It's not ALL bad...05/15/2008
By Sippixfrom Dallas, TX
What's great about it: Many Side-Quests, Character Micromanagement, Great Skills, Vast Exploration, Potion Creation What's not so great: Low FPS, Thin Storyline, Crude Targeting System, Aged Graphics, Bad Voice Acting, Average-Quality Sounds, Game Freeze
"When I first started playing, I was confused about what my next step should be. It's a good idea to read the owner's manual about the different menus, because once you get used to the Quest Log/Map System, you'll be getting around great.
I found myself delving into the side-quests much more than the actual main storyline. The main quests are a lot of, "Go here, talk to him," type of goals. However, the side-quests involve a lot of fighting and have entertained me far more.
The equipment drops are useful, and seem to be scaled to your level. The ability to stack the same types of items to upgrade their class makes for powerful weapons, armors and rings. You can also embue a weapon with elemental properties from stones, which adds additional damage.
Alchemy is great, and ingrediants can be obtained from hunting/gathering. There are both timed and perminant effect potions to be created.
Magic is interesting, and well-done. The visual effects are great and there are different "classes" of magic you can use. The ability to stack magic spells and magic spell boosters allows for some powerful forces.
Horseback riding is a severe pain when trying to turn, and fight. Even though you can attack on horseback, it's very cumbersome and leaves you very vulnerable. I'd recommend a horse for the extra storage and quick movement, but leave it alone when you're feeling froggy.
The character developement is very well done, yet simple enough for anyone to understand. You can upgrade attributes and skills in any fashion you want. You can also learn unlocked skills from certain NPC's.
The quality of the sound effects are a bit sub-par for NexGen gaming. There's plenty of ambience, the soundtrack is decent, but doesn't hold continuity for the game. The voice actors hold absolutely no emotion, and sound VERY amateur. Half my entertainment came from mocking the voice acting, which is actually bad enough to be comical.
My largest complaint are the random game freezes. SAVE OFTEN! You could play for hours without a freeze, and sometimes just a few minutes. This is the only reason I would not recommend this game to a friend.
In all, this is a decent AVERAGE game. It's not spectacular, but it is worth the price for a rental to decide if it's your cup of tea. Give it a couple hours of consistant play before really deciding. After about the first 9 or 10 levels, you're able to experience a lot more."

ITS OK03/22/2008

What's great about it: CUSTOMIZABLE CHARACTER What's not so great: TOO LONG, ONLINE TOO SLOW, VOICE ACTING
"THIS IS AN OVERALL OK GAME. THE VOICE ACTING IS TERRIBLE, BUT THE FACT THAT U CREATE EVERYSINGLE ASPECT OF YOUR CHARACTER IS VERY COOL. CRITICS SAY ITS OBLIVION ON STERIODS.... ITS REALLY NOT. ITS AN OK GAME BUT OBLIVION IS WAY BETTER THEN THIS. THE MAP IN THIS GAME IS GIGANTIC, WHICH IS TO EVERYONES DISADVANTAGE BECAUSE ITS HARD TO GET AROUND, RIDING HORSES IS ALSO IMPOSSIBLE IN THIS GAME SO GETTING AROUND PRETTY MUCH CUTS DOWN TO WALKING, EVEN THO THERE ARE TELEPORTERS WALKING IS STILL A PAIN, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS UNLESS U LIKE WASTING UR TIME WITH NON-NEXT REN GAMES."

Run away from this game as fast as you can02/27/2008

What's great about it: none What's not so great: The fact that somebody wasted their time creating this game
"If you've put any thought into buying this game your better off throwing the $50 in the trash and saving yourself the frustration. The way of fighting is just unimaginative and the characters have no personality. I tried three different times to get into to this game and just found it impossible. First of all because their seems to be no storyline whatsoever, and secondly because the fighting in the game is so terrible that you can't get further than 5 minutes into it before dying. I went to my usual video game store to trade it in, they offered me a whopping $8 for it. Then the woman at the store told me if I had gone there in the first place that anyone there would have told me what a horrible waste of money this game is. It doesn't even deserve the one star I gave it for a rating."

