Red Eye Reduction does NOT work

What's not so great: Red Eye Reduction does NOT work
"Is it just me? Every picture I take using the flash has Red Eye in it. The red eye reduction is turned on and flashes like it should but every single picture still gets red eye when the flash is on!!
My last Sony camera NEVER got red eye in the pics. I bought this one as an upgrade to a newer and better camera and didn't realize it gets red-eye in EVERY flash picture until it was too late to exchange or return it."

"One of the coolest camera that takes great pictures with a lot of neat features. Everything is touch screen so a screen protector would be a great investment to protect this product. Good battery life and takes very good shots. The touch screen navigation is easy to use once you get the hang of it. It has a nice face detection feature that works very well, and the shutter speed along with it's burst mode feature is above average. It has a timer which is nice, and you can edit photos on the fly. A very sexy camera, and one that particularly stands out."

"What i Liked:
this is digi cam is my best purchase ever, I feel so proud to own it. It keeps me out from the crowd.
Everything is awesome about this, be it Pciture quality, variety of modes in which you can shoot the pictures and videos
Smile shutter also works :)
What i dint like:
you have to remember the icons and menu items. bit complicated but require lil hands on before u become a T200 expert.
Cost is a big factor. I have to care it a lot, keeping the touch screen in mind all the time
But i love it"

"as long as your not looking for a DSLR the sony t200 is a great purchase. its nice and slim and has a big screen for viewing. It has paint so you can edit your pictures and it has a mode for continous shooting which comes in very handy! the zoom is amazing and is more than almost every other compact camera. not to mention the iso is 3200! when you add high defination to the mix you have an awesome easy to use camera! Im very sad to see this camera go on clearence and already get replaced."

Excitement turns to disappointment

"What I liked: I was initially very excited by this camera. It was slim, stylish and packed full of features. The 3.5" display looked gorgeous in store, it was packed with a lot of nice features. 5X Optical Zoom, Optical Image Stabilization, responsive and accurate face detection, responsive auto-focus. It also had some added features other cameras did not such as touch screen menus, smile recognition, elaborate playback and creative effects which could be added "in camera". Sounded like it would be a lot of fun. I got it home and charged it up that night and my initial pictures in optimal lighting were very nice. The pictures sharp, the color pleasing, all in all very nice.
What I didn't like: Excitement turned to sad realization within a couple of days of shooting. If you have an eye for such things you will quickly notice blown highlights, blurry corners, vignetting and a fair amount of barrel distortion. Clearly a fair amount of noise reduction is being applied "in camera." This causes photos taken in less than ideal lighting conditions to be soft. Redeye is a big problem with this camera. A design annoyance is the placement of the lens. It is easy to get your finger in the way. No optical view finder, microscopic zoom rocker, confusing multi-layered menu system that quickly becomes an annoyance once the "cool factor" wears thin on the touch screen. LCD has the same resolution as smaller screens and can be difficult to view under certain lighting conditions. Autofocus performance is marginal to poor in low light. Smile detection is nothing more than a gimmick, VERY poor image quality under low light conditions.
It is obvious that Sony focused on style over substance with this camera. This is disappointing as I have owned a couple of Sony "compact" models. I thought they would also make a nice "sub-compact," but I was very disappointed and returned it after 3 days of pretty steady shooting. I know not to expect DSLR quality shots from a subcompact camera, but this camera was not only subcompact it was substandard. A search on the web will tell you that even compared to the T100 the picture quality has taken a big turn for the worse.
I returned my T200 and instead picked up a Canon SD950 IS. It certainly is not as sleek and stylish as the Sony and the 2.5" display doesn't have the "wow factor" of the 3.5" display on the T200. But where it counts, substance over style, the Canon is a far superior Camera in almost every way."

"I got this for Xmas. It is the most amazing camera I have ever owned. I was able to learn how to use all of the features going by using the onscreen menu- I didn't have to read the manual! I hate manuals. If I forget how to do something - I can figure it out on the camera. Each icon has instructions and a definition of what it does. The red eye correcton on the camera is way better than any software I have used. I do basic editing right on the camera - gets the job done right away!. I love it!"

"I was very hesitant when buying a camera...because money is precious to me, but I went all for it when I tested the camera in stores. I wanted a camera that had a pretty high megapixel, decent macro, and some effects...and I tested this out, and was amazed, especially with the touch screen to top it all off. "bought this camera for my wife for christmas cause she wanted a thin camera. this was the perfect gift. unfortunately while taking pictures in front of the christmas tree the lights on the tree seemed to explode onto the picture giving everyone red eye and making the picture extremely blurry. close up pictures were great with face detection that actually worked was a plus. unfortunately the sond cd software was unable to remove red eye from any picture. so i decided to stick with my canon powershot sd 1000 which is wonderful in every aspect of picture taking. do your homework and read reviews on your cameras before you buy them."
