If you have a need to scan bills, important papers, tax documents, etc. This is excellent product for you. The document feeder works well, as well as the $200,000 copier at the office. I was impressed with the software, no issues with the install on Vista Business.
If you are looking for a photo scanning, copying machine, this machine will do that very well, but it has some limitations in that area. But this is the only limitation, everything else is great.
What's great about it: Document Scanning is great!
What's not so great: Not ideal for photos but works well.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I purchased this to replace a Dell 922. This printer is a bargain for the money. The set up is easy and it works great. Just remember to buy a current USB cable for this machine as my old USB cable from my Dell machine did not fit.
What's great about it: Easy to install, clear prints,clear copies and scans
What's not so great: none

I bought this printer a year ago for school. No problems at all. I used it alot thinking that the ink cartridge would run out soon, but nothing. It even tells you when the ink is going low and I still had a lot of use with that bit of ink. Mind you, I only replaced the ink once in a one year period. This is coming from a full time college student with massive online research and reports. Its great as a copier. you have the options to use a certain amount of ink for a particular quality and speed. So if you want a "fast" print job then the amount of ink is reduced. Its pretty much what you want. The fax machine is great!!! I had an HP before that I loved and now I love this one so much more.
What's great about it: Print quality, longevity of ink cartridges, features, price.
What's not so great: Nothing wrong!
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is a really great machine for the price. It does everything a college student could hope for. I just wish it had included the USB cable, because at Best Buy they cost around 36-40 dollars. When you are only trying to spend 65 for a printer, 40 bucks to connect it to your computer is a bit much. But, it is still a really great printer.

After suffering through endless problems with the last 3 HP all in one printers I've owned (lousy software, routine paper jams and document feeder jams, failing printheads, scanner failures, etc) I finally tried out this Canon after reading many reviews online and I couldn't be happier. It's worked perfectly for several months now. I finds the printer and scanner software to be easy to use (I use Mac OSX) and free of any annoying glitches. The copier and scanner have been very reliable. Unlike the HP's I've owned the printer starts printing almost immediately nearly every time irregardless of file size or content. I print mainly B+W but the color documents I've printed have looked just fine.
I found some of the fax functions a little odd at first and needed to go through the function menus and adjust a few settings, but it's been a reliable fax as well for the few times I use it for that. I recommended the MX-310 to a friend and she is also very happy with it.
What's great about it: Easy set up, good price, software works very well
What's not so great: I wish the glass was a bit bigger to better handle slightly oversize documents.

We bought this machine to replace our old machine but recently brought the out one out again until we can return this machine back due to the paper intake comes out crooked and then it says out of paper, and we have tried holding the paper as it goes in and everything we can think of, did not work, we are very disapointed that in less then 1 month of purchase this has happened to this machine. Everything else is good but if it does not take the paper in right then the machine is useless and not worth the $.
What's great about it: Nice machine when it works right
What's not so great: Paper intake comes out crooked
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

this printer is fairly small so takes up just a little space. it prints top notch pictures. Salesman said it only liked to print pics on cannon paper but I have been using Office Depot brand and they come out perfectly. The scan feature is as easy as can be with included software, and scans pictures with better than hoped for quality.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: haven't found anything

I purchased this printer for it's feed scanning ability. This all in one is much cheaper than a purpose scanner, but its feed scanning capability did not disappoint. Not to mention the ink is well priced and overall print speeds are fast. Great printer. I do wish it had the networking ability, but for the price...you can't go wrong.
What's great about it: It's Fast
What's not so great: No networking

best buy for the price, does good job, no bloated software like HP, easy to install, and set up,
if you need affordable good printer it does all the things including fax, this is the one to buy period. do not waste your time looking around.

I got this AllInOne back in March and it has worked great for me so far, I have tried everything except for the Fax, so far so good, the scanner and printer are excellent, producing outstanding vivid prints and photos, I can easily connect my camera to it and it will print pictures right from it with no problems at all.
If you buy this product I would suggest you two things, first immediately update the firmware and software both available for free from the cannonusa site, and second be sure you play around with the settings and adjust them so that you set it for higher quality printing, by default it comes with standard settings which produce lower quality prints and photos, Once you change those settings you will notice a loss of speed to get the printings done but the difference in quality makes it worthy.
I had Cannon before and I can see why I can still stay loyal to the brand after so many years, you simply can't go wrong with Cannon.
What's great about it: Beautiful Photos, Nice Scans, Good speed, Nice software, Features.
What's not so great: Location of the paper feed and LCD screen.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is a very easy printer to set up.I am not very computer savvy,but I was able to get this up and printing quite easily! I had to print off alot of ce's for my work in health care,and I am quite pleased with how quick the printer is compared to my old one.Then I was able to print out beautiful pictures from my kodak camera.I have not used the fax yet but the scanner works perfectly as well.The salesperson was very helpful and gave me the saleprice even though the sale was over the day before.I did not know the sale was over and traveled an hour and a half so needless to say I was relieved that he gave me a break.I love this printer and I love Best Buy!!

