I'm In Love With This Washing Machine!!!05/02/2009

What's great about it: Super large capacity, Clothes get really clean, Saves water & electricity What's not so great: NOTHING!
"I bought this washer and the matching steam dryer about 6 weeks ago. I AM IN LOVE! I did not purchase the steam washer b/c I prefer to wash our clothes in cold water, so the steam would not benefit me. I got the steam dryer b/c I wanted to "steam" our dry clothes to get the wrinkles out, but I have since learned that's not the way it works! I would recommend just getting the regular dryer. I love the large capacity of this washer. I had to have a big one, so I could wash our king size comforter. Haven't tried that yet, but I have washed sheets and blankets, and it's great. You can wash as much as would be 3 loads in a top loading washer, which I love. Now I only do one load of clothes and one load of sheets/towels a week. This is huge for saving on your water and electricity bills. Also gives me more family time. You use very little detergent, so it seems that my container of detergent is lasting forever! Clothes come out very clean and fresh. I especially love the sanitizing cycle, which I use for sheets. Also, you can load up your washer and then set it to wash later, so I set it to wash right before I get home in the afternoon, so then all I have to do is put the freshly washed clothes into the dryer. I have read where others have complained about leaving the door open, but I didn't read anything in my manual about leaving the door open, except after you do a "tub clean". Oh yes, I decided to stack these in order to have more space in my laundry closet, and I love it! They are a little tall, but I'm short and don't have a problem reaching the controls. I have a stepping stool closeby, but so far haven't had to use it. Also, with them stacked, I don't have the problem that I did before with things falling behind the machine and having to crawl back there and try to get stuff out. I would have loved to have had the "tango red" color, but the steam dryer was sold out in that color, and I wanted them to match. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase."

"We replaced an old Maytag front loader and couldn't be happier. The washer can vibrate if you don't have it completely level, and there is also a setting you can change so it is not noisey. Has slightly longer wash times but you can also use the quick wash cycle. There are so many choices and you can create your own setting to accomodate your most used cycle. If you are buying your first front loader you will notice a lower water bill and your dryer time will be reduced as well. This is a great washer."

"I did a great deal of research before deciding on the LG washer and dryer and I wasn't really sure if I wanted front load units. However, after purchasing the washer and dryer (and pedestals) I couldn't be happier. I washed two king size blankets and a set of king size sheets with no problems and they dried the first time. I haven't had any problems with the washer being unbalanced and the units are so quiet - you can't hear them and the laundry room is right outside the master bedroom. I am completely satisfied with the purchase. The washer cleans the clothes better than my old one (especially removing dog hair from our clothes/blankets - we have 6 dogs) and the dryer does a fantastic job of removing any additional dog hair that made it through the wash. Some reviewers have complained about the long wash cycles but since you can do more laundry in each load, it really works out to be about the same. There's even a quick wash cycle that is basically the same length of time as my old washer and if the clothes aren't that dirty, I recommend using this to speed things along."

"This washer is great it holds a large amount of clothes and washes them just reecntly got it so I havent noticed the musty smell others were talking about. The only thing I recommend is take the time to make sure it is completely level otherwise it is really loud like other people have been saying. My husband went and leveled it before we washed and then again during spin cycle cause it was rocking alot but after he leveled it it works great and is quiet. I couldnt ask for a better washer. In fact I am buying the matching dryer today. Also I really recommend the pedastals they are such a back saver and best buys warranty they will really take care of you. I will let you know how it goes with the dryer"