Great RPG that some will love others hate01/28/2008
By Hellsing
What's great about it: Good magic system, good length, customizble skills, What's not so great: framerate, voice acting, soundtrack,
"First let me say DO NOT compare this to oblivion if you want to compare it to something compare it to morrowind and diablo. You WILL hate this game the first hour or two of playing. If you can make it past that you will start to enjoy it alot more.
Graphics: 7/10 Spell effects are nice but the graphics are not very good which I don't understand why the framerate suffers.
There is alot of draw problems with tree's and grass popping up randomly. Some bland textures.
Gameplay: 8/10
You start out only knowing a few skills but as you progress you eventually learn dozens.
The magic system is really well done. You can get cards which are called boosters that do different things to your spells such as amplifying to making them use less mana.
Melee is another option with the ability to learn dual wield and other skills such as dirty tricks that let you kick dirt in your opponents eye's.
Archery is an other way to go. I admit I have not really done anything with archery. But there are skills that let you shoot multiple arrows, shoot through armor and the like.
There is a thing called alchemy in the game which allows you to get random plants and animal parts and make potions and its a blast to use. You can make potions that give permanent stat boosts so its in your best interest to learn how to use it.
Also if you have 2 of the same items you can stack them to make a more powerful single item which is helpful.
Sound:5/10 The low point for me was this games sound.
The soundtrack is more annoying than anything, and for the most part it doesn't fit with whats going on. Thankfully you can use your custom soundtracks.
The voice acting is just bad. As others have pointed out its like being in a LARPERS fair.
Get ready to hear forsooth and mayhap alot. I don't know why they had to do that but it fails.
Sound effects aren't horrible but they are just so so.
Story 7/10
Cliche to say the least. Your sister gets kidnapped by stupid looking guys that want you to open a tomb for the orc god. So you will find yourself working for them. It's really stupid thankfully there are side quests which help ease the pain.
Overall its a good game no scaled leveling and it at leas helps fill the void of xbox 360 rps. It wont be a classic but if you can get over the sound you can really enjoy it.
8/10"

Terrible01/05/2008
By capn134from Sedalia CO.
What's great about it: Big world? Uhhh maybe I quit before I found out. What's not so great: Everything about it.
"Within 20 minutes of playing this game I was done; bored, confused & a little upset about the $60 price tag of it. The menu & inventory options of the character is confusing, the story, acting & dialog of the people is the worst sort of unimaginative tripe imaginable & the combat is the worst part about the whole thing. You have a choice in your combat moves....slash...& then... slash...again...no specialized moves like a true swordsman would have not to mention the combat is slow paced & looks like the cheap robot animals from Chuck y Cheese when your going at it. I'm usually fairly open minded & lenient with games but trust me...AVOID THIS AT ALL COST"

By Phrost261from somewhere on Earth
What's great about it: nothing What's not so great: the whole game
"Before this game came out I heard all the hype about this game. They claim this is the game of the year, better then elder scrolls 4. I have elder scrolls 4 and I was like this is going to be a good game. I was wrong. This game is terrible the dialog is horrible the fight scenes are dumb you cant switch from 1st to 3rd person. they said big world to explore an everything.. I just didnt care for the game. If you are thinking about elder scrolls 4 or this game go with elder scrolls game. You wont be sorry."

What's great about it: Decent Graphics.. Lots to Explore What's not so great: Repition, Low Replay Value.. too Easy
"This game looked to be a Great New replacement for those who play Oblivion.. The combining of objects seemed cool at first, but its to compinsate for the lack of content.. Dungons are weak, and small.. Story line is ok.. Money better spent on other games.."

What's great about it: fighting What's not so great: little confusing, too much like oblivion
"if you're looking for a good roll playing, open ended game, Two worlds is pretty good. i had very high hopes for it when i got it just because i was such a fan of Oblivion. graphics are great, but the dialogue is BRUTAL. infact its completely horrible. i don't know half the story line because it sounds SO BAD. it's really pathetic! besides the fighting...oblivion blows this game away. j/ keep playing oblivion and save yourself some money."

