A Real Find

What's great about it: Prints clear and fast. Regular printing and automatic both sides. Many options.. a melodic tone when print job is done!
What's not so great: Can be a little noisy when "preparing the printer" but that is minor.
"I have had a number of printers over the years. Actually all HP products and I have found this one to be the best yet. The display window is easy to follow and I like the way the ink is displayed so you know exactly when to replace one of them. And, replacing them is quite simple. I would buy this one again."

This C7280 HP printer is will worth the Price

What's great about it: A very functionable unit fast and very good print quality
What's not so great: the ASF is only half duplex - HP says thier working on a firmware update
"I’ve purchase this C7280 to replace my 880c printer due to excess slop in the carriage (Old Age and many print hours). The photo print quality is very good in both classes 4X6 & 8X10 photos. Document black print is crisp. I’ve installed this printer as a network printer and had no problems with the installation. Installed the HP software on 2 of my XP based machines and on my 3rd computer which is windows vista based. The print quality from the scanner is better than I expected in that I can’t tell which is which. The one downside I did found with this unit is that it’s only prints in half duplex on the A.S.F. (automatic sheet feeder) A document(s) (more than one page) printed from the computer to the printer is full duplex. HP says, they will have software and a firmware update by the end of February that will fix this problem. The PicsBridge works great.
This is a very good printer and Oh BTW this printer out prints the C8180 by a long shot."

What's great about it: Easy hookup to in house network
What's not so great: Software a little confusing
"I had no problems at all connecting to my in house network(2computers and an X-box 360 on the network).
In a matter of 1 hour it was up and running and I had tested the printing for regular paper and images from both computers. The connection software worked great in finding and connecting to the network but the photo software is a little confusing and it may be that I will just have to play with it a while to get comfortable. I was a little reluctant to purchase after reading other reviews but I have had nothing but good luck with HP printers in the past so I figured I would try it again and I am glad I did. I would recommend this printer to anyone with an in house network,or just a single computer. It works great for me!!"

What's great about it: 4 in one frees up space and reduces electrical use
What's not so great: None yet
"Bought this device to replace a fax machine, a 3 in 1 scanner/printer/copier, and another printer on the home network. Wife is the non-technical one and she was the one to set it up. She had no problems doing that. We home school and like the feature to print out various types of school paper (line, graph, music). Love how we have been able to free up space in our home office. Have it accessible to 5 computers and works great from all of them. Works much better than previous experiences I had trying to network a printer using 3rd party devices."

What's great about it: Wireless works seamlessly, easy configuration, good for photo printing
What's not so great: Little startup noise, Fax may not work on VOIP/broadband line.
"This is a good printer for someone who is looking to get away from wired clutter, with mulitple computers and/or consolidate with one printer. Wireless setup and configuration very easy. Works seamlessly. Excellent print quality both color/regular. This printer uses 5 color and 1 Black cartridges for excellent photo prints.
Little startup noise when Power On and when issuing print. One will get used to it. Wireless print takes good 5 ~ 7 seconds to start printing.
Fax could be an issue with VOIP/broadband phone lines. Sending works and Receiving might not."

Good Hardware, Bad Software

"I have to agree with many of the reviewers on this site--the software can make this printer almost useless. We have 2 computers in this house, and on one, the printer driver has fallen out of the system every time the computer is turned off, and on the other computer, the driver has dropped twice. Also, it does not seem to link in well with the household network.
It's such a pity--the printer has really nice print quality, it works fast, and I really like the auto-load feature. But because the software is so poor, it's essentially a stand-alone system."

"i have had this prodoct 7 days now. at first, i was also running into the wireless issues some people had(the printer disappearing off of my vista laptop) i called hp up and they fixed it in about 15m and told me it works off an IP address. being that this was my field of expertise..i tried a couple things and have a SOLUTION. on my desktop..i can always print..its still all wireless but then again its right by the printer too. in order to keep the laptop printer...i uninstalled all that junk 198MB s/w first. i then proceeded to install the basic drivers(at 44MB). i ran it "through the network" again and havent had a problem since. try that. i like my print server built into the printer. it works on all user accounts on all pcs!! not like that "print server" stuff i used to have a couple months back."

Can It Get Any Better?

What's not so great: just take some time to print if using by network with ethernet cable.
"I just bought this thing yesterday and I’ve been up all night working on it and trying to get to know everything I need to know about this all-in-one. At first I went out to look for the brother brand after comparing online. Just my poor luck the one I wanted could only be bought online. To make a long story short I compared once more, this time with someone who works in the story. He had me ready to buy a Kodak all in one until we notice the many plus about this HP all in one. My wife and I were sold .We drove 10miles to pick this up since that store we were at was out, I tell you it was worth the trip. You don’t see to many home printers using both side of the paper without you turning it over yourself. Once you print a photo I promise you that you won’t ever return to the store for development. The quality is 10times better then the ones from the store. If using Ethernet cable to run printer to network make sure to have a real strong connection or else to may take 10 to 15 seconds to start printing. Beside that go out and get this one."

