What's great about it: I don't have to sweep
What's not so great: Pushes around smaller items like floor vent guides and potted plants
Bought one of these for my mom for xmas and bought one for myself at the same time. Really like it. It does the floors around the house while I do something else. I still waste quite a bit of time with it just because I like to watch it. I use the sensors to do half a room at a time for bigger rooms and just let it go in the smaller rooms. I have all wood and vinyl floors and it works wonderfully at my house. Quiet, too. Always hated dusting, sweeping and mopping. One down and two to go!

What's great about it: It's pretty thorough and saves me time
What's not so great: Takes about 45 min to do our bedroom /LR, can get stuck and will spend time going back over already cleaned areas.
My Roomba works really great and I really am glad we got it. Although I thought the price was a bit high, we decided to go ahead and get it and although it doesn't replace a regular vacuuming, it does a really great job. I was amazed at how much dirt/debris it does pick up. I love how it can go under sofas, tables, and beds. I have a rocker-type chair in the living room that the Roomba gets stuck under, so I've learned to just put books around it so it will turn around and go in another direction. I can get the Roomba going while I dust and clean bathrooms--saves me all kinds of time! My rating is really about a 4 and a half stars. Five stars would mean the price would be about $50 less and the machine didn't spend time going back over places it already cleaned. I'm a huge fan!

Used it maybe 20 times. Loved it. Then it stopped working correctly (just spun in circles) and I was slow about getting it resolved. By the time I finally got an answer back, it was: "We have determined that your robot needs to be replaced and you are out of warranty. Please give us your phone # so we can call you." You think I'm going to buy another one of these overpriced pieces of garbage? And that I'm giving you my # so you can telemarket me? Fat chance.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Easy! Push one button and your house is clean!
What's not so great: It won't do dishes or laundry :(
For a busy family the iRobot is one of the greatest household inventions ever! We have allergies and are extremely busy so this vacuum is invaluable to us. Before we would have a hard time vacuuming our house once a month. Now we can clean it daily with the push of a button! Of course it doesn't have the cleaning power of a quality upright, but that is completely offset by the fact that YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO A THING to keep your floors clean. Let it run once every few days and your floors will be way cleaner than you could ever keep them by vacuuming yourself, unless you enjoy doing it daily. It will thoroughly clean a few large rooms before the batteries run out, then it will find the charger on it's own and then dock and re-charge for the next cleaning. Unless your house is extremely dirty or you have a lot of pets that shed you won't have an issue with the dirt chamber filling up before the batteries run out. By the way it is VERY quiet for a vacuum cleaner. Also the kids love watching it at work, our 3 year old thinks it is very funny.

What's great about it: Easy to set up, interesting to see it learn, cleans well.
What's not so great: Battery life is a little limited while it learns the room pattern, better when it knows where to go.
This Roomba actually learns as it goes! While it only can learn 3-4 rooms, we just hit the reset button and move it upstairs so it can clean there, too!

What's great about it: Its great to have my home always look as though I have spent hours vacuuming
What's not so great: Finding a place for the docking port so that it does not stand out.
I turn it on each morning and go off to work. When I get home at night my carpets, wooden floor and mats look great. It is able to wiggle out of any tight spaces or from under any piece of furniture. It is better to forget it and just let it move itself around a room, just make sure that the floor areas is clear of as many obstacles as you can. Each evening, I empty the catch and clean the brushes ready for the next morning. I have pets so this is necessary for me to do after each clean while the Roomba recharges. I still like to run my big vacuum around once a week as i have the Roomba set-up to only go around the main living area, kitchen and halls. I close off the bedrooms as they don't tend to get so much traffic. I am going to purchase another one just for the main bedroom, closet and bathroom. Great product!

What's great about it: Fun robot vacuum cleaner made a terrific gift.
What's not so great: Annoys the cats
Fun and entertaining robotic vacuum cleaner also works great. Fun to watch with pets, and the good part of that, you get to WATCH. Roomba does the work. Loved being able to purchase online and pick up the same day for a Christmas eve present opening that night. See the many fun videos on YouTube. Some cats actually ride Roomba.

What's great about it: It has significantly cut down the time I spend on my floors.
What's not so great: Nothing
I am so pleased with the roomba. I've wanted one for about 3 years, but figured such an item must be to good to be true. After much research I caved and am soooo glad that I did. We have a 1200 sq ft home with all hardwood floors. It keeps about a 90 min battery life. It will go over the whole house for a "light" cleaning or I can do two seperate cleanings. I use it every day, which is recommended, and my floors have not been cleaner. Even my husband, who thought this was a silly purchase is amazed at how much it picks up. Just when you think it couldn't possibly find any more debris go ahead and let it go another round! LOVE this little guy!! The only thing that would make it better is if it was a little shorter to go underneath even more furniture, but I'm not complaining. I highly recommend!!

