What's great about it: Graphics, different combat skemes
What's not so great: Can't turn up graphics any higher than High

"This is by far the best of all the GW's. The armor you can get for you characters and Heroes is awesome. It also fills in some gaps of the original GW story line.

Hall of Monuments is cool, it keeps track of stuff youve done in the game. which is supposedly going to get transfered into GW2.

Only downside is the graphics can't go any higher, the game looks great already but i wonder what itd look like if i could get it into like ULTRA."

Great expansion to a great game   10/24/2008
By VisionHawk from USA

What's great about it: Great graphics, great storyline, free online play
What's not so great: Instanced PvE

"This expansion is worth the money. I am a huge fan of Guild Wars anyway, but Eye of the North is the best expansion for a game that I have ever played. You can't beat being able to play online for free and the graphics are way better than World of Warcraft. The only thing I like about WoW compared to all of the Guild Wars titles, including Eye of the North, is that you can encounter other players anywhere in the game. With the Guild Wars games, you can only interact with other players while in towns and outposts unless you join groups. After you join a group of players and leave the town or outpost, you can only talk to the players in your group and the largest amount of players that can be in a group is 8. However, at lower levels, the max group size may only be 4 or 2. The Guild Wars games also require more strategy than WoW as you can only have a weapon and up to 8 skills or spells at a time and you can only change what skills are available in a town. The game is well worth buying, though. I've been playing for about a year and a half and can't wait for Guild Wars 2."

Pretty Good Expansion   08/27/2008
By XStormLordX

What's great about it: New heroes, skills, titles, and additional bonuses and content, Hard Mode is worth it
What's not so great: May seem a little Repetitive, pretty short, ALOT OF WALKING TO GET TO MAIN AREAS

"I have all 3 campaigns and this expansion (Guild Wars Prophecies, Nightfall, Factions and Eyeof the North on one acount) was definitely worth it. This is just an expansions, so, of course, it's not a full out game, but the stuff you get to do is amazing. The new titles, such as Legendary Master of The North is fun to try to achieve and requires Hard work in Hard MOde. Also, the additional skills and weapons, armor, pets, and gameplay adds for the betterment of your charcters. I strongly advise that if you liked the first 3 campaigns, and you are planning to get GW 2, then you should Get Eye of the north. It introduces you to new heroes, and sets the stage for the next campaign, and most of the stuff from the expansion will be carried over on your account."

Great comp game!   08/09/2008
By Dragonfruit

What's great about it: new content, heros, and land to explore
What's not so great: feels short

"I highly reccomend this game to anyone iterested in the guild wars franchise. It adds great new content such as reputation skills and quests. It is a great substitute to WoW because it has no subscription fee, but the enjoyment slows once the game is beaten."

By Jack3754 from Denver, CO

What's great about it: The new story line.
What's not so great: none

"I thought that this game was a good expansion to the Guild Wars world. It was deffinetly a move in the right direction. The new items abilities and hero's all make the game that much better. I would recommend this addition to anyone that has played the games so far."

Vikings and Gnomes and Charr, Oh My!!   10/14/2007
By BlackOpsNoOne from South Carolina

What's great about it: New dungeon and story system and can be played on any of the 3 existing games
What's not so great: Some may find it too short and the new Reputation grinding might get annoying for some

"Overall ArenaNet has done pretty well with their first and possibly only expansion. The 3 coinciding storyline quests can be done in any order and since there are no actual missions in the sense of the other 3 games, its a refreshing change of pace. Some current members were disappointed by the relative lack of new material since they are used to new games instead of an expansion. I for one am enthralled by the new races introduced by the expansion. The massive Viking-like warriors of the Norn and the diminutive genius researchers of the Asura. Splinting the existing professions between the two races was a stroke of genius by ANet. The new system of underground dungeons that give "loot" at the end is a nice addition to keep the members happy. The game also included a new mini game from the Asurans, Polymock. Polymock is a kind of a meeting between Guild Wars battling, chess, and Pokemon.

All in All it is a great addition to an already flourishing game."

Great Expansion   10/07/2007
By Meese

What's great about it: Nice new content, great addition to the three main campaigns, offers sneak peek into gw2
What's not so great: some of the new armors are just reskins of older sets and may leave a little to be desired

"This is a great expansion to Guild Wars. I would recommend it to any guild wars fan out there. The new armor sets are nice for the most part, although many of them look like reskins of armor sets from prophecies, factions, and nightfall, and there are a bunch of nice new weapon skins. The new heroes, which come in every profession, allow any non-nightfall owners to get in on the hero fun without spending $50 on the nightfall game itself, or, for those of us who do have nightfall, they offer a little variation. The new dungeon system and mini-games are nice additions as well. Also, if you're interested in Guild Wars 2, which is in development now, Eye of the North gives a nice sneak peek at races that will be available and the Hall of Monuments allows you to save the achievements of each individual character to supposedly be used in GW2.

