What's great about it: graphics, gameplay, story, length of game
What's not so great: repetitve fights
"this is a great title. the graphics in this game are excellent. true to next generation graphics. the gameplay in this game is easy to use. because the game is turned based it gives you time to think of your next move. the story is great too. and the length of the game is extremely long. it spans over 3 discs. I am about 2 hours in and have around 50 hours of gameplay left. for sure you get your money's worth in the length of the game easy. and with everything else like graphics, story, and gameplay, it is just awesome game. the only problem with this game is that the fighting mechanics here is slow because it's like final fantasy. but that really is no reason to not pick up this game. and the fighting scenerious get repetitive fighting the same monsters and over and over. I recommend this game to thoughs who like final fantasy games. it is great. even if you have not played games like final fantasy you will still find some intresting stuff here."

Fun game

What's great about it: Good storyline, easy game play
What's not so great: slow pace
"I am fairly new to the 360 so I don't have much to compare this game to but I have enjoyed it thoroughly. It is a bit slow moving having to investigate every rock, box, and the like but the story line is entertaining, the game play is easier than most, yet still challenging, and aside from some colorful language at times, this game can also be enjoyable for children."

Excellent RPG

What's great about it: Graphics, completists have plenty to find
What's not so great: Voices are a tad grating over time
"This is a welcome addition to any xbox 360 owner's library. Square Enix is synonymous with quality when it comes to RPGs, and this is no exception-the class system is reminiscent of FF3 and FF5's job system, and the lengthy story draws comparisons to the Final Fantasy series as well. Some of the achievements are quite difficult, and reward completists' attention to detail (i.e. completing the item and monster lists). A great way to pass the time until Mass Effect comes out 11/20."

Great Value in a FUN Game
09/22/2007

"The gameplay in Blue Dragon is fun, but doesn't really get cracking until the end of the first disc. The battle system is fun, and the characters are likeable and easy to relate to. The best part is the game is designed with lots of branches that aren't necessary to finish the game, but add a TON of play or replay value to the title if you want to see everything.
Also, in Japan they released a bonus pack free that let you replay the game with "hardcore" upgrades that made the game much more challenging. It's supposed to be released on LIVE here as well!"

Hooray for a 360 RPG

"I have to admit i've been eating up what information i could get on this game since i first heard it was announced. I saw the hype it was generating in Japan and couldn't wait to get my hands on this title. I have played through the first disc and taken a nice bite out of the second. I am impressed with the detail placed into the gameplay the graphics and the overall feel of the game. It's nothing thats going to revolutionize the genre but I like a game that you can tell where it got its roots from and there is a very aparent touch from both the final fantasy and dragon quest titles.
I recomend this game to you classic rpg fans. If your looking for that ground breaking game that just looks at the moulds and laughs then you best keep looking, but until then this isa great game and definatly deserves it's place as one of the better RPG titles in recent years."

Old School RPGs are Back

"This is Definitly a great game. it really has a lot of fun and Beautiful cut scenes. This is the first truly old school RPG's I've scene in years now. The initial begining of the game is 10 hours of warming up the entire game. That was perfectly fine with me, because you really get to enjoy the fighting system. It is a mix and match fighting system that allows the player to create there own party style of just wizards to a guardian, an Assasin, to a sword master. This is exactly what I wanted out of the game. This game is totally a worth while game for me. I definitly recomend it with all the amazingly great content you recieve after disk 1 and mind you there are 3 disks. If you are into old school RPGs like FF7 or new style like tales of Symphonia. you will love this game."

"One of the best games to date on Xbox 360. The graphics are great, the story is engaging, and there is never a lack of things to do and explore. Take your time to appreciate the first of Mistwalker's titles. This is a must have for anyone who is a fan of the classic RPG."

Blue Dragon is a wonderful RPG

"If you enjoy Final Fantasy style of gameplay and Japanese influenced artwork you will love this game. It is a fun and very large (comes on 3 DVDs) RPG that starts a bit slowly but once your characters begin to level up and open up more powers the gameplay gets very interesting. Don't assume that it is a kids game from the box art. Must buy for xbox360 owners!!"

360 FINALLY has a real (& good!) RPG
09/12/2007

"Xbox has never been known for RPGs... now they finally get some love with Blue Dragon, Mistwalker's first title. While it doesn't redefine RPGs, it takes all the best attributes from the best RPGs of the last 20 years and puts it all together in a sharp looking, fun to play package. Sakaguchi... you know, that guy that made a little game called Final Fantasy? Ya, he made the game. Nobuo Uematsu... you know, the guy that is synonimous with Final Fantasy music, and some of the best, most memorable videogame music ever? Ya, killer soundtrack for this game too. Oh and don't forget that dragonball Z artist... what's his name...? :) He was responsible for the amazing characters in Dragon Quest 8 last year and the art work in this game is immediately recognizable. Bottom line, if you like RPGs, have an Xbox, then you MUST have this game. So get it already!"

"I had been waiting on this game to finally come to our shores. I read baout it a few years back and could not wait for it to come out. This games does not bring anything new to the RPG genre; however, the cartoon-like graphics make up for that in a big way."

Dissapointment
08/31/2007
By ChiefKitten

"Although it's true this game has some great authors. This isn't "The next big thing" to happen to RPG's, in fact, good luck getting past the first disc of content. Is it so much content that theres no time to do it all? nope, just a bunch of cutscenes that lead no where to a overall dissappointing experience. If you can stick around till the 3rd disc where you acquire your airship, there is some nice content to be had, but thats a good 30 hours into the game. Its a good change for those of you who have been waiting for an rpg for the xbox 360, but you'll be sadly dissappointed at the time invested/pleasure gained."