"This game just takes some time to get into. Is it as good as Oblivion? No. But it is a very fun game if you give it a chance. Lots to kill including dragons. Has a lot of faults (such as boring quests) but it's really fun just to run around and explore."

Greatest...Disater09/20/2007
By MasterDeathfrom Chester, VA
"The game of tomorrow we heard and what we found was something beyond measure one of the more faulty titles to the 360. I have made a small comparision with the pros and cons of the game to kinda get both sides. Pros- The idea of Online Multiplayer in Fantasy Rpg Great Item System
Cons- Horrible Lag leading to fustrating play in EVERY match Awful character mouthing as in NPC actually looking like they are talking Way too formal in dialogue lots of thous also no emotion in charater speech Grahpics=Terrible for this "next gen game"
This game has so much it could have done to improve on mianly the simple things it seems that this was a rushed title and that not much time was truley put into it and sadly i must say i dont expect the company to make a large profit from this game."

Two Words ain't the best09/16/2007
By Lackyfrom Linocln, NE
"Well, the game was compared to one of the BEST RPGs of all time. Does it stack up? No, its a good distraction, but with all the great games coming out, I'd pass on this one.
The storyline it self takes maybe 8 hours max. The side quests are numerous but not very enjoyable. I did put in about 22 hours in this game, but after that, I doubt I will ever replay it.
This is a rental at best. Graphics are alright, but not up to today standards, the voice acting is one worth PATHETIC. Multiplayer has no Servers, so the host better have a nice connection. I run a 9MB connection and when I hosted a 2 player match, the lag was still HORRIBLE>"

Decent RPG09/14/2007
By yoyoclownfrom Htown
"This game recieves some poor ratings and I don't know why. The game was very good, with some very interesting RPG elements. If you are looking for graphics and great voice overs, don't play a console RPG. The game is definately a minimum 3 stars, but I gave it 4. The item system is fun. The spell system is fun. You can endlessly and cheaply reset your character stats to recreate yourself into any type of warrior. You can try everything and really enjoy the game. There are a couple of do's and dont's, but that's how RPGs work."

Two Worlds Fails to Shine09/14/2007
By Soccermark23from New Hampshire
"I was really looking forward to the release of Two Worlds. Following in the footsteps of Oblivion, this game had the potential to be one of the great games in the XBox 360 lineup, however it failed to deliver. The graphics were very shotty and I often had trouble with the audio during cut-scene interaction between characters. This did nothing but to detract from the game. I will say that the weapon and item system worked well, being able to combine similar weapons and armor made for a number of high powerful swords, axes, etc. Overall I would recommend that if you want this game, you wait a few months for it to drop in price to about $20."

Kind of iffy09/14/2007
By basscaptainfrom Morehead City, NC
"I honestly enjoyed the multi player aspect of this game. I habitualty play online with a friend every night (ever since halo 2) and we began to play this game. There is just a bunch of random stupid things you can do in it... I.E we had a party of 8 friends and we played a hide and go seek variants, lol. But other than that i havent even touched the single player aspect of this game. It does tend to get very dull after the 1,000 Grom you have killed or the 100,000,000 wolf or bore... i would say rent this game if you play alot online with friends, other than that you will find it hard to enjoy this game"

Not that good...09/12/2007
By Xygnus
"This was a waste of money to me honestly. This game doesn't seem to be complete, and if this is honestly how the developers wanted it to be then they are horrible and shouldn't continue making games. Multiplayer aspect of it could have been really fun, you can get really powerful way to fast and become gosu. It gets boring right after that happens. Single player isn't to bad but how the game runs pretty much ruins it for me. It's hard to even play it on multiplayer."

Worth the money.09/09/2007
By Sicarious
"I'll admit that this game's graphics aren't all that great most of the time, and there are more glitches than a game should have, but it is still a fun game to play. The combat and magic systems are very simple but also entertaining. I was also a bit dissapointed with the choppy framerate and the lackluster voice acting. All cons aside, this game has a decent amount of play value and it has the addicting quality that an RPG should have. Not the greatest game in the world, but definitely worth the purchase."
