What's great about it: Using the setup directions that came with it made it easy to set up for multi devices.
This universal remote is the first to actually work for us.

What's great about it: Exact replacement
I purchased to remotes to replace remotes my son had damaged at my in-laws. I attempted to order the remotes directly from Directv, however this turned out to be a time consuming project. I found the exact remotes online and my son gave them as Christmas present with an apology note.
The remotes are exact replacements and since they are the same remotes there was not learning curve.

What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: Short life
My remote broke w/ in 6 months of having it. No I don't play football with it, however I like to watch football with it as I have sunday ticket. Now I'll be rushing to BB before the games start to get a new one. Also, I always noticed a lag when looking through my guide, now that my remote is broken I'm using the buttons on the receiver and no more lag - so I have to assume the lag was between the controller and the receiver. Seems like these are just poorly built.

What's great about it: Combines lots of commonly used features into a concise remote!
What's not so great: The only downside is kids with dirty hands on the nice white remote...
My enitre family (Mom & Dad, and their 4 children) became immediate members of DIRECTV the very day that it became available to us in the summer of 1991 at all of our Vacation Homes and all of our Residences. We loved DIRECTV instantly and within 12 months we all had removed all of those 15 ft diameter satellite Receivers and dishes and to the trash they went. Thank the LORD! We had our beautiful yards back!! In these past 19 going on 20 years, NONE OF US have ever had a Remote Control from DIRECTV to BREAK Mid-stream! We have had some issues with the receivers themsleves, but NOT a single one was due to the remote controllers. I am an a Mathematical Science Major and Telecommunications Engineer from UNC-CH! One thing I have always considered to be a PLUS in the technological age is the fact that DIRECTV has kept a version of their original Directv Remote Control that came with it's first model by RCA which was then a BLACK remote with Blue, Red, and Black buttons with white writing with the only MAJOR changes being much LARGER NUMBERS with White Keys with Black, Red, and Blue writing and a white face! Thus this makes it much easier for the technologically challenged generations that are now much older than their 50's!

What's great about it: Easy to set up
What's not so great: Replaced three times this year
I would encourage you to purchase another type of universal remote. This one will stop working for you within a year or sooner. It is very easy to set up, but not sure why they just stop working. I enjoy having all the buttons that allow you to control the DVR options, so you might not be able to use another remote. Just make sure you keep receipts and packaging to be able to return the product to exchange.

What's great about it: Easy to set up. Does what it does.
What's not so great: Switch on top to swap devices breaks OFTEN!
Not a terrible remote, it does what it's supposed to do. BUT the switch on the top that swaps the devices you are switching between is FLIMSY!!! I've had DirecTV for 2 years, and have broken 3 of these things all the same way. The switch on the top breaks, ALWAYS taking the remote out of DTV mode and rendering it useless. I don't even use this switch! It's not that it wears out, it breaks on the first time you move it. I can't imagine how fast it will break if you actually use the switch on a regular basis to control another device(s).
If you have kids, do yourself a favor and put some tape over the switch so it doesn't move. As I said, my kids have broken 3 remotes in 2 years just moving the switch.

What's great about it: Almost universal support for most TVs and DVD players.
What's not so great: Slow response to receiver.
This remote came with and is mostly used for our DirecTV receivers. It recognized our TVs: a 2005 Toshiba rear-projection TV, and two ~10-year old TVs. However it did not recognize some of our DVD players, home theater systems. Not a big deal.
My main gripe is its slow response between remote and receiver, such as when scrolling through channel listings or searching for shows. Otherwise, this a good remote.

What's great about it: not much
What's not so great: can't control my tv or amplifier
For all the money you pay for Directv you would think a good remote would be included. It won't turn my flat panel on (view sonic) and it won't control my receiver. Don't buy it if you have a home theater or in my case even a simple set up.

What's great about it: Rubberized Back
What's not so great: Not Well Thought out with Unlit, Stiff Buttons,
The remote is not ergonomically designed, with the buttons being unlit, very stiff and difficult to use for anyone with a joint disorder such as arthritis. Unless you hold the remote number keys down just the right amount of time, either the number will not register or it will be repeated (e.g., pressing channel 2 may result in channel 22). However, and unlike all other remotes I've used, holding the up and down arrow key buttons does not result in cycling through a menu; instead you must press the up or down buttons repeatedly to arrive at your selection. Unlike other remotes, this one is not at all forgiving if you do not point it directly at the receiver and TV. It is white and dirties easily. Finally, changing channels is not instantaneous, in fact, not even close, taking 4-11 seconds, although this is probably a function of the receiver.

What's great about it: price and size
What's not so great: programming
Well, I am pretty technologically savvy but this device wouldn't hook up to two different devices in my house. One was a sony tv and the other was a panasonic dvd player. Both are only a couple years old. I tried the auto and manual programming methods. I guess I should contact the manufacturer or something but, oh well. Otherwise the size, weight, and buttons are pretty nice for this remote considering the pricing.

I purchased a Viore TV and it was a floor model and it didnt come with a remote. I currently have Directv and I had the RC32 remote. Called Viore and the remote was backordered and cost 65 dollars! Yikes, not about to pay that for a remote. So I looked up this new remote on Directv website, typed in my TV brand and it said this one well do the trick! And......well Im writing this review because its works!
TV off and on, volume and menu!
