TV-out won't enable 05/20/2008

What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: TV-out won't enable

"I like this player very much but it won't enable the TV-out feature. When I click on enable, a screen pops up for a moment and then just goes back to where it was before- which is disabled. Anyone else have same problem?"

What's great about it: Cheap
What's not so great: Everything else

"It says that it is Mac compatible, but what that ACTUALLY means is that Mac recognizes it, that's about all. when i (tried) putting my music on, "database full" FROM ONE CD...the only reason i gave this one star was because it wouldn't let me use zero"

What's great about it: Easy Transfer

"Great product. Bought one in December and still works great. Transfered all of my music with the program provided and it was sooo easy to use. Had no difficulty at all. I would recommend this product to anyone. It also has a memory card slot for additional storage space which means more music for less price."

What's great about it: plays videos, rhapsody download capability is great
What's not so great: availability of accesories

"The insignia player actually provides all of the functionallity that you would need in a MP3 player. The ability to synch music from various sources i.e: Windows media player, rhapsody, etc. You can view videos, listen to books, and music. The most impressive component of the insignia is its ability to synch with rhapsody and recieve not only downloaded music but also rhapsody radio stations that a based on music genres. Excellent product."

What's great about it: Small, lightweight, easy to use
What's not so great: charged on pc only

"I love this product! It is so easy to add music to, easy to navigate, sounds good (although I didnt really like the earbuds that came with it, so I bought new ones...but I'm pretty picky on what goes in my ear lol)
The only bad thing I can say about this is that you have to plug it into a pc to charge, but on the flip side it plays forever once fully charged!"

What's great about it: Easy to use, Rhapsody Free Trial
What's not so great: only able to charge via USB, short battery life

"I bought this for my daughter after her Creative Zen Vision W broke. I spent more than I wanted at first but the Rhapsody free trial made it more than worth the price. It is easy to use and the FM Radio identifies what is playing at the time."

What's great about it: easy to mannuever
What's not so great: Bad quality

"I would never ever recommend this to anyone. This is the worst Mp3 player i have EVER used. I got this for Christmas and now, 5 months later, it just stopped working. It wont charge, it wont turn on, and when i finally got it to turn on once it froze after 5 mins. The battery life sucked. I would have to charge it at least once a day. The audio quality was bad also. It had scratchy quality at low volumes. once it finally stopped, it was too loud to listen to comfortably. I would not recommend this to anyone and would strongly suggest that you do not buy one or the 8 gig version either. It also doesnt come with a seperate charger so you need to charge it on a computer which stinks because if you go on vacation and you dont have a computer, then you can only use it until it dies and you cant listen to it while its charging either."

What's great about it: Has optional bluetooth, easy to use, small & compact etc.
What's not so great: Sometimes it deletes the wrong thing

"This mp3 player is small and fun to use. Although I did not use the Blue tooth capability on this device, I heard that it was very convenient. I liked how, even though mp3 was so small, it could still play movies and store a significant amount of music. I thought the price of this product was extremely reasonable. I would highly suggest this product to anyone who would like to own a convenient and easy-to-use Mp3 player."

What's great about it: large screen, quality photo resolution
What's not so great: hard to navigate, the wheel is very sensitive

"Good price for the quality. Slightly hard to navigate but the Ipod touch screen is even worse. 4gb is perfect for me, I have 400 songs and still have room for my pics. The picture resolution is better than previous Ipods I've owned. I highly recommend this product due to the value."

Best Decision I Made 04/28/2008

What's great about it: Price, Bluetooth, Multiple Media Formats, Sound/Video Quality

"For the price, you can't beat this product. I've been using this product for about a year now (the previous version, and the new model) and have had no problems at all. I've dropped it numerous times without any ill-effects.
Sound

The sound quality is very good. You'll never be limited by the quality of the player, only by the headphones you plug in to it. The wide range of volume control is great for someone like myself who listens to all sorts of music and needs to alternate volume often. This player handles it perfectly.
Video
-
I was surprised at how good the video quality was on this thing. When I purchased it, I viewed the ability to watch videos as a novelty "icing on the cake" sort of thing. I bought it to listen to music, but I've found myself on a large number of occassions watching full-length movies on it because the quality is just that good.
Controls
-
The navigation wheel is very easy to use. I've never had issues with the buttons/wheel "sticking" or otherwise disobeying me. Navigating to any part of the system is painless and simple. Very intuitive all the way around.
Connectivity

Everything works the way you'd expect. I'm in the Computer Science field and I was pleased to see that the device works on Windows and Linux. That is to say, if you know how to access USB drives on either operating system, this device is no different. Simply plug it in, navigate to the drive, and you can add/remove/edit all of the media you've got stored on it. Most users will use the software tha tis included, and while it does work great, I'm a purist and choose not to. The point is, this device gives the user the ability to access their device any way they see fit. That's saying a lot.
Conclusion

Don't get baited into spending ridiculous amounts of money for a Zune or an iPod. This device is all you'll ever need to satisfy your portable media needs, and you can use the money you've saved to buy some new songs for it!"

