What's great about it: Touch Screen, photo quality is amazing, options are great.
What's not so great: Nothing

"Printer is def. worth every penny. The picture quality is amazing. The photos look better then any other printer I looked at. The WiFi and blue tooth features are great. The extra features are great. Has great editing options if you print without using a computer. Very happy I didnt cheap out and get a less expensive printer."

What's great about it: lots of features: networking, wi-fi, bluetooth, dvd, card reader, photo paper tray
What's not so great: slow!!! sucks down ink, poor photo quality, no fax, small paper feeder, no duplexer!!

"The printer was easy to set up for networking - both wired and wi-fi. The dvd option works great but only works from the printer - no computer input/control.

I bought the printer because I wanted the duplex option only to discover after I bought it that HP no longer makes the accessory for it. I bought it despite the lack of fax capability but still wish it had it.

I can't stress how slow this machine is. I read professional reviews prior to buying it that it was slow but had no idea - ppm specs don't tell the whole story. PPM is what it prints out when the printer actually starts printing. I can send a doc to the printer, walk down the hallway, and it still hasn't even started printing yet.

Pictures turn out much darker than what they look like in my camera, on my monitor, or on other printers - much detail is lost - and I really don't want to spend the time doctoring the pics in Photoshop just because of the stupid printer.

Combine all this with going through ink cartridges like crazy for only light-to-moderate use and a very small paper tray capacity, I would definitely stay away from this printer. I'm glad I got it on sale for 40% off and will only use it as a backup. If it wasn't connected to the network via wi-fi, I would disconnect it to make way for another printer."

What's great about it: the ease to set up and use kinda did all the work for me
What's not so great: uses ink fast I think

"I have really enjoyed this so much. I only wished I had purchased it sooner. Then only thing is I think it usesI INK fast. It could be becasue the quality is great but I am not sure. Or maybe the in cartriges are smaller then I am use to. Either way I really like this and I will continue to use it because I get instant results that are professional. My friends and family do not know that I have been printing thier picture off at home, and not having them sent out. I get to correct and change and do all sorts of fun things at home with out waiting and driving to get the end results I have them right here in my hands when I need them. I really appericate this wonderful maching.

The only improvement that I could see HP making is either make bigger ink wells or having it in some way use less ink."

What's great about it: Full multi-function capabilities, fast network set-up, excellent software

"I've had dozens of printers/multis over the years, and this one is hands-down the best. The network setup was easy and connection has been very reliable. The copy, fax, and scan functions can all be accessed via the keyboard or the PC, which is very convenient if the PC is off and you just need to do a quick copy or send a fax. One improvement over earlier models is the addition of the document feeder, which is a real time-saver when sending multi-page faxes. The styling is also very attractive. Paper jams are infrequent, but access is easy when you do need to get inside the casing. It is also extremely easy to change ink cartridges--no fuss, no muss! (if only they weren't so expensive!!)"

"I love this printer! I love the vivera inks, and the picture quality is perfect! It's very speedy, and the scanner is excellent. I just want to gush and gush about this printer!

I am getting married in Feb and am doing a lot of things myself. This baby helps me do everything! I can print my own engagement photos, my invitations, and make music cd favors, laser engraved! I can scan pictures from our childhood for a slideshow at the wedding. I can even scan negatives and slides! Time saver! I don't have a dvd drive on my computer, so I can use the printer as an external drive! This is simply the best printer I've ever owned!

TIP: Buy an A/B USB 2.0 cable...it is really lame that the printer doesn't come with one, especially for the price. It works great wirelessly, but I want it plugged in for ease when burning dvds and labeling them."

What's great about it: Great software comes along with it, the printer has a great interface too (touchscreen)
What's not so great: The screen is a 24/7 advertising board for HP

"This printer works great as a printer and a copier, but dont get this for the scanner. The scanner is slow and ultimatly not worth the time it takes, which bafuls me because it does copies fine. A nice unmentioned feature is that the CD drive can just be used as another for your computer. I use mine to play movies on my computer while i burn discs with the CD drive in my case."

What's great about it: The printer worked well.
What's not so great: Scanner quit after 2 months and the customer service was no where to be found.

"To Whom it may concern DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!
I purchased the Photosmart C8180 this spring. I was under the impression that this would be the top of the line device for home use. It worked well for a month or two. Then the scanner quit working. I have been receiving the error that states the scan cannot be preformed because another program has control of the HP imaging device. Being of average computer skill, I went to their website and troubleshooted from there. I tried several things and got no where. So, I went to email my problem to the technicians. I went through 13 emails and had no success. They then said I should call. I spent some time with an online tech and we got no where. Then I called back and spent 3 hours with a second level tech using REMOTE ACCESS and got no where. They said they would call back either the next day or at a day the next week that worked for me. I received NO phone call. I then let things drop for a month. I tried to call and spent 20 minutes on hold without talking to anyone. So I tried a live online chat. They were no help and basically had me starting over from scratch. So I tried to call again. I got no one for 10 min. At this point I sent an email to the executive officer. Then, I tried the online chat again and got no where. They said they would email me in 2-3 days. NO EMAIL WAS SENT in the 3 business days. I did receive a generic email from the executive officer saying they would route my complaint to the correct department and that I should here back. I have not heard back. So, now I am currently on hold again without talking to anyone but thought I would spend my time writing out the complaint. I will never buy another HP product not because this one device is a lemon but the support is the worst I’ve experienced!"

