going through the process of building a new home so that I could have the most economical home theater setup in our new home. I could not be happier with this projector, especially for the price. I took the projector out of the box and immediately had it hooked up to our DirecTV HD Receiver. Setup is easy and colors look great right out of the box. I've used the HDMI and Component inputs in 720p and both look fantastic. I have a PS3, an XBOX 360, a Wii, and DirecTV and they all look great on a 106 inch screen. Ambient light does provide a bit of a problem, but we have black out curtains in our home theater room and the image looks amazing at any time of day. A word of caution, however, is to make sure that your room dimensions are appropriate for this projector. Mitsubishi has a calculator on their website that can help you determine if this projector will work in your room -- I would highly recommend using it before making this purchase, especially if you plan on using a ceiling mount. I have a ceiling mount that is very short (less than a foot drop from the 9 foot ceiling) and it works perfectly. Overall I would recommend this projector to anyone as an excellent alternative to a smaller, more expensive DLP or LCD TV. The picture quality is excellent and I have no complaints thus far.

I am now a proud new owner of a HC1500 Mits Projector and am very happy with it. I spent a little over 6 months researching and found that this model was the best bang for the buck. Then I waited and BestBuy had the best deal. The projector was very easy to setup for me. 1. Open box remove projector 2. Connect wires. 3. Turn on and enjoy. It is bright enough for some shaded day watching but you really need to shut the lights off to get its best effect. I currently have connected all the inputs I can find; composite, component, HDMI, s-vid, and they all worked flawlessly. It has handled my HDTV transmissions from the cable box very well with little or no noise. Please note that the zoom on the lens is a small range so placement of the projector to the screen needs to be accurate and far. Overall, I would not trade this projector for anything. Now is a good time to buy because BestBuy is including a free 84' screen.

I installed this projector in my home theater and the picture clarity at 10' with 720p resolution was great, the BrilliantColor made the picture tone and color perfect right out of the box. The 1600 lumens of brightness is more then enough for me to have the room lit and still play video games and watch movies. And the HDMI input was what i was looking for in my theater setup.
