By nashfamily from Clearwater, Florida

What's great about it: Image quality is excellent!
What's not so great: pricey

"Right out of the box, I inserted a SD card and it worked great. Image quality is far superior to the smaller one I have at work. I purchased this one to hang on the wall at home. It's awesome!"

Good picture definition   02/13/2008
By AusPowers from Baltimore, MD

What's great about it: Good picture definition
What's not so great: Bad packaging and instructions

"Excellent picture definition and frame size. Honestly, I think all of these solutions are over-priced, but you will notice that the average frame has less pixels than your average cell phone camera can support. This model appeared more apt to the viewing capabilities required of this size a picture frame. So I bought it for my mother. She seems to love it. But be prepared to set it up for whomever you buy this."

Digital Spectrum Rocks!   02/04/2008
By TheFamilyTechGuy from Olathe KS

What's great about it: Great picture, easy to use
What's not so great: CF cards hard to remove, no save for wep key, desktop stand weak

"I purchased this frame to display a slide show at my sisters funeral as my parents couldn't get their Westinghouse model to work. I got it home, loaded the photo's the Westinghouse model wouldn't play and it worked like a charm. Wireless was a painful process to set up as I have a 63 character key and had to enter it twice.
The desktop stand broke on the way home from the service so I emailed the manufacturer, explained what happened and asked for a part number and pricing (as it wasn't warranty) to get a new stand. They replied first thing Monday morning asking simply for my home address and proof of purchase. They covered it under warranty!
I plan on using this at trade shows since it is so easy to load and use."

Does not live up to expectations   01/26/2008
By Quade from St. Louis, MO

What's great about it: Good, Clear LCD
What's not so great: Horrible interface, Wi-Fi dosn't function correctly

"If you are looking for a good, clear LCD for a digital photo frame, this is for you. Unfortunately this is about all I have good to say for this product. The user interface is clunky at best. The frame takes a second or two to respond to any input from either the remote or the buttons on the unit. The worst part of this product is the Wi-Fi connection. Even though it is suppose to support encrypted Wi-Fi (WEP, WPA, WPA2, etc) it will not connect to any access point that uses encryption. I wasn't going to disable encryption on my network just for this frame (I'm not that stupid). I returned the first unit thinking that it was a problem with the hardware. The replacement unit did the same thing. Ended up returning it for store credit. Again, I liked the screen, but it's not worth $300+ (if you include tax) for this unit if it can't connect to my Wi-Fi connection. In addition the interface is horrible. The bad thing is that I can't find any better products at this time. Considering it's competition it's not bad, but...."

Connect With Your Friends   12/19/2007
By scmac9 from austin

What's great about it: Thru photo sharing web site friends can email pics to frame
What's not so great: Cannot connect directly to frame via home wireless.

"-
I was looking for a frame for my wife for Christmas. Since she will likely set this in the kitchen, I wanted a good sized frame. At 10.4 inches, this one is easy to view across the room. Additionally, I surmised it would be best to get a frame with an aspect ration that matched what a normal digital camera would produce: 4:3 (so I avoided frames with unusual dimensions such as widescreens).
What interested me in this frame was that it came with a wireless card installed. There really wasn't any information on the box (I bought this in store) that explained what that would do for me. I was interested from a sheer convenience point. That is, I was hoping I could access the frame via my home wireless network and manage the pictures through a web interface. This would avoid the need to connect cables or manage pictures on the memory card. The interface does not allow this, but what I discovered was much better.

The real value of this frame is the ability to monitor an RSS feed from a photo sharing site. On the Digital Spectrum site they feature FrameChannel.com. I set up an account there. The site had easy instructions for setting up the frame to receive the RSS feed. Yes, it was a bit tedious inputting the information into the frame, but that is a one-time event. To get photos to the frame, simply upload them to the site and they show up in just a few minutes or sooner. What I really liked about the FrameChannel site (and this may be true of others) is that I can authorize her friends' email addresses to send photos in via email. These then show up on the frame. Now she can stay connected to her friends and relatives via emailed photos. It's convenient for everybody. FrameChannel can also aggregate photos from other sharing sites.

I had seen some other reviews that were not as satisfied with the results. I noticed that each of those reviews had something slightly askew. Such as, one user had problems getting the frame to network because they did not use a WEP key, but some other wireless security method. The other user was having trouble with the photo sharing site they used. I tend to try to work with a device the way it is best supported by the manufacturer. As such, my network uses a standard WEP style key, which was tedious to input, but the frame connected easily to my wireless and to the internet. I choose to use the highlighted photo sharing site, FrameConnect, and in moments my frame was picking up images. For me to transfer an image to the frame, I just upload to the site.
I've had several friends send in photos and it's been very straightforward. I can even send directly from my phone since my phone can email pictures.

It has 256Meg of internal memory. I believe this should be sufficient as I think if you have more than about 25 pictures rotating through the frame, you probably won't be able to enjoy them. I think it is more important to keep fewer fresh photos than quantity.

I did purchase the extended warranty because this is a relatively new technology."

Very good   10/03/2007
By photoFred

What's great about it: Great image quality, large sceen, extensive internal memory, wireless capabilities
What's not so great: A bit pricey

"I love this frame! Make sure all images are re-sized and adjusted before loading, as it seems to display the best images at the matched 800x600 resolution. Do not waste your time buying a frame with odd pixel dimensions as many seem to have. I learned that they will crop the image to fit it on the display. So, you end up with an image shown not the way it was captured. As an amateur photographer that takes pride in his work, what good is that to me or others? I quickly returned that model and picked this one up. I highly recommend this frame but if not - please do the research and if you shoot in 4x3 aspect ratio (usually the default for us all) then you need to focus on 640x480, 800x600, or the highest I have seen of 1024x768. Any of these will do fine."