Quite a nice little MP3 player 04/24/2008

What's great about it: Size, colour screen, battery life w/regular headphones, expansion port
What's not so great: battery life/w bluetooth headphones, drag and drop provides bad files, radio is spotty

"I won't compare this player w/ my much larger full screen video and MP3 player, but for the price and size it's quite nice. The controls are easy to use and the colour screen is a nice size. The radio is a nice feature but the reception can be quite bad. I love the expansion port, w/ a 4GB card I can put a nice selection of my music, pictures, and video on the player. the bluetooth is nice also, but puts big drain on the battery. All in all it's a nice player for my purse and the pros outweigh the cons."

What's great about it: Easy to use, worked right out of the box, expansion port, screen, features,....

"I picked this up yesterday evening. Prior to this, I had a Sansa View, which I liked, but it gave me a LOT of problems trying to update the firmware, my computer(s) weren't recognizing it, etc. I returned that and went with this insignia model.
Not as much memory,....but I've had NO issues with anything. I was able to sync my music and photo's, connect to Rhapsody-to-go and download music, etc. All I've wanted the other player(s) to do, this does, and for a reasonable price.
Nice sound, size, etc. I would recommend this unit!"

What's great about it: large color screen, super easy to use, love the selector wheel, battery lasts forever, gets very loud
What's not so great: Not a lot of accessories yet, dont care for charging on computer only, headphones that came with it sucked

"My last MP3 PLayer cost nearly 3 times as much, wasnt this easy to use, didnt put out this good of sound and didnt have a color screen. Really dont think you can find a better player for the price. I think its a great little device. Plus you dont need any software -- plug it in a USB Port and start syncing."

What's great about it: A lot cheaper than other brands and does the same job! Easy to navigate and use. Light-weight and thin.

"Before this MP3 player I had a Creative Labs 30 GB one that was a lot larger in size and storage space. However, I must say that I much prefer the Insignia player. Its screen offers a sharper picture, it's light-weight, and it's really easy to navigate with the real. To load music, I just use Media Player and have had no problems. Great buy for the price."

Nice Improvements, but still needs work. 04/11/2008

What's great about it: Large clear screen, good nav controls, and audible compatible
What's not so great: bad battery life and limited accessories

"This is my second Insignia player and I've had a couple of minor problems, but nothing I could fix. The controls are great and the player really is easy to use. The size really is good proportion to the screen. The wheel control makes navagation a breeze. The sound quality really is good, but just don't use the headphones that come with the player. The headphones that come with it really don't do the player justice. I replaced them the day I bought the player since I learned from previous experience in owning two other Insignia players. Replace the headphones and you'll be impressed. Battery life on the other hand needs work. Under normal operation operating with a set of wired earplugs, battery life is about normal, but I purchased a set of Insignia Bluetooth headphones to pair with my player. What I learned was that using the bluetooth headset drained my battery at a serious rate. I wasn't aware of that and Insignia didn't make that point clear. I experimented and found that I have just over 5 hours of battery time when using the bluetooth headset and have just under 10 hours if using as set of decent earbuds. That's a significant drain and needs to be pointed out in the manual. Still, it's a cool thing to have wireless headphones and a player that lets you do that. I rated this high because it really is a good bargain even with the few short falls. I still prefer it over an Ipod anyday."

What's great about it: Love the layout, the wheel nav, folder view and play, screen and player size
What's not so great: Even with extremely good earbuds the sound quality is AWFUL

"Took a chance to buy and try - BUT it's going back to the store today.

Sorted out how to do folder view so that you don't have to use media player to drag and drop your tunes into it. Dragged a couple over and gave a listen...

Ugh... Even at not-so-loud volumes with great earbuds, this thing produces crunchy tones. Not listen-able. In comparison the same tunes with the same earbuds on the Sansa and MiniDisc players we have produce amazingly better sound quality. Going to get a COWON..."

"I have never had so much trouble with an MP3 player. I have 3 others and this is the WORST. The software didn't work the first time I loaded it and I finally fixed that after hours and HOURS of searching through the mess they call online support. Now after 3 months suddenly the software won't let me create playlists to organize my files. It keeps telling me to sign in... at the same time the software tells me I AM signed in. This product is a total waste of time and money. This product has been difficult to use since I got it. If you're looking for something EASY, this isn't it. Get an iRiver or one of the better products out there. After this experience I will never buy an Insignia anything ever again!"

"It is a good MP3 player with a good price. It has a lot of good features. The bluetooth is great. The bad thing is that the plastic backing makes it feel cheap. The setup at first was confusing but other than that it is good."
