"I've been using TomTom for about 2 years now and can't really remember how I got by before it. I travel extensively in the US and Western Europe, so have both maps saved on my laptop and switch between them on the TomTom as needed. The ability to submit updates and download updates others have submitted has proven invaluable, and is in my mind one of the primary reasons to pick this over other personal GPS products. The interface is intuitive and easy to use. The one downside to this model is that the voice navigation is directions only and does not include reading out the street names."

"For the money, this product is very reliable and very easy to use. I use it in all my trucks, very durable, as you know that tractor trailers vibrate plenty. All my drivers picked up on its interface in a matter of minutes, and after using mine, they went out and purchased their own.....you can`t go wrong with this product if you are looking for a basic unit and you misplace items or work in high traffic area.....where sometimes things have a way of walking away.
The screen is very bright and crisp, you can change from day and night screens in a snap, easy to understand instructions....and very easy to update online from a desktop or laptop or with a bluetooth device!
Although, tom tom doesn`t have a program for commercial vehicles, for cars, its very accurate! You will be pleased with this item!"

"The TOMTOM ONE 3rd Ed. is a great starter GPS Unit. It keeps the full functionallity and customization, while keeping the costs down. It is accurate, easily updated, and has a ton of customizable content. I highly recommend this unit, if you do not want to break the $200 price barrier, but want the convenience of TOMTOM in your vehichle."

"I love our TomTom One. It has helped so much in getting me and my wife around town, especially when we dont know the area but even if we just need an alternative route. Being realistic, it looses the signal when I turn it off and takes a while to get it back. It also make sure we go around the block so what we need to get to is on the right. You may like it, but sometimes I dont. Sometimes, its directions dont keep up with the speed you are going and it tells you too late to get over what to do. Other than that, I love it!"

"I've had this item for over a year now, and i love it. had to drive from Virginia to Texas and didn't have my usual road partner to read me the directions off an atlas. i purchased it right away and was able to use it right out of the box, and charges while you drive once you plug it into the cigarette outlet! Yes, the roads aren't spoken out to you, but it does give you a 2 mile warning before you do anything by voice. Also if your concern is that the maps are outdated, all you have to do is hook it up to the internet on the tom-tom website and download the most recent one! Like i wrote, it doesn't have all the fancy/flashy items like sounding out the street names or having a little car icon, but it gets you where you need to go, with ease."

"I have had my TomTom Go for about a month, but I haven't really used it all that much yet. I chose this one because of the great reviews that I ready, but also because it's supposed to be able to take your target destinations and map the best route. I'm a real estate agent, and I think this might be extremely helpful... especially when I venture out away from my normal territory. I've not put this function through it's paces yet.
The maps are NOT up-to-date. Some roads that should definitely be on there are not, and none of the newer roads (1 year or so old) are on the maps. Also, the "time to destination" calculation is way off."

"This is an entry level GPS and shouldn't be expected to perform as well as the $400 and $500 Garmin and Tomtom units that are out there. That being said, it serves its purpose very well and is a very nice unit for the price it is. It's small, but not too small. My only gripe with its size is that some of the icons on the map (for gas stations, parking, rest areas, etc) are sometimes hard to decipher. However, I have no problems reading the essential information at the bottom of he screen (speed, distance, arrival time, etc). Some of the map data in my area is out of date because of freeway reconstruction. The affected area is the largest interchange in the state and the new road has been in place for over a year. Because of the old map data, the GPS freaks out and recalculates 5 times when I go through that section of road. It does so very quickly and eventually gets back on track, which is good, but in the mean time it is giving you wrong guidance. Some data has been updated correctly and judging by what's there the data is probably about 2 years old. Good thing I know where I'm going there... Also one more gripe is that it seems to avoid U-turns on divided roads at all costs, instead opting to send you around the block. The Tomtom Home software seems pretty decent and is very easy to use. One thing to note though is that it appears from the online documentation on their website that you will only receive map updates for 30 days after you activate the Home software. I haven't been able to confirm this though as I am still within that window."

"When it comes to TomTom GPSs, you can't get one for less than the TomTom ONE. While you save some money, you also lose out on two main features that the nicer GPSs offer: bigger screen and speaking the names of roads (the ONE will simply say "Turn right in 300 yards"...don't worry, after a bit of use, you get used to it). But if the main thing you want is to get from point A to point B, the TomTom ONE will get you there.

The interface for getting you to an address is very simple. Some of the more advanced features can be harder to figure out--I don't have any problems but it seems to baffle my girlfriend.

My biggest complaint is getting updated maps. They want something like $99 to get an updated map of the US. That's almost how much I paid for the device!

My advice is to go to BestBuy and try out the various GPSs. A friend of mine has a Garmin and I like some of the features on it. The bigger screens are really nice and having the unit say "Turn right on Elm Street" may be worth upgrading to a nicer unit than the ONE."

What's not so great: ABSOLUTELY NONE!

"I've had this since Feb 08, and have enjoyed this with everywhere I have gone. It PAID for itself when I got lost in Boston. (Thanks to all the detours with the never ending road construction.) I was back on track and arrived at my destination in 13 minutes. It saved me from burning up my gas, and my stress level of being lost! It was useful when I went to FL. I got to all the places I wanted to visit in no time.

It has a lot of features for the money. You can go right online and get points of interests downloaded for free! If you have to make a correction (hotel name change) you can do that right away on the unit.
This is a good GPS to buy if you have never used one before."

"i love this GPS.. not all that fancy looking but it does the job right. i love the fact that you can easily upload different files including MAPS (from the internet) incase you need to get out of the country... i took this gps to europe and trust me, it works like you never left the country. great features too.. you can customize the voice and the icons on the screen! durability wise, i live in vegas... and i leave this device inside my car thruout the entire day... and thruout the summer days where it reaches 115 degrees its still works fine. get one!"

"Bought this TomTom on a quick decision. Had relatives coming up that were afraid to take major highways. Bought the TomTom on my way down on a visit. Showed them how to use it (about 2 minutes) and they used it when they drove back about a week later. No problems! It is a great device for the money.
The biggest thing TomTom has going is the ease of use. We bought it, hopped in the car, and took off. Within minutes we had our route planned and it was telling us how to get to our destination. It really was THAT easy.
The biggest drawback is the screen size. My next GPS will be bigger. Once you get it on the windshield, the screen is a little small. The missing SD slot is just my personal preference. The GPS does not need it, but it would be nice if it was there.
Now, the inability to find addresses in rural areas. I live in ND. Most of the places I go to are rural. Good luck finding an address in this situation! However, this is not TomTom's fault. Other GPS units are the same way. It just hasn't gotten that far yet. It will, in time, but for now, if you know you need to go somewhere rural, you better have an idea on where it is on a map. Then you can pinpoint it and create a route that way.
Overall I am pleased with this device. It connects seemlessly to my PC and that unlocks more features. I will use this one for a while and then probably buy a unit with a larger screen. After all, the relatives I talked about earlier, had a tough time letting my TomTom go. Maybe they will get this one."

"My wife and I went from Salina KS to El Paso TX for our sons graduation and passed through Dallas to see her sister and let me tell you my tomtom took me from my front door to every where wanted to go without missing a beat! I am VERY pleased with this product. To quote my wife "It's worth it's weight in gold" buy it update it and go go go! And it's very easy to use. WE LOVE IT!!"