What's great about it: Easy set up, easily maintained, great performance
This is a fantastic product. I received this as a gift for Christmas, and I am already more than thrilled with its performance after using it only a few times. We have a white-haired cat that sheds constantly. Before I got the Roomba, I would vaccuum our family room nearly every day. Now, I simply program the Roomba, and set myself to other things while the Roomba does the work. This thing is incredible. It get into corners, moves along walls, moves between tables and table legs, picks up pet hair like crazy, and it DOESN'T chew up electrical cords as it moves along. You can set parameters so that the Roomba will not go near things like Chrismas trees or, in my case, drum sets, and the Roomba will simply avoid them. You can also program the unit to vaccuum when you are away, and it will do the job. When it is finished, it will simply return to it charging base and shut down. I would not have believed this, if I had not seen it for myself. Trust me, this is an excellent investment. If you value your time, and you want you home to be kep clean, this is difinately the machine for you. One fantastic product.

What's great about it: Vacuums the whole room, hallway, next room, even over rugs.
What's not so great: It is to be kept plugged in all the time, even when storing it, to prolong the battery life.
It vacuums the whole room, goes off into the next room and hallway, doesn't miss a spot. It even goes over area rugs, around furniture, toys, cords, and cats that don't move out of the way. It's awesome! Does a much better job than my teenagers do. It's a snap to clean it afterwards, make sure you get all the threads and hair off the rollers. The only thing I have a problem with is our cats like to go over and push the button to start it which is a problem if we don't have the virtual walls up as we also have stairs. Great buy!

We have had our Roomba for 3 weeks now and we love it. My son had rather watch it vacuum the house than play video games. It was great over Thanksgiving week. It cleaned the house for me while I cooked. I'm buying everyone in my family one for Christmas!!!

What's great about it: Picks up more dirt than regular vacuum
I cannot believe how much more dirt, dust, and lint the Roomba picks up compared to my old vacuum. It does a great job when you set it to do one room at a time- then empty the bin. It picks up cat litter better than I could sweep it up myself! I love that I can have it vacuum one room while I am mopping another! It goes great over tile, hardwoods, and carpet (I have berber). I used to only vacuum under beds and furniture during spring/winter cleanings...the Roomba does it during every vacuum. I love it! My husband did not believe it would work, and now I find him using it when I am not home :)

What's not so great: factory warranty
I bought my 530 14 months ago and have not had any problems until now. The one year warranty expired two months back. After leaving a message with roomba tech support and waiting a week for a response, there response was I need to replace the unit. they offered a replacement robot for $200.00. Forget it. All I really needed was one of the front bumper sensor parts, but they weren't helpful at all. I would highly recommend the 4 year warranty for $40.00 it would have been worth it. After so long without my robot I decided to buy a new one from BestBuy with the 4yr warranty. you don't know how much you love it till it's gone. I recommend the robot and the extended warranty!

What's not so great: Extra bumper falls off, just use other glue
I recommend it and show it off to everybody. We love it. We love leaving the house with the robot cleaning. We know that when we get back, the room is clean. Only extra step needed is to make the house/room "rumba safe". for example: raising bar stools, picking up cables like speaker wire. After a few times you will see what you need to adjust so it cleans with out interruptions. Recommend the extended 4 yr warranty, it is very much worth it!!

I love my Roomba! We purchased ours a few weeks ago after hearing good things about it from several friends/family. We have a 2 story house that with mainly hardwood floors. We also have a dog who sheds a lot. I used to sweep several times a day and still see dog hair or feel dirt on the floor. Now I just turn my Roomba on a few times a day (to get all the rooms) and forget about it. My floors have never felt cleaner and I have more time to do other things. We'll probably be purchasing a 2nd Roomba so we can have one on each floor.

What's great about it: Gets up the pet hair
I have had my roomba about 2 weeks and my house has never felt cleaner. We have several pets and I could sweep and there would still be hair on the floor and flying in the air. Roomba gets it all up. Also, I am allergic to dust and the roomba doesn't blow the dust in the air like other vacuums I have used. I LOVE my roomba.

For the longest time, I didn't believe the Roomba would actually work. It was a great concept, but I thought there was no way it could actually clean without someone guiding it.
After having several friends rave (and even name) their Roombas, I decided to give it a shot. I was not disappointed. In fact, I was actually amazed at how well it cleans. I have carpet and tile floors, and it does a great job on both. On the carpeted rooms, you can tell it gets the entire floor by the tracks.
If you get the Roomba expecting to never have to do a deep cleaning again, you are setting your expectations too high. The Roomba is for regular cleanings (daily in my house) to keep the floors tidy. It's not going to pick up the caked on food on the kitchen tile, but it will get all dirt and pet hair. Instead of cleaning floors in the entire house several times a week, I find myself getting the corners and doing a better cleaning maybe once a week...okay....maybe once every two weeks!
One note. Before setting the Roomba free, make sure to do a good cleaning with a vacuum on the carpet, especially in the hard to reach areas that the Roomba will get with ease (such as under the beds). Because these areas are not cleaned as well with a regular vacuum, when Roomba tackles them for the first time you will constantly get the shut down and "Clean Roomba's brushes" warning.
Overall, this was a great buy!

Don't waste your money on these until they can make these better.....I mean who doesn't love the concept? Think about how small it is, now think about the size of the collection chamber....ya it fills up fast...then leaves a lint, dirt trail. Not good. Also, tell me again how it is too smart to fall down the stairs.....not so. I had a unit that wouldn't stop falling down the stairs....right to it's demise....had it less than a year, had bought the extended warrantee and ended up returning this and buying a dyson...I know I know, one extreme to the other. They need to make a lot of improvements!