Overall though, great expansion. Well worth the money."

A great add-on for all veteran players   09/22/2007
By Sixshot from Melrose, MA

"This is ArenaNet's first and possibly only expansion to the Guild Wars game. Unlike Nightfall and Factions, which are individual campaigns and stand-alone games, Eye of the North is an expansion that adds on to the original Guild Wars (also known as Prophecies), Guild Wars Factions, and Guild Wars Nightfall. Thus, playing Eye of the North requires one of the three Guild Wars campaigns.
.
The expansion adds on to existing campaigns and helps bridges the gap between the first Guild Wars and the upcoming Guild Wars 2. Players who never owned Nightfall will now be able to build weapons and items according to their preference through the use of Nightfall-style upgrade components and inscriptions. They will also be able to use Heroes for the first time as the expansion provides 10 Heroes of every profession. But while the expansion adds something new to those who are missing a campaign, there are small extras for people who own all three campaigns.
.
One of the biggest feature to Eye of the North is the Hall of Monuments. It is documented that this will be the link between Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2. Player achievements and various other little things can be set up to be immortalized so that Guild Wars 2 players can receive certain benefits or bonuses. At this time, it's unknown as to what kind of benefits or bonuses will be available. For now, the Hall of Monuments serves not only just a link but a form of "bragging rights" to show others your achievements, or dedication.
.
Overall, the expansion itself feels a tad small and there are claims that the expanded story was very short. Objectively, I find the story to be appropriately sized given that this is an expansion. Questions about certain characters were finally answered and there are some closures. I personally like the expansion. There are some problems here and there. But these problems are being discussed at great lengths in various fansite forums. Hopefully, Eye of the North will keep the players sated until Guild Wars 2 is finally released."

This MMORPG only gets better   09/17/2007
By Alphastream

"The first true expansion for Guild Wars, Eye of the North requires owning one other Guild Wars episode (Prophecies, Factions, or Nightfall). The expansion is available from all three locations and builds on the improvements made in each.

Eye of the North provides graphical beauty and sound that competes with any of the other MMORPGs out there. In addition, it adds player-controlled AI heroes that players can use (as in Nightfall) to better increase their effectiveness in the game. New skills are available for all classes from previous chapters of the game.

Quests and Missions continue the improvements in Nightfall, being engaging and challenging in new ways. The zones themselves are more interesting, with enemies and potential allies placed in dynamic ways that require greater interaction and skill.

All-in-all, this game (still with no monthly fee) is another compelling reason to play Guild Wars."

Great expansion   09/15/2007
By Wolf58 from Fort Worth, Tx.

"Being a long time guild wars player (27 months and going) I of course just had to see how they did on the expansion. I was very very pleased! Great graphics as I expected from them; great quest that just kick your tail at first. You simply must think and plan your party build. This is just one of the unique things about this game that I love. Unless you're burnt out on GW I think you'll love this expansion.
BUY IT!"

Finishes most of the story!   09/13/2007
By SilverNight from Minnetonka, MN

"For those of you who played the origanal Guild Wars this will answer alot of questions and close alot of gaps in the origanal game. The graphics in EotN are the best on the market right now and the game offers alot of new heros and new land including 18 dungeons that are a very fun part of the game. The only complaint is that there are no New Armor but I don't care since I wasn't planning on getting new armor. There are 100 new skills to fill your slots for along time to come. Great Buy."

This Expansion Rocks!   09/09/2007
By keylope from CA

"I just got this expansion for Guild Wars and am loving it. I would recommend this to any Guild Wars Fan. I didn't buy either of the first two stand alone games, but this one is great in that it allows you to just continue on with your characters with more heroes that start at level 20. No need to level them up, but you can give them armor and weapons.

This is a must have for any Guild Wars fan."

Change for the better   09/09/2007
By HybridLlama from Akron OH

"This game changed a lot of the aspects from the other 3 campaigns. For one this is the first actual expansion for Guild wars; all of the content in this game is made for high level characters.
It also has a new mission system. Instead of having towns where you enter missions, it has quests that have cut scenes and move the story forward. This also lets you choose how you play through the game. You can pick whichever story arch you want at the beginning of the game, or even switch in the middle of one.
If you enjoyed any other Guild Wars campaigns, then this is a great expansion, I would recommend it to anyone."