I use a Mac and had a hard time setting it up the first time on both my OSX 10.5 macbook and my wife's OSX 10.4 ibook. I've had to re-install the software once already and I use the printer rarely. I've printed a couple full sheet photos on high quality paper and they are just full of lines, the blacks are more sliver and the colors are too synthetic. The fax machine doesn't work very well and unless you set the machine to print a report after every fax (something I don't do since it is a waste of paper) there is absolutely no telling if the transmission went through or not. The cartridges last only for a very short period (I bought the double size ones too!) and the printing is 1985 dot matrix slow. SLOW, SLOW, S L O W. Speaking of slow, you have to take the sheets of paper out of the machine as soon as they print if another sheet is printing or the ink will smear. The feed is not good at all, in fact it is terrible, the paper always feeds crooked and unless you are using perfect 8 1/2 x 11 sheets forget it. Card stock doesn't feed well, even in envelope mode and every 5th card gets smeared with ink in some random place. The scanner works fairly well and quickly however which is the only bonus I can think of.
What's great about it: Easy to change cartridges, something you will do A LOT.
What's not so great: Everything
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love this little printer. The quality is great and looks very professional. The cartridges are a little cheaper than my old ones. Every little bit helps! It doesn't take up much space and it performs great. Couldn't ask for more for such a reasonable price.

I thought buying a good name such as Canon I would not have to worry about getting a poor quality product. I was wrong. I sent a print job through, and the alarm light went on, indicating a paper jam. There was no paper jam. There were no foreign objects, nothing! And I could no longer access the ink carttridges. I called customer service, and they are shipping me a refurbished unit. Nice that they are backing up their product, but come on, a month? Surely there are better products out there.
What's great about it: Easy to set up and use, if it works
What's not so great: Broke down within a month!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I was in the market for a new printer and took a look at canon products since I was so happy with my canon digital camera. This was my first all in one printer purchase, and I was a bit hesitant until I took the plunge and bought one. From the minute I opened the box it was so easy to setup and install the software. Within minutes I was prinitng professional quality photos from my computer. I didnt even have the right paper, and they still looked great. It is so easy to scan, fax and copy all on one machine. It has saved me time, space and money. I read several reviews on this printer before buying it, so I hope my input helps. This is a great printer for anyone (even if you dont know a lot about computers, like me). I highly recommend it. NOTE: A USB Cable does not come with the printer, and you do need one to connect ithe printer to your computer. To my knowledge most printers dont come with one, so make sure you buy one with your new printer or you may allready have one at home like I did.
What's great about it: Easy setup & installation, great quality pictures
What's not so great: none so far

I purchased this based on recommendation of a Best Buy salesperson - the price was excellent (less than $100), and I was leery of a comparable HP (1630 - two had previously broken right AFTER warranty period expired, of course).
Setup is very fast and easy and less annoying than the HP (HP constantly bombards you with screens that basically are ads for more purchases). My setup was wrong for the fax (AT&T guy hooked it up incorrectly) and online Canon tech support solved that in an instant.
It's physically bigger than the HP and the paper feeds from the top/back - which requires space above the printer - minor, probably, but for me it means locating the machine in a spot that isn't exactly where I wanted it to be. If space is limited, then look at the HP or a Lexmark - much smaller physically and require smaller space.
But I am very pleased overall and would recommend this to anyone (I will not use it for photos, so I don't know how that function compares with others)

I have had this printer since around Christmas of 2007, and it performs all of its functions extremely well - much better than my older Dell. I buy the large refill cartridges which truly are more economical than my older printing costs. One thing - familiarize yourself with the image settings that are adjustable from your computer - over time, you'll learn when and when not to use the optimizer and vivid settings, when to tweak the color balances a little. Use the preview mode on your computer screen just before the doc or photo actually prints - it makes a difference. With relatively cheap ink, you can experiment with different kinds of settings until you have the perfect print.
The software was relatively easy to install and execute. I run all the settings from the computer, and the printer integrates with my Dell desktop seamlessly. This is a great value for the money, and it looks sharp too.

Purchased this all in one mostly for photo printing. After printing 3 or 4 photos and comparing to photos from weeks ago on my old and now broken HP, there was no comparison. The HP photos are much sharper and the colors much better. I do not think this printer was made for photos. Probably meant to be jack of all trades, master of none. I am returning it for another HP without even trying the other functions