What's great about it: Extra Large Loads Cuts down on time spent on Laundry What's not so great: Leaving Door Open
"Bought the set 1 month ago and no regrets so far. Large washer = large loads have cut laundry time down to a couple of hours instead of all day!! Wasn't going to buy a new washer just need a dryer as our old amana gave out and was taking over an hour to just dry the clothes. After readng reviews both on BB and ther sites and doing some research we decided to bite the bullet and go for the matching pair. So glad we did! The load sensor lets you know the size of the load and so far I have not filled the machine up The most it has been has been 3 bars full. Even with 2 sets K size sheets and all of the towels ( have 2 teenagers) so we have alot of towels on laundry day because I only do laundry once a week. The wash time is long, can be close to an hour but remeber you are doing 3 or 4 times the amount of laundy in one load compared to a top load washer. So the seems right. Dry time for that amount of clothers at best is 43 minutes. I have had no problem with the set yet. Have a friend who bought the samsung pair because of the vrt tech. but has had a repairman out the first week because the dryer didn't dry all the clothes. The first time the washer went into spin mode it walked out of the laundry room closet, but hubby checked level and we ran a few more spin cycles, the first one at full speed and then reduced speed back down and no problem. No vibration problem and so far no smelly problems that I have read about front loaders from other people's comments. No Sudsing issues either. Just make sure you read your book about the amount of HE to use..Use correctly and 1 bottle will last a long time. Price was pretty good, holiday weekend sale and set sale so paid 1600.00 but we should see a difference in electric bill compared to the old set Leaving door open so washer and seal will dry out is probadly the only negative so far but is no biggie. I also pull out the dispenser tray and drain it and let it set on top after all laundry is done, realy not a big deal. Little maintenance and hopefully will be a good sellig point when we go to sell the house. Now all appliances have been updated. If I had not been happy with the set I would have had no problem returning them to the store, kept the old washer and the boxes for the new set for 3 weeks before I let them go just to be sure! Originally was looking to buy the WM2016 but not in stock so went for the next washer up, so larger but more $$ but so fas so good. Don't mind doing laundry now it doesn't take long. Go for it !!"

What's great about it: Large capacity, cleans great, overall it's quiet, way less water usage What's not so great: a little noisy with the vibrations at the end of the cycle when the spin kicks in; but it's worth it, dry time is awesom
"Wonderful machine! So glad I trusted the reviews (here and across the net) about this washer and the LG brand as a whole. Overall it takes longer to wash a load of clothes compared to our old Maytag standard machine. But this LG uses much less water, is super quiet compared to the old one, cleans much better and holds way more clothes. The only little tiny issue is that on the final spin cycle, when it ramps up to like 1200 rpm, it can get to vibrating pretty good. But actually once the machine settled on the floor after about a week, it's less noisy and vibrates less."

What's great about it: It stacks, has a quick wash, works as well as I expected it to. It is quiet, but not silent. What's not so great: Having to wipe the washer seal after every wash, and having to leave the door open (not possible in a small space).
"Have a small laundry closet, so the decision was very much based on size, mainly depth. This was the more expensive model than we had selected, but Best Buy had stopped stocking the 2233 in White and there is no way I was having dark green! I was not thrilled at spending over $2,000 on a washer and dryer, along with tax, delivery, etc.. but it certainly gets my husband's soccer kit and gym clothes clean. I also like the quick wash and the fact that I am using less water overall. It is just the two of us so no huge loads of towels, no daily washes etc.
Having said that - it claims all sorts of wonderful capabilities, so I threw in two queen fitted sheets and two cotton duvet covers at once, plus shams, just to see. It did not fill with water enough to really slosh them around properly - I found a face cloth in there too, still folded up neatly after the wash! The dryer (5596) couldn't handle the same load size to dry efficiently (or might have done in three hours!). But both washer and dryer handle smaller/medium loads just perfectly and I am generally very happy.
Overall a good buy, let's hope it lasts as long as the reliable, 20-year old Maytag that we just replaced."

"We've never had a front-loader before and I think there was a little learning curve for us, but we quickly figured out what works best for us. We needed to start using liquid fabric softener instead of dryer sheets, but that might be due to the hard water in our area. We couldn't be happier though with our new machine. It is so quiet while running and instead of an annoying buzzer sound when the wash cycle is done, it plays a happy little tune that has everyone in the house running to hear! Oh and we love, love, love the "sanitary" setting. With little kids, it's a must have!"

