I wasn't overly impressed with the performance but it's adequate. It's not thumping so loud as to shake anyone's pictures off the wall but you can hear a reasonable amount of bass.

This is an amazing Sub-Woofer for the Price.
I have custom built my system with 55-inch Samsung LED, Onkyo Receiver, POLK Audio Speakers and A Sony Sub-Woofer.

this subwoofer is awesome for the price. I replaced my woofer which was not self powered with Sonys self-powered and it is fantastic. It makes all the difference in the surrond sound when watching a movie it literally makes you feel that your in it. great price, great bass and well worth the money.
BUY IT
What's great about it: the bass sound is great you really get into a movie where the bass makes a difference.
What's not so great: the wood encasement 60s look , could be made to look more to the times. But don't let that stop you from buying this gem

worth the investment -- this is not, overpowering, earth-shattering bass. just the right amount based on the system volume and sound setup options your receiver offers -- sub kicks in when needed and goes into standby when not.
What's great about it: 'Sound' Value for the buck
What's not so great: that all Best Buy Stores do not stock this Item......not everyone wants a subwoofer to shake walls

Great sub for a good price. I had a $30 rewards certificate with a $50 gift card and additional 12% off electronics coupon, so it didn't cost me anything for the sub. That was the main factor for purchasing this. I also needed something simple and easy for my apt. I never crank it up because I'm in an apartment but it has good bass response. Not too cumbersome when it comes to spatial design. My only gripe is the power save function. If you leave it on it will click on and off depending whether the show/commercial has a bass feed in it. If you turn it off, it will stay on ALL the time, no matter if the receiver is turned off.This probably has to do with my receiver setting, so it's a combination.

At first I was not a believer! I strongly believe in "you get what you pay for". Until I bought this sub and first hooked it up. I listened to a bunch of subs in the store and sure you can get ones that are louder and more powerfull...for $600...why would you want to do that? This sub has a clean look, lots of fine tuning options, and sound that delivers! If you want a sub that will shock you and sound GREAT without breaking the bank....seriously this is it! Do it!

If you want to hear and feel your bass at key moments then do not buy this subwoofer. In my opinion this subwoofer is only good if you need something present in general. It is hard to explain how it sounds... fork over the extra money for quality product. Returning this heap today!

This price was as low as others had it for on the internet so I went to best by instead of waiting for it to be shipped. It works better then I expected with my surround in my large bedroom and I think it would work well in a large living room as well. You can't loose with this powered subwofer and the price is awesome. Get this sub and fully enjoy your music and movies!!!! Thanks BestBuy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall this is a very good sub-woofer. The only complaint I have is that the power switch is on the rear of the cabinet which makes it extremely difficult to turn off and on because I have the unit underneath our computer table.

I went from 2 old school pioneer 12" speakers to a couple of Polk bookshelf speakers and this sub. Honestly I wasn't going to upgrade and didn't think I needed to but I had some reward zone certificates that I had to use so I went for it. I am glad I did because this made a much larger difference than I thought it would. The bass is a lot louder and a lot cleaner. I was going to put the old speakers in the garage but now I am thinking of just getting another one of these.
What's great about it: Clean look, compact size, easy to dial the bass to your taste
What's not so great: Wish the wire was longer

We recently bought a house that had built-in surround sound but for whatever reason it didn't have a sub woofer. Since I purchase most of my electronics from Best Buy I decided to go there first. This sub woofer is the bet I have had. It rattles the floor and the windows if you turn it up loud enough. If you are looking for a real good sub woofer, this is it.

I had recently bought the new Insignia 6.5 inch sub-woofer because my local Best Buy was out of stock with this model. While the Insignia gets points for its low profile and small size, it turns out that my receiver only has tape-outs, which don't change in volume as you raise and lower the volume on the receiver. After a day of having to manually change the volume up and down I returned the Insignia and went to a Best Buy about 45 minutes away to buy this Sony- and it was $5 cheaper than the Insignia!.
All I can say is WOW- this sub is amazing! I have it paired with a Sony 100 W x 2 receiver and the truly amazing Insignia 6.5 inch bookshelf speakers, and the overall sound is delightful. The key was to first set the bass and treble for the bookshelf speakers to get them to their best sound, and then turn on this sub and bring it just up to the point where the bass fills in. Too low and there is no change in sound quality; too high and this sub easily overpowers the other speakers. Find the sweet spot, and suddenly your music will sound like it never has before. This sub is very tight- not boomy or muddy at all. When a deep note hits you feel the bass almost as much as you hear it, but it;s very tight and accurate. My only complaint (and it's a minor one) is that I don't like the bass port being on the back of the sub, It probably sounds better since the bass fires off the wall and reflects back out, but since I'm living in an apartment building I have to keep the volume down so that it doesn't rattle my neighbor's room. If the port faced forward the bass would have more room to spread out and dissipate a bit before hitting a wall. Great value for the price, these seem to be hard to come by so get one if you can!
What's great about it: Tight sound, multiple connection options
What's not so great: I'd prefer a front firing bass port vs the rear one