What's not so great: Scanner and software
"The scanner says it is supposed to be able to scan at a very high resolution. however, even at the highest DPI setting picture scans came out very grainy and blacks all looked dark gray at best.
The software is a total resource hog and is constantly checking for the printer whether you're printing to it or not. So I wouldn't want to leave that monitor running all the time as it's always taking up resources.
If you plan on trying to use the scanner feature you'll be sorely disappointed. Just not worth the price"

Great printer after you work the bugs out

What's great about it: Superb print quality
What's not so great: Set up was a pain
"After returning a Kodak 5500 that didn't work and having some snags with this printer, I thought I was cursed. This printer was making a horrible grinding noise while printing. HP tech support did not resolve the issue, however offered to replace the printer. Not wanting to be defeated, I removed the back roller cover and discovered a part that was not snapped in correctly and VOILA!! it worked great....Until, the next day when the printer icon disappeared from the printer folder.
HP was able to resolve this issue and the printer is working fine....wireless of course.
I give it four stars because of the set up issues, but with the bugs worked out, I like this printer. One other con is that HP customer service is in New Dehli, India. These people try hard to help and are freindly, but I have difficulties understanding them."

"Be aware that HP does not provide phone support for printers used with Macs, so you'll get no real support on this at all. I was on the phone with Apple for a couple of hours, but still couldn't get it to print even though the driver was installed."

"After trying and returning 2 Kodak 5500 printer that didn't work out of the box, we bought this printer. It was a pleasant surprise that a new printer actually works out of the box. I have had good luck with HP printers. I've had a 4215 for a few years that is a workhorse. This printer was for my dad that wanted the better quality printer for pictures.
Setup was a breeze and quality seems good."

"My wife got it for me account of the wireless capability. It saves me going to the basement with my bad knees. After I got it I was reading the reviews and wondered if it should go back before opening it. Glad I didn't take it back. Have only used it a few times, but I am very pleased with it so far. I would recommend it based on my experience."

"I bought this for the wireless feature of course. Installation was easy and typical for Hp printers but the wireless feature no matter what I tried it did not work. I called the HP help line. Two and a half hours later on the chat help line, the printer then did not work at all. I had to press # and 6 turn it off and then back on to get the factory defaults back on the printer. The "help" line was waste of time. It is now connected with a USB cable which defeats the purpose of "wireless" but now at least it works. Do not buy this printer because of the wireless feature."

What's great about it: good print quality
What's not so great: wireless connection,scan quality,drivers
"Please save yourself some trouble and do not buy this printer.
first issue is the ink cartridges that come with the unit are not for actual printing. But the instructions do not tell you this. They just initialize the system and must be replaced before you can print. (as per online help chat)
Second the driver CD that says its compatible with Vista is not and you need to download the drivers for Vista machines (as per online help chat)
Third. printer install just disappear from time to time. and you can not print with the printer wirelessly even though it shows as a network device. you must stop what you are doing and reinstall the drivers. Who wants to do that.
fourth scan quality is not that good. I get better scans out of my old Lexmark printer-scanner."

What's great about it: Very easy to setup/use, professional results, every feature you'll ever need
What's not so great: Takes a while to warm up for printing after sitting idle
"Very easy setup, even for the wireless connection. Nice color screen for controlling the printer. Scans are awsome. I have my printer on my wireless home network so when I need to scan something I just pop in a flash drive, press scan then scan to memory device and bam, it does it all for you. The photo prints are better than you can get at the store, the previous reviewers do not lie. Just pop in your memory card (takes every kind that exists) and the pictures show up on the color screen. Just select the one you want and press print and in about a min you have a perfect 4 X 6 without leaving your house. The cartridges are so simple to put in. Open the lid, pop open the clamp and the old one drops right out, just insert new cartridge and close the clamp and thats it. I love this machine!!! This is a must buy!!!!!"

What's great about it: scanner, printing all excellent
"I changed up from an Epson, what a difference, picture printing is flawless, make sure to use only HP advance Photo paper, big difference over other brand paper, much better. Scanner scans pics beautifully, set up was a breeze, alot of ink cartridges but at 10 a piece or 35 for the photo pack not too bad. Just to get used to it out of the box I Printed out a few pics, look as good or better than Lab prints, looked grainy on other paper, put in HP again and great quality.Haven't hooked up fax yet but very happy with the purchase."

What's great about it: Works Ok WITH WIRES
What's not so great: I wanted a WIRELESS Machine
"Pay close attention to the reviews here and you'll see a clear difference between those that hard-wired the C7280 and those that bought it for the wireless feature.
The C7280 was easy to install and found my network with no problem. It even knew my network was secured and prompted me for my WEP encription code. I installed the C7280 software on 3 computers (2 XP and one Vista). In all three cases the printer profile disappeared from the machines within one hour. I later found this is a common problem with people who purchased this machine and there is no solution other than to re-install the software every time you need the printer... who wants to do that?
After wasting six evenings on the phone with HP technical support I had to take it back.
My recommendation.... If you need a wireless printer, buy a PrintServer instead of the C7280."

What's great about it: I'm sure its fine, but not with Leopard
What's not so great: No software for Leopard (OS X 10.5)
"The software with this computer is not compatible with Leopard. With some hassle, you can get it to print, but it will not scan or fax. It even says so on the HP website. What a waste, as it is too late for me to return it. Do not bother if you have or plan on upgrading to Leopard."