"Owned 6 mos. It really cleans cloths well and holds a large volume of wash. I really have to pack the cloths in for the capacity sensor says full. It has cut my laundry loads down considerably. You have to purchase the stands otherwise it can be a back breaker. It does vibrate when spinning so we bought the anti-vibration pads so it wouldn't travel around the room. There was a slight decrease in my water and energy bills but not as much as I hoped. I really dislike the way your clean cloths fall on the floor when unloading. I bought the matching gas dryer but wish I had bought a dryer with a pull down door. My w/d are in the mud room between my garage and kitchen and fairly well traveld so I wanted a matching set. If I hadn't it would have saved me about $300+.
I also noticed that my dryer produced a lot less lint. I'm hoping this is because the washer is gentler on my cloths."

"My son and I are big guys. Equals big clothes that take up space. I love this washer!!! Upon buying it the repair guy was there and showed me how well its built. All boards are sealed in a jell to prevent corrosion. Motor design is like that of Hunter ceiling fans. Unit on all scales more quiet than my old one. I stacked the units to save space . Worked out great. The only thing is I'm 6' the opening is a little low for my liking but no biggie. The clothes seem cleaner than ever."

"I debated between purchasing a front loader and a top loader (which I have always had in the past). After researching different brands, styles and reviews, we purchased this washer. I am so pleased with the load capacity and how quiet this machine is. My queen comforter was a breeze to put in and take out. It uses very little water, but our clothes seem clean and fresh smelling. We have only had this machine for a week, so I am not sure how much my water bill will go down, but every little bit helps."

"This unit performed better than my family anticipated. It runs much quieter than expected and when properly installed by delivery personnel the spin vibration is no worse than my previous unit. "I purchased this washer along with a steam dryer a couple months ago. I was very impressed with the washer in store and hoped that the design would help reduce wear and tear on my clothes. Unfortunately I found that this did not do as well as I had hoped. The small holes in the drum often catch on small clothing details and even smaller zippers. The amount of wear and tear on my clothes as been reduced by moving to this washer, but not by much. I still find that my clothes are wearing out much faster than they should. I have softend water and multiple water filters due to allergies, so it is not an issue of hard water or sediment. I do like many of the features the washer has to offer and do believe that it was a good purchase over-all. In the future I might be interested in looking into the Samsung washer which has a diamond shaped tub that is supposed to further reduce wear and tear on clothing."

"I have had this machine for 2 months, I wanted to use it for a decent amount of time before writing a review. I have noticed that our clothes are a lot cleaner than with the top loader. I use the sanitary setting for our whites and no longer need bleach. Other reviewers say they can wash king size comforters this didn't work for me. I had to stuff it in and when I took it out it was still dry in some spots and it was ripped. So I would not recommed that. My king size blankets fit and wash fine. I have no problem with oder, I always leave the door and detergent cup open after each load to dry. It does seem to be energy effecient, my water bill was less then expected. I have the matching dryer and that is great too. We are very satisfied with this machine."

"We have had this washer for a month and we started with about fifteen loads the first week to catchup from not going to the laundrymat. I hope this info helps narrow your search for a washer. First, I am a very discriminating consumer and I hold the manufacturer to all their claims as to what the product will and will not do. This washing machine is terrific and it has all the features that my household could possible need. It handles the different size loads while conserving water and energy and getting everything very clean. When you take the clothes out to put in the dryer the clothes are almost dry because this machine has a spin cycle the gets all the water out, thus reducing the drying time considerably. My whife is the one that uses this washer but I am the one that did all the research. She said I did an great job and found an excellant product. I agree."

"My wife and I have owned this and the matching dryer for about 6 months. We have had zero issues since the day we got them. It cleans clothes great, we have seen a noticeable difference in our water bill, and go through less detergent by following the recommended amounts. We have always had great luck with LG and this was no exception."