Fast and clean 07/22/2008

What's great about it: Very fast printer. Very sharp photos.
What's not so great: Not 802.11n compatible. Doesn't come with USB cable.

"This is a very fast printer. The photos are fast and very clear. You can handle them right out of the printer without fear of smearing. It even scans 35 mm negatives and slides. Haven't tried the LightScribe "printing" on discs yet. Hope to soon. I use a MacBook and it was very easy to set up. My husband uses it also with a PC. He had no trouble setting it up, but often gets error messages when he isn't using the printer."

What's great about it: easy set up, fast, B&W quality copies and documents
What's not so great: grainy pictures

"I must be doing something wrong - as everyone else is giving this a 5. My only gripe is that my pictures are grainy. My last photosmart was crystal clear - this one is the total opposite. Any ideas?

The machine otherwise, was well worth the money. Scanner, copier and the printing of documents besides photos is great. Just have an issue with color pictures."

A little more than I needed 04/28/2008

What's not so great: A little more printer than I really needed.

"This is a great printer. It does so much even without the computer. But my "older" computer takes a long time to "talk" to the new printer. I had trouble installing it with Windows XP and had to get a new installation disk and a new driver download. Also called for help from HP a couple of times. HP was great, tho and followed through! I would recommend it, but might recommend a scaled down model to someone who is trying to save some money. And also recommend you have a newer computer with more ram."

Home printing can't get any better than this. 04/28/2008

What's great about it: Gerat performance and wide-range connectivity.
What's not so great: Somewhat lengthy start-up time.

"I was in the market for a new printer. When I saw the HP C8180 I had to check it out. This HP printer utilizes the multi-ink cartridge system. This means if I run out of Yellow ink I only have to buy a new yellow ink cartridge. So I don’t have to through any un-used ink away, like with a tri-color ink cartridge system. This also saves money in the long run.

With HP’s Vivera Inks and HP Premium Plus Photo Paper you get the best possible home processed photos you can imagine. I have printed 4x6in. and 5x7in. pictures with stunning clarity and vividness. I can never imagine getting my pictures anywhere else but from my HP printer. The scanner works like a dream and I can even save the image to a USB flash drive when it’s plugged into the front of my printer, instead of saving the file to my computer.

The connections on this printer are endless. You can set it up the conventional way to one computer through USB. If you have multiple computers, like me, then you can connect it to your home network through Ethernet to your wired router or to your Wireless-G router. Wireless works flawlessly and I never had problems setting it up either. I had my wireless connection encrypted by Geek Squad so I have a security password that needs to be set up on all devices connected to my wireless network and I set it up all on the printer’s 3.5in. LCD touch screen display. The coolest part has to be the ability for me to print pictures directly from my Bluetooth enabled phone right to the built-in Bluetooth receiver on the printer and it couldn’t be easier to do!

One last thing, you don’t have to have your computer on or connected if you have your pictures on a USB Flash Drive or your camera’s memory card. After plugging your card/USB the printer will see what pictures you would like to print or even see if you want to edit them. If you need to save your pictures to a CD/DVD for a family member, friend, or just to store back-up of them, then you can do so without a computer. It has a built in CD/DVD writer drive that can even “burn” a grayscale image of your choice on the cover of a Light-Scribe recordable disc to personalize it. This printer is the ultimate in home printing and is worth even penny."

"Easy to follow instructions for set up. Separate 4x6 photo paper slot, makes printing pictures easy because you do not have to load the paper each time. Easy to load ink, even if they are on the smaller side compared to other printers I've had. Ink is not wasted because each color can be changed by itself. My husband and I are very pleased with our printer purchase."

"I have owned many HP products over the years and this is by far one of the best computer products I have ever owned. I have this printer set up for WiFi use from my desktop and the various laptops we use in our home. This printer offers extra options like prints from negatives and slides as well as DVD and every feature works absolutely excellent! I just recommended this printer to our church for a small office as well as to many business associates and friends. I love HP products but this one is my favorite so far. HP provides reliable products at reasonable prices and their service is excellent! I highly recommend this printer, especially if you have lots of old slides or negatives that you would like to convert to a digital format. I also use the many different options to print special types of paper such as the graph paper and writing papers. GREAT PRINTER BY HP"

Printer Supasses Expectations 02/11/2008

What's great about it: Prints, Copies and Scans at high speeds and quality
What's not so great: Small ink cartridges

"This printer is very fast and prints very high quality photos. I used the dvd writer and it burned very quickly though I'm not sure what speed it is at.
I have the printer connected to my computer through USB and have set up the Wi-Fi to work with the laptops we have. I didn't really see the delay people were seeing in the previous comments here.
About the only thing I would prefer is that the ink cartridges were bigger but they aren't too expensive with the package deals they have out there ink/photo paper."

What's great about it: Exceeded my expecations
What's not so great: Wi-FI slow (30 sec to start printing)

"I spent more than I wanted..but the features are worth it. I love the LCD and the Wi-Fi setup was effortless.
Color photos and print are great.

The only negative is the Wi-Fi delay to start of printing. (about 25-30 seconds)"
