What's great about it: Ease of use. Has good power. Sensor cooking usually worked.
What's not so great: Major design flaws. Over the counter unit, but control panel stopped working when it got hot. Extremely unreliable,
We renovated our kitchen less than 3 years ago, with all GE Cafe appliances, and every one of them has broken, but the microwave has been the worst. It has broken 4 times. Only the first repair was under warranty, then it was over $200 each time they came. The repairman has been at our house 3 times in the last 2 weeks, and the last repair where he replaced all the guts of the machine including the magnetron lasted less than a day! GE also does not stand behind their products. When I demanded that they replace this clearly defective unit, the best they would offer is a discount on a new one.
For a premium price, I expected better from GE. My parents bought a GE microwave in 1984 that still works today. How come now they can't build a unit to last 3 years?

What's great about it: Sleek looking
What's not so great: Consistent failures
We've had two significant failures within 18 months. The 1st under warranty, but the 2nd cost over $200 to repair. The control panel fails often, probably due to the heat from the range below. We have all GE kitchen with all matching blue LEDs and displays, but the 2nd repair of the microwave changed to green. Also, the small halogen lamps used as counter lighting fail often usually in less than 6 months and cost $5 each. If this oven fails again we will have to trash it and buy a new one (but not GE).
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: It looks good, it's got a nice, big interior, sensor cooking works well, turntable
What's not so great: Design flaws in the menu, menu turns on if you clean the outside, doesn't give you cooking time if you use the sensor, e
This is my 3rd GE Microwave. The first two had flaws and had to be replaced. This is the 3rd and final try.
When you clean the outside the sensor menu turns on. Sometimes it even turns on the microwave and has to be quickly shut off. The panel is too sensitive. It doesn't tell you how long it's going to cook when you use the sensor and that can cause problems. It heats and cooks quickly and the interior is large.
Cooking sometimes is too complicated if you want to do something other than cook, heat up or defrost.
It took over 10 days to get my 3rd microwave. I don't know why and the 2nd one was not usable. It had blown a fuse. I spent hours on the phone trying to find out when my microwave was coming. It finally did.

What's great about it: Functions well
What's not so great: Many buttons to hit; touch pad flaked out
We got this microwave about two months ago as part of a kitchen renovation. I wasn't crazy about the touchpad and how you sometimes have to hit many buttons to get it to what you want - like, say, reheat for 1 min. at 80% power. My wife, on the other hand, loves the fact that it is simple to follow the on-screen instructions. But if you're used to the way traditional microwaves function and you can deal with things like setting the power to 80%, you may be frustrated with the extra steps it takes to do such things with the Cafe.
But at least it worked - at first. Then the display started going flaky - odd lines were showing up; something was clearly wrong. When we unplugged it and plugged it back in, it'd be ok. That lasted maybe a week before the display just went completely blue - eerily similar to the blue screen of death that's familiar to Microsoft Windows users. We called in GE service. They came two days later, then had to order a part. He's supposed to come on Saturday morning. If he succeeds in fixing it, it'll be 6 days we are without the microwave.
When it works, it works well. Its sensor function is quite accurate and consistently cooks food to the right temperature. But I have a feeling we haven't had the last problem with that touchpad.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bought this and couldn't be happier. I like the sleek cool design and love the touch screen, makes it a lot more easy and funner to cook. Makes awesome popcorn and heats the food right through.

What's great about it: Features, Sleek Design
What's not so great: Nothing
Technology has proven to be a good thing with the GE Cafe microwave. With it's detailed panel of options, food is cooked on the correct setting for the precise amount of time with great results. I am so impressed with the ease of use and performance of this microwave. It replaced another GE of ten years and all I can say is WOW, how things have improved for the better. It's so smart, I love it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I purchased this item on-line on 12/10. It was delivered on time (even though the delivery people had to trudge through 6 inches of snow in my 150 foot long driveway on 12/20 - the promised delivery date). Then it was installed on time, on 12/23 by the most competent and friendly people I have ever dealt with. It looks great and more importantly, cooks, reheats and defrosts better than expected. Also, very easy to use!
I would recommend this to a friend!

the microwave is excellent for a quick snack warmup or a full meal preapration, easy to use, easy instructions and usage, good hot and fast every time
