What's great about it: Great Sound and picture.
What's not so great: We should've gotten the 46in
"The picture quality with our standard cable connection improved greatly when we got this TV, but when we upgraded to hi-def digital. I can't even begin to explain it. The sound and picture quality was intensified. Outstanding TV. I really can't find any cons about this TV. It was easy to setup and is compatible with all our audio and gaming equipment. The size is fine but we underestimated the area we placed the TV at. The 46in would've been perfect. Highly recommend it."

WOW, what a picture.

What's great about it: Picture, Appearance , did I say picture.
What's not so great: Price for the size, gaming.
"I did a lot of research before getting this TV. I also have a 42" plasma that does 1080i. I had set this up in front of it to compare the picture quality. All I can say is WOW. The colors were so much brighter and vivid. The contrast was better on the plasma, but this LCD does have great blacks. The biggest difference was gaming. Even with the 120 MHz refresh there is still some noticeable delay while playing fast pace games. I was playing Oblivion on the Xbox360. When you would do a 360, the image would be distorted slightly. I did not see this on the plasma TV. However, with the 1080P and picture quality, I will give up some refresh rate. Wait till BB puts this on sale again and BUY IT."

What's great about it: Excellent picture with Dish Satellite
What's not so great: Haven't found any
"This is the TV that I researched and dreamed of getting. I have it hooked up to a Panasonic Blu-ray player that I also purchased from Best Buy and the picture is breathtaking, especially action movies. Video 2 is connected to my 1980's Marantz Stereo system, and while the sound is not digital, I really like the output better than through the TV speakers. I was careful to buy a size TV that would look good in the size living room it will be seen in. The remotes are easy to use, and the colors are excellent. Thanks to Best Buy on line reviews, I knew exactly what to buy when I went into the store. The sales man helped me pick out the correct cable."

"I have been studying flat panel TV's for over a year. After reading all the reviews and looking at hundreds of tv screens in the stores, I settled on the XBR4 series by Sony. I chose quality over size to fit my entertainment budget and opted for the 40" XBR4. I am amazed at the picture quality. The setup of the system was extremely easy. There are a myriad of options, but you can adjust the screen for the way you like without going too deep. Overall, this is the best TV I have seen and I am proud to be an owner."

Good Purchase w/ Minor Flaw

What's great about it: Great picture and sound quality, light-weight, easy wall mounting capabilities
What's not so great: Only one HDMI Input
"I purchased this television 6 months ago and I have been immensely happy with it. The picture quality is some of the most sharp and detailed that I've ever seen. The sound quality from the speakers on the television itself is better than most on the market. The only fault with the product is that there is only one HDMI input. For people who have more than one peice of equipment that has HD capabilities, you will need to buy a HDMI Switch that usually runs about $100 on top of the extra HDMI cables that are needed for the components. Altogether, it is well worth it to purchase this television. Enjoy!"

What's not so great: would be helpful to have and HDMI and component plug in on both sides of tv
"We spent days shopping and hours doing research on the internet before deciding on this tv. We shopped in several stores and at two Best Buys. The Best Buy salesmen were patient, knowledgeable and extremely helpful, but not pushy. The tv has a fantastic picture anyway, but especially on HD, viewable from all angles and large enough to see clearly from another room. Last night I could see horseshoe nails on a horse's hooves as it was walking by. It's like being in a movie theatre when watching blue-ray and sometimes the sound is coming from behind me and we don't have surround sound hooked up yet. In some closeups, the image is so clear and real, I feel as if I could almost reach out and touch it. I haven't seen any blur on fast-moving images.
We've only seen one tv since we bought ours that has the quality this one does, but we're still extremely happy with this one. There have been a couple of promotions and sales within the price guarantee period since we bought the tv and we had no problem with price difference refunds and gaining the promotions - we only had to show our receipt!
I would highly recommend this tv and buying it at Best Buy!"

"This is an awesome HDTV. I thought is was amazing just using HD rabid ears, then I signed up for cable, what an amazing picture on the HD channels and great on others. The salesman at Best Buy was very knowledgable and never tried to push anything on me. I plan to buy another set for my office room."

"I went between the samsung 4071 and the xbr4 for 5 months and ended up buying this set and it has not let me down yet. It is well worth the money, the only thing I would change is the motion blur on 1080p blu-ray and hd-dvd's. Theres not much but I am very picky with picture quality. If this bothers you I would go with the Pioneer KURO which is pricey but an oustanding plasma.But overall the best LCD I have seen you can also go to www.cnet.com to read indepth reviews."

"This was my first HD LCD purches so I did a lot of research. After a couple of months of online as well as in store research my wife and I went to pick out our new tv. When we got to BB it was between Sony and Samsund. We almost bought a 40" Samsung when we saw this Sony on an end cap. The sales man had forgotten about it being there and we didn't see on our way to the back wall with all the other tvs. When we saw and herd this tv it was over, the descision was made. We have two small children so having a home theater system just isn't possible right now. (To many extra things to mess with for little hands.) The sound on this tv is almost like it is already hooked up to a HT. It blows away the other tvs we looked at. The kicker to the story is my parents went out an bought the Samsung we had looked at and hooked it up to home theater. Ours sounds almost as good as theirs and the picture is a lot better than the Samsung. I would definitley recommend the Sony."

"I think it has the best picture of any tv I ever purchased but the one dead pixel is pretty upsetting. I didn't notice it until like 40 days after purchase and from three or more feet you can't really notice but I don't think it's worth taking it off the wall and returning it over a little speck you can't see unless your'e up close."

"I have had this tv for a few months now. I originally bought the samsung 71 series in a 40". The samsung started stuttering the longer I had it and it had to go back. I replaced it with the sony. I wish I would have bought the sony from the start, but for some reason in Best Buy, it seems that samsung is promoted more by the guys working there. Not to mention, the sony that they had on display really looked bad in the store. They had it seperate from all of the other sets on the end of an aisle playing a blu ray dvd. I don't know who set the tv up, but it sure looked to me as if it could have used a whole lot of tweaking now when I think back. My sony looks 100 times better than that one did that day in the store. I was really under the impression that the sony was a very overpriced piece of XXXX and that the samsung just blew it away. I was wrong and now realize that you cannot really get a good comparison in the store unless they are playing the same thing and you really need to be able to have the opportunity to "handle" the remote to tweak it to your liking to see which one works best for you. The only thing that concerns me is the amount of heat that comes off of this set when I stand close to it. It really does get hot."
